I knew stories about David Webb while people wouldnt believe it and supported him, i know this is slightly different but what im saying is when he leaves the players will dish the dirt and you will go ' oh right so he was a rubbish manager after all' but it will be too late is what i fear.

mattbee said:ok first problem i got with wally : the captaincy, he said he is waiting for Dobbo to come to him and say 'boss its affecting my game can you take it away from me'. No player is going to do that and to expect Dobbo to do that is ridicoulous. Good managers make decisions! he should be that one telling Dobbo not the other way around!
Simon T said:The one thing what was quite worrying about last night was when Stephen Callen went into a few more details about the Bees United statement from yesterday. The loan note money is already in the £115k already contributed from the club, we need another £225k to get through the year and he expected standing orders/gigs/walks etc to raise about £125k of it. This leaves us £100k short and although he said BU would carry on fundraising it is a big ask to get them to double their income over the next year, even assuming we can get the average crowd to 5500. I guess we are reliant on getting a good figure for the roof sponsorship as without that things look bleak.
i suppose the money will come from either
a) the roof or other commercial coup
b) a decent cup run?
b) selling a player?
c) more fundraising?
or possibly a combination of the above
Hamburger Hill said:total bull$hit matt - Wally was asked by a lady whether Dobbo was weighed down by the captaincy - in her opinion it was...
he said Dobbo was proud to be asked to be captain but if (IF) he came to him and said he wanted to step down he would have to respect that...
any good player/captain would be the first to put his hand up if he was struggling...imagine if Wally just decided to give the armband to somebody else...you'd probably be posting that he has totally demotivated one of our best players....
you're just digging a deeper hole for yourself here - why don't you give up while you're behind? unless you have something truly extraordinary to say?
mattbee said:He basically ran him down as a player saying he is no good unless he scores goals and dismissed giving him a decent run in the side. To me it is clear that Downes would rather have players who try hard and plod about without much skill than a mixture of hard working players and people who have got that something extra to win games.

Wally said " Sometimes Eddie is like a dog chasing a motorbike"
It was a lighthearted remark and he also said how much he rated the workrate of Eddie & Jay.

For gods sake MattBee, we are talking about grown men in a tough sport. I am sure Eddie would not be driven to tears by this light humoured remark.
I think if you were honest you just want Wally out no matter what he says or does.
I just hope from last night fans finally understand the hard work that is going on by the BU behind the scenes and that JM, BB, SC is not BU.
mattbee said:i am frustrated with people like you. will you admit that although he said he wanted a 28 - 29 year old experienced midfielder (yes this is fact)
he is not capable of working with senior players because they dont respect him (that is your opinion)and so he prefers the younger players who he can order around and wont talk back to him.(that is your opinion)

mattbee said:dont you remember then few seasons back under Ray Lewington we were due to play away at Swansea. an incident occured which resulted in Lewington not travelling as manager and Wally Downes was put in temporary charge. All the players at the time which had quite a few senior pros in it rebelled and we lost 6 - 0 i think it was to a relegated Swansea team. They didnt want to play for Downes and they made their point that they had no respect for him.
Hammered said:He also emphasised that people shouldn't over-estimate his role stating that he took the warm ups each morning and pre-match and that other than that had little or no influence over the players as a team or individuals. The string of results since he has left were unrelated to his departure

New Roader said:So what exactly was said about Beadle then.
I see his is not going to get offered another contract but what did Wally have to say
mattbee said:oh forget it its a waste of time. ill just ask one question. how many more games do we have to lose before people will want him out?
Bish said:.I though Rodgers was dreadful last night.
PAZ said:He said he only signed him last minute as a stop gap when Henderson and Vine fell through, and that he would not renew the contract because it would take another 6 weeks to get him match fit again (rather than because he's sh*t etc.).
Peter.mattbee said:that last comment was true everyone i knew heard him say it! ok number 2 the way in which he talked about certain players especially Mark Peters and Eddie Hutchinson was a disgrace and unprofessional. If Mark hears any of that from last night he will feel like he has no future at our club. And on Eddie Hutchinson im not going to quote the remark he made about him because even though i dont rate him for his manager to say that is very unfair and not funny. If Eddie hears that it will surely knock his confidence! The man is supposed to motivate and encourage but he cant his man mangement is apalling.
Bish said:PAZ - Do we put Wally to the lie detector or call witnesses?
None of us know the truth except the players and staff.
But is it fair to call Wally a liar.

Simon T said:mattbee, had you actually listened to what he said, Wally stated that ideally he would want a 28-29 year old midfielder as captain, however as they tend to have a wife, house kids etc we can't afford to get them on what we are currently able to afford to pay.
I think you will find the mind works a lot better when it is open to new ideas, if you went last night with a fixed view of everything and unwilling to listen to what was said then you wasted 3 hours of your life. It appears that while you were there you did not listen.
PAZ said:Correct. He was happy to admit that Dobbo was not an ideal captain in his current state of vocality, but also made it pretty clear that unfortunately there is no one more suitable in our current squad.
Wally got in touch with the people who were running the course and asked:1)Could Forzoni have his money back, and the answer was yes,and:2)Who would benefit more from the course a manager or trainer, and was told a manager.
leaving GT to train the whole squad
Bish said:I thought Rodgers was dreadful last night.
naughty Bish, you mustn't criticise those in charge ! Nigel Brooks said:Eddie Rogers
Why was he talking about "sitting down with Wally to discuss budgets" when his is a non-executive role?
Nothing.Markybee said:What did Wally say that was derogatory about Peters and Hutch?
mattbee said:No offence jim bee but you are im guessing a typical 'support the manager'when he is here no matter what he does then when he goes say 'i always knew he was no good'. At least im saying get him out as quick as possible before its too late for someone else to save us!
