To be honest, I thought Wally wasn't being entirely truthful here.

Yeah right, the results have just been a coincidence.

Yeah right, he was paid a fairly decent sum of money just to do the warm-ups.

Yeah right, he didn't instill a positive enthusiasm that Wally and GT cannot match when doing this.

Yeah right, that'll be why he was involved with the England setup.

Yeah right, that's why Steve Coppell was delighted to have him back and why his return to Brighton last season saw an even better turn around in fortunes than Coppell's arrival. You can get any old guy JUST to do the warm up.

Good points - shame nobody asked these of Wally last night.

If John gets hurt and depressed by these sort of comments then he is making my case for me.

Management by wandering about John old pal that's how you solve the problems.

1. He wouldn't be human if some of the attacks on here didn't depress him. His 'mistake' though may be admitting it. He wouldn't be the first person to ignore 'bad press' so that they aren't distracted from their goals.

2. MBWA is only part of problem solving. Another very key factor, esepcially in current times, is the empowerment of those around you. Coach, trust and empower those that you can rely on. He can then focus his time and effort on the key strategies. That seemed to be what he was trying to convey last night and in essence this isn't sad a bad approach in my view.

We are still miles from where we need to be but these guys have to take some credit from moving us in the right direction and with the right intentions.

I asked why Colchester was a more attractive proposition....

Wally's reply... a predictable rant about agents, and how they hold out for a better offer, despite the fact I thought that all we are competing for is who picks up the wages Pompey are paying.
:D

He said that he didn't get an opportunity to 'bid' in terms of Rowan's wages. Having got a verbal agreement from Rowan that he would return to us if no First Division side came in for him Wally believed he had secured his return. It transpired though, when Rowan stopped answering Wally's calls, that the agent had hawked Rowan around a number of clubs for more money. Wally said that had he been given an opportunity to discuss money with Rowan he would have found it in the budget even if it meant getting it from elsewhere.

Yes, I heard all that. But assuming we were picking up the wage Pompey pays him, surely money could not have been the issue. This dawned on me after.

Remember, once he signed for Pompey again, we would only be obliged to pay what they pay (or a percentage), or am I missing something?

The above being true would of course mean Wally effectively telling a bare-faced lie at the forum. Although he wouldn't do that, surely.

BeeH - Who was suggesting you two?

Why don`t you find two candidates who you have faith in for November? What about Abees solicitor and his Phillipino house maid;)

Even a thicko likes me knows you have burned your bridges with BU/BFC and there is more chance of you cleaning RNs pool than helping the BU Board.

I have had a Earl Grey this time.. disgusting.

Nice one Bish, I have had a sh*tty few days and you have made me smile. I to think of people like Stedders, PJ , and all those that are trying to do something. As for the usual moaners, I just dont bother reading what they have to say, because it's . Well I dont want to upset anyone. Let me just say the action man will save this club, not the talkers

Quite possibly - I took it to mean that the agent was looking to secure a deal picking up all or a bigger percentage of the Pompey wages plus the extras - eg Goal bonus, appearance bonus, accommodation etc etc etc etc which I'd expect the loan club to negotiate with the player. Plus there may also be a loan signing fee involved otherwise why would an agent be in on any deal if there was no other money to negotiaite once he'd re-signed for Pompey.
I think the issue that wasn't mentioned on this point is that some agents (WD mentioned Henderson for example) may be punting it around that Brentford isn't a place to be right now.

I will also find out whos bottle has gone at BU and is willing to talk to you financial superheroes, I reckon your third columnist is Pete Smith.

Fortunately bottle and loyalty I have in great abundance!
(I'll see you in the playground after school!!)
Now had you said FIFTH columnist I'd have been really worried! lol:wave:

Nigel - Anybody with financial expertise who is prepared to get in and graft. Should be encouraged to stand in November.

I would love to see people fighting to get involved and stamp their views on BU. It can only help BUs fight to save our club.

Having the GPG depress you doesnt make you a weak leader!! What a ridiculous statement. Its difficult to see how BU is weakened being free of individuals who employ such fuzzy logic.

I agree entirely with you Bish, and am slightly concerned that so few GPG'rs have taken the opportunity to back the efforts of JM et al.

By the way PJ doesn`t read the GPG because it depresses him and he isn`t weak, so lets not go to over the top about JMs throw away remark.

I can assure you that PJ reads the GPG.

I never realised Tuesday's Fans Forum was ticket entry. Did anyone save me a ticket for the front row, as per our previous discussions on this Fans Forum?

If nobody did, has anyone got one spare? Come on, everyone wants to see me verbally batter the fool on Tuesday, surely. :D

Just thought I would remind everyone of Sweepy's prediction before the Fans Forum.

The only "batter" he would have seen was on his cod as he walked home, but hopefully he saved room for an extra generous helping of humble pie.

lol lol lol lol lol... and yeah, I think it deserves another one...lol

Care to comment on the "battering" that took place?

Whether I had attended or not I would still have been interested in fellow fans' interpretation of the events.

We all went to the game but spend time reading match reports don't we?
