FC Midtjylland

Good or bad news for us? I suspect mainly good. Is there any other comparable model like this. I suspect not. MB is ambitious and innovative and I like that he is ahead of the game. Cooperation and sharing of successful ideas in a global market is an exciting prospect and hopefully will help with our club's future ambitions , status and ultimately success. COYR's!

i don't know enough about the details, but Charlton's owner has Standard Liege, and Watford's have Udinese, no? are they similar?

i'm sure there'll be some moaning but Sir Matthew has not given us any reason to doubt him, I fully trust that he knows what he's doing and he's entitled to invest his money however he wishes!

FC Midtjylland

Didn't see that coming, one thing that I'm sure will be different compared to Watford and Charlton is that he won't force the manager to bring in players from Denmark without his consent.

Although he may send Grigg in the other direction... :fishing:

FC Midtjylland

Suspect this will be a strategic investment that has brentfords interest taken well into consideration.

I'm surprised he didn't buy Orient and then Mooney would be ours......;)

Supporting Brentford is simply weird, I knew were fishing in a bigger pond than you gave us credit for but the transfers plus this sort of news is simply mental.

There are more than what you think.

I assume this is the news that MB was referring to on social media yesterday?

Is it me or does their badge look like Charlton's at first glance?

Interesting; looking at the article FCM seem to be happy to get their debts cleared and have capital. Nothing really yet mentioned about links with Brentford, apart of course from describing Martin's position and involvement with us. I see it involves the Handball team as well. That is very big in Denmark, perhaps because they are good at it, and it seems to get a lot more TV exposure there than football. Will monitor the FCM website to see if anything on the Bees when things settle down.

Denmark for future pre-season friendlies! :fishing: :bound:

FC Midtjylland

Hopefully the plan is create a brilliant youth setup over there for Brentford to potentially take those players on and utilise foreign talent other clubs couldn't, or for Brentford to potentially benefit from the money gained through player sales.

FC Midtjylland

How does this do any thing positive for Brentford? It can only dilute Mathews interest and empty his bank .

FC Midtjylland

This seems to happen a lot. I'm wondering if there is a FFP loophole somewhere that allows an owner to push some costs through a foreign club.

Wonder if thats what those involved with his business ventures said when he bought into BFC?

A fantastic link up. The future looks even brighter.

I like Danish Bacon !
Maybe the club could sell Danish bacon rolls at half time.
Fantastic idea.

FC Midtjylland

I'll be over near there in a couple of weeks so will visit the ground and area just out of curiosity, maybe take in a game if their friendly season has kicked in.

Edit; home game Aug 4th

FC Midtjylland

I am hoping this will be a positive thing for Brentford.

I dont know anything about the standard of their players but they have had players such as Simon Kjær pass through their ranks who was sold to Palermo in Italy. I am sure there could be an opportunity to get some of their most talented players into the Brentford team ; )

As I dont think Matthew has any ties with Denmark as a country and he is a Brentford supporter, I am sure there is a strategic reason why he bought them. It could be to sign/loan potentially exciting players from them or it could be to try and improve our position with regard to FFP, I am not sure. Matthew is a clever man and I am always confident he is acting in the best interest of Brentford football club so I am sure this all part of his masterplan!

Those sizes make no sense to me. Can a Dansk please convert

Just doing a bit of 'desktop' research and I wonder if this fella; Sylvester Igboun is any good. It says he scored a hatrick against Werder Bremen and attracted interest from Besiktas. He is a 23 year old striker from Nigeria.

I know absolutely nothing about him but just throwing it out there.

Also they have Morten Rasmussen who used to play for Celtic and got 7 caps for the Denmark national team but he is 29. Focusing particularly on their strikers as that is the area we are looking to reinforce.

FC Midtjylland

I doubt that MB has put money into this club so that BFC can syphon off its strikers...

FC Midtjylland

Their fans' site has some very positive comments about the move. Benham's credentials seem to impress them.

FC Midtjylland

Hello from Denmark.
Surprising news to get up to today. Did not see that coming.

First of all I have the impression that you all have been quite satisfied with Matthew Benham since he bought the club, right?
For me as a FM Midtjylland fan, I'm looking for signs that this is a good match up or bad.

I Denmark they call him Mr. Big Data, and it seems that he has crunched the numbers and made his bet.

Some interesting Information for you.
FCM has the first Danish Academy, with big success. Selling U/17 player to big clubs every year. (Home-grown rule)
Former academy players you may know: Winston Ried (Westham) Simon Kjear (Lille) Victor Fisher (Ajax)
The squad that lead the Danish league most season but only got third in the end, is almost all former Academy players, with a few seasoned internationally experienced players.
If you see a lot of Nigerian players, it is becourse of our Nigerian Academy. Until FIFA made a special LEX Midtjylland rule, we could get the players at 15 to Denmark, get them to school and use them on youth teams. Now only after they are 18. Side note, every Nigerian player ever on the academy is a professional football player today.
FCM is the 2. best team in Denmark over the last 10 years, but has never won anything.
Internationally one of my best memories was Beating Manchester City 0-1 in the Uefa cup, unfortunately, they scored in extra time in the second leg, an beat us eventually. After the near miss with us they bought players for more money than the entire Danish league is worth. Says something about the money n English vs. Danish football.

Just ask me questions an I will try to answer them. Or go to http://ulvegraven.dk official fan forum for the Black Wolves, there is an English section.

Viktor Fisher is apparently an incredible prospect, whereas Reid and Kjaer are both very decent players.

I personally doubt that Benham has invested in Midtjylland simply to benefit Brentford, as mentioned in the press release, but because he's a big believer in youth football and they've got an excellent youth system. Also it'll gain him exposure to European competition each season, which should be very exciting for any owner.

FC Midtjylland

Given that they play in the top division in Denmark and qualify for a European competition most years, I think this will be a great tie up. Will also be good for our young development squad players to potentially spend some time out there... This is a team that beat Man City at the Eithad in the UEFA cup not that long ago...

FC Midtjylland

Some nice (and strange) things being said about MB on their site:

It's very surprising it here. With well-hat on, there are still exciting things in his profile. He looks like a passionate football man, and it's interesting with the large investment in Next-gen. Immediately similar to the FCM becomes a supplier of talent to Brentford, when (if) they reach PrL + sparring on talent.

This is big! a football man with skin and hair, go in and invest, buy all players free of investment commitments, etc.. and has huge ambitions. fact that he has invested money in NextGen tells me that his thinking is in line with the FCM's I get goosebumps of joy because of this.

Totally agree. The bubbles actually inside :-). Very good news for FCM - and well reviewed by our Board of Directors. / Cortez

I think that's exaggerating. Management has twice run the club into the ground and it has been necessary to sell to thousands and now a Brit ... Is it nice? Detailed little tragic. I do not know how cool I think it is being play equipment for someone who has no relationship to the club

Very interesting, perhaps we are going to get some players from them with skin & hair, and a well hat, watch this space!!!!

Does this mean we will see Petter Andersson in red&white?
If not send him back to Bajen...;-)

This might actually make sense for both clubs.

Welcome! Matthew Benham is a true football fan. So he'll be good for you - he won't just act as an investor looking to get the most money out, but as someone who also has a fan's viewpoint! Perhaps Brentford will be loaning some of our players to you guys as well? Who knows. It has been made clear the clubs will be run independently though.

FC Midtjylland

The translation would be something like; "trough and trough" = Med hud og hår. But it literally means with skin & hair

FC Midtjylland

Pione Sisto and Sviatchenko are both very good players.
They are, Pione Sisto is very young and interesting. Getting his Danish Citizenship next time round. 2 times a year in Denmark. Has lived all life in Denmark.
Sviachenko, might be the next big international player from FCM. Coming back from 4 month injury and operation in the foot.

FC Midtjylland

We are in the big league now - our very own foreign feeder club.
