They're only undisclosed to the public though. The football authorities will be aware of the agreements made so it's up to them to do their job properly.

The default is that the details are undisclosed; the details will be in the relevant clubs' accounts in the fullness of time. Given the complexity of most transfers, the ability of fans to understand the minutiae of even the simplest is debatable.

You wouldn't expect your employer to announce your salary increase if a journalist asked, would you?

It's more likely that both clubs want it undisclosed so as other clubs won't know how much they paid, ie the club has money to spend to up the price, or received, therefore orient have money to spend, so let's up the price.

It's not great for us as supporters, who would like to know the figures, but the FL and FA will have all the details of each transfer, so these bodies will know who has paid what.

Alternatively, the EPL club could just have bought him for, say, £2m, Orient would have been happy to accept and that would have been that.

But no EPL club did.

If O's should be peeved with anyone, it should be Barry Hearn, for it is he who is asset-stripping their club prior to pissing off, not Mr. Benham.

Strangely enough this is about the level that some people seem to expect. What a player is being paid, how much the transfer fee was etc may be of great interest to us but we have absolutely no right to expect to be told. I really wonder what planet people are on sometimes.

Just a thought but is there anything to stop the Danish club buying a player who we cannot afford due to FFP and then loaning him or selling him to us at an affordable rate. MB could make up the deficit in the Danish clubs accounts and we will have got the player that we wanted, just as if MB had funded it all along.

plenty of discussion on this in the previous 103 posts. the simple answer is "why not? it's his money". your question is too open - what do you want to know exactly? remember, at the end of the day we'll just be speculating on one man's private motivations, if that's what you're asking. but of course there's a lot of trust for that man, given everything he's done for us so far :)

My view after talking to Danish colleague is its a way of Matthew bringing Nigerian players into English football that have qualified for EU residency and have EU passports.

I know this is/was done a lot in Belgium, but that was partly because Belgian Nationality laws were more lenient/able to be exploited by Belgian football clubs.

Do you or your Danish mate know whether that could be applied to Denmark and its laws?

And is it only Nigerians, or is that the only country where Midtylland have good contacts?

They do have a lot of Nigerian players. I would like to think their is a benefit for Brentford like the opportunity to sign or loan their best players. However, I got to think that the Danish fans will be pissed off really quick, if everytime they develop a good player that he gets taken by Brentford. Of course there may be an opportunity for some youth and fringe players to go the other way but I dont think he has bought them to weaken their team, only strengthen it.

IMO he's bought into them because a) it has a good youth academy and b) it has the potential for European football

It's obviously up to MB how he spends his money, although I do find this worrying. I'm not sure why so many Bees supporters are excited about this? It feels like the wife is being unfaithful, but we are all happy to turn a blind eye. Perhaps we need to get a haircut, some decent clothes and start going to the gym....

The question is: who benefits could have the Brentford? Players on loan, marketing collaborations?

Don't see any issue, the Danish club have a good Academy as do we, there is scope for our players to develop over there and vice versa.

For both teams it increases the pool of available players on loan basis and for some will be a way to enter the English League

MB is a shrewd operator and I would imagine has looked at all the benefits across the board, he is however, first and foremost, a Brentford fan and I would imagine the greater benefit will be in our favour

Funny isn't it. Over recent times the club has announced colaborations with clubs in Iceland,ROI and Uganda? without a hint of money changing hands and everyone saw this as good. Now MB has decided to spend some money buying into an overseas club and some people are going into meltdown

FC Midtjylland have two very good young left backs ready to take over.
Jesper Lauridtsen is coming back after getting promoted to the superliga with Hobro. (loan)
He was voted the best left back in 1. division last season.

Jesper Juelsgaard to Evian, is the kind of transfer you want, when you have the replacement ready.
