The club frequently welcomes former heroes back to GP to be presented to the crowd.

This was a bit different, but it doesn't mean there will now be no other days for the likes of Bliss to get their opportunity.

Macca, Harley and Jake etc were all in the dressing room.

I doubt any of them gives a flying one what is happening out on the pitch during the interval (that's if they even know).

They have a point . Doesn't sound like fair play by FCM . Surprised at this doesn't sound like the sort of shenanigans MB or CC would endorse .

I assume it's just tit for tat for the old Trafford leg in which case maybe FCM should be defending their position better though two wrongs don't make a right etc ...

Did bees fans not pay significantly more than a normal home game when we played Chelsea??

Not good and very surprised an MB club has done this, bit worrying about what may lay ahead once LR comes along, they only charged Southampton something like £22.00

About a fiver more I think whereas this is £22 for Southampton and £71 for Man U . Maybe a bit of a difference there

Imagine we're in Lionel Road and still in the Championship, we draw Manchester United in the FA Cup and we must allocate 3,000 ticket to the away fans... what do you think we will charge as the headline price? Then look at what happens with ST holders and Club members, who will get discounts and 'advance booking' reductions. Admittedly, the away fans won't have the same travel expenses, driving from Surrey, but we can't be responsible for that. Take them for what we can, that's what I think.

I don't advocate ripping off any fan....Wednesday ripped us off sat and if more people didn't go then msybe they'd rethink there strategy...united fans going, paying the money and them complaining doesn't make much sense to me.

Except United's away support doesn't come from Surrey. They're proper fans - among the best in the country - and have to put up with this sh*t week in, week out regardless of how boring their team is at the time. Shame on FCM for joining the lost list of clubs who take the piss out of them.

The solution's very simple and always has been. Don't pay and don't go! I include home clubs in this. If you'd told me 20 years ago clubs would charge £30-£40 to watch division 2 football and fans would gladly pay it week in, week out, I'd have said you were bonkers. Clubs prey on fans' loyalty and it works almost every time.

That wasn't my point.

Say our "typical" away ticket is £30, meaning £90,000 in away sales, and that every £10 over that adds £30,000 to our revenue, what do you think we should charge those ManU fans, no matter how "proper" they are and how far they travel?

They will probably never get this far again

Man U regularly pay 60 or 65 quid on PL

It was a hypothetical proposition! One man's "ripping off fans" is another man's "optimising revenue". Given that BFC will always be constrained by revenue, what would you do? If the Club said "we've been really lovely to opposition fans from big clubs but we can't afford to extend the contract of a key player", what would your view be?

I think its only a select few seats at 71, I believe the price tapers away pretty quick beyond that

Sorry but there is no excuse for this. I doubt Cliff Crown thinks in terms of real fans though...

Tbf, FCM argued they want the game held at their ground, where there supporters live near and where the teams "home" is, the alternative would be to relocate to FC Copenhagen with a 40,000 capacity, but as a fan in this one off game I'd probably prefer to pay the money and watch it in my own ground then pay an average price in some nooby stadium, I imagine the atmosphere would be better if they played at MCH too
Imagine if we played Chelsea at Craven Cottage in the FA cup tie!

Well, with the risk of going against the general opinion in the thread I would venture out in explaining some of the reasoning behind this move.
First of all I should state the us FC Midtjylland fans are going to be paying the same price as Manchester United fans. There has of course been some who have complained about this but for the most part the fans support this move by the club for the following two reasons.
Manchester United is one of the most popular foreign clubs in Denmark because of their success in the 90's and Peter Schmeichel.
FCM plays at a quite small venue (a capacity of 9.500 when playing European matches). There has been extreme interest in the match from the large number of Danish United fans which means that there is a risk of them buying the tickets ahead of the local FCM fans. Not only buying tickets for the away section but also for the rest of the stadium.
By raising the price of the tickets you make sure that only the most dedicated fans will want to buy tickets for the game. Here FCM supporters are most likely more willing to pay a high price for seeing the clubs biggest match ever, than Danish United fans would be to see their club again a weak opponent.
Secondly the club of course also wants to make a financial gain when given the opportunity which doen't come along everyday. The alternative would have been to move the match to a larger venue which would mean moving it to Copenhagen or Aarhus. This would however be more of an inconvenience to the local fans and again reduce the number of FCM fans attending the game.



Also, bear in mind it is a generally expensive country but that is offset by much higher wages (a low paid job is around £11 an hour...)

For information, Manchester United away fans' single tickets vary from £31 to £58, Chelsea from £52 to £87; all London Premier League clubs have a top price in excess of £80. Of course, for home fans, Season tickets and 'club member' tickets will be less and most clubs do ticket books covering a smaller range of games.

When we reach the Premier League, there will need to be a period of adjustment for many, I think.

Better that FCM maximise their revenue than decide that they need a much larger ground and divert MB's attentions and funding to making that happen!

Let's say somehow BFC win the FA Cup next season and the season after get drawn at home against AC Milan in the knock out stages of the Europa League but are still at GP. I'd happily bin off going to see us away at Burton, Walsall and Gillingham to make sure I could afford to pay £100 for the AC Milan game if money was tight and I think so would most fans. Particularly if it meant that Ealing Road wasn't filled with a load of expat Italian bankers sipping espressos in the uncovered corner rather than Bees fans balancing a pie on top of their burger.

After 2 trips to Wembley and a trip to the San Siro, I'm not sure how many bees fans would be willing to pay £100 to go to Griffin Park

I don't think football supporters should ever be put in a position where they have to vote with their feet. They should be charged a fair price to watch their team.

I don't believe it's a logical/ethical argument to say the best way to ensure the proper fans get the tickets is to charge them more.

There is simply no justification for doing this and I feel ashamed that a club so closely associated with ours in involved in this! If we ever do anything remotely similar I, for one, will boycott the game.
