First Match

Just been discussing our first live football experiences at work.

I remember my Uncle took me (as an 8 year old) to see his beloved team in an attempt to indoctrinate me.

They lost. I didn't care. I liked the away team as they had nicer shirts.

Fulham 0-2 Burnley, Div 2, 1971:eek:

He took me quite a few more games but I never succombed.

Four years later we moved to Brentford and a 3-1 home defeat to Newport County had me hooked......

First Match

1965 home v Millwall-the hand grenade game. At the front of the Ealing end when Chic Brodie charged up the pitch. Copper took the grenade off in a bucket of sand. Bees and Millwall fans all laughing-a bloke turned to my Dad and said 'Don't see what all the fuss is about-you can see it's a dud' and Dad(ex Royal Marine) agreeing. 5 years old at the time and remember little else. Started going regularly the next season. Will be in the Ealing end on Saturday.

First Match

Mine was Qpr 1 Bolton 1. My dad attempted to make me a QPR fan, after a couple of games there (Including one against Wolves where Robbie Keane played as a 17 year old). I was not convinced.

Then my dad took me to Fulham and it was against Brentford (think he then wanted to be a fulham supporter). At soon as i saw brentford i knew they were the team for me. (Funnily i used to live in the tower blocks down green dragon lane).

First Match

5th October 1996 i was six and we beat Rotherham 4-2 Carl Asaba scored two we were top of the league! Never looked back since even though some players, teams and performances have scarred me for life i couldn't follow anyone else! Once a Bee always a Bee :sorted:

First Match

Met Police v Corinthian Casuals, FA Cup around 2003ish. met police won. :)

First Match

Brentford Vs Fulham. Sep 1980.

We lost 3-0 but the fighting was incredible!

it was 3-1 you big buffoon:nono: booker i think if memory serves me right;)

we beat them off the pitch though:sorted:.......50 or so fulham tried to take the royal oak and got hammered all the way down to the corner of the new road and old bill saved them from a total humilation.....led them round the pitch to the away end.....to lots of laughing and raspberry blowinglol

the cup game that season at CC was quite feisty as well.......massive brentford mob there but word has it that fulham got revenge on the streets after......from a reliable source as well

return league game at CC later that season saw bees play in ALL GREEN:eek: 1-1 draw and another massive bust up in bishops park after.....had that one down as a score drawlol:D

my first game ever was fulham v blackpool in 72.......first bees game v lincoln in 76.......beat graham taylors champions 1-0.......was hooked after that:sorted:

First Match

My first live game was QPHa v either Burnley or Aston Villa, can't remember which, all I known is that the away team [played in Claret and Blue.

My first Bees game was York City at GP November 1972, won 2-0.

First Match

first game was Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool, about 1988 i think. A bit boring as couldn't see much through the zoo cage fences they had round the pitch then.

Then Bees 2-1 Huddersfield in 1989. They wore purple, i was 9, that's all i remember.

First Match

Brentford 0 Cambridge 2 1976 at the age of 7.

Started going regularly 78-79.

First Match

My first official match was Swansea in early 1990 when we won 2-0 (Blissett and Holdsworth I think), but I cannot remember a thing about it owing to me being two and a half years old at the time.

I class my first match being the 1-0 home win against Reading in August 1993when Joe Allon scored the winner and the only memories I have were sitting in Braemar Road, Robert Peters running fast down the left wing and Brian Statham being stretchered off right in front of the dugouts following a poor challenge.

First Match

QPR v Liverpool 1976 I think. 2-0 to Rangers with Stan Bowles playing superbly, the away end did a version of Walk On just before kick off with all their scarves aloft and the Rangers fans clapped them at the end.:confused:Can you imagine that nowadays?

First Match

Brentford vs barnet 92/93 season. think the score was 1-0 and Joe Allon was the scorer.

When men were men! :D

I think it was Port Vale at home - Andy Sinton was playing so would have been around 86-87?

First Match

1-0 win over Watford in 2002 pre-season. Think Matt Somner got the goal...

First Match

3-2 win over Blackpool at the end of the 78-79 season with the Bees coming back from 2-0 down and all the goals being scored at the Ealing Road end where I was perched. Hooked from that day!

First Match

First live game - Arsenal v West Ham Sep 1977 (2-3 with goal of the season scored by Alan Taylor I think).

First Bees:

Bees v Udders, 2nd Jan 1978.

1-1 (I think Dougie Alder got our goal).

First Match

Peterbourgh vs Darlington 3rd div play-off final at the old wembley 99/00

think the Posh won 1-0

First Match

Long time back.
Bees versus Halifax Town. Old 3rd division. Think score was 0-0 or 1-1. Can't remember which.

1st international England Czechoslovakia. 0-0.

That made it to fatty Danny Kelly's Radio Five programme last night :sorted:

My first game was 20 years ago next month. We lost. And failed to score :grey:

First Match

First game was Brentford v Bury in 1973 in Division 4. Lost 0-1

First Match

Haven't we done this before?

My first Bees game was a 4-1 victory against Halifax Town in 1977, with Steve Phillips bagging a brace. I fell in love with the Royal Oak stand.

My first live football was Chelsea 0-0 Birmingham in 1973 (ish) - the worst game of football I've ever seen, in a dreadfully soulless stadium with a speedway track separating the pitch from the stands.

First Match

Man City V Liverpool With me Dad. Think it was around 71-72.. City won 1.0 think Summerbee scored..First Bees game,, think it was V Chester or Carlisle. And i think we won 3.2 or 3.1..AND i think it was 1987-88. See what 6 years in the Griffin, the Royal oak, The Bricklayers and the Princess does to a mans memory boys! Funny tho, i still remember the names of all the pubs!:cool::sorted:

The GPG is like rock 'n' roll. It's all been done before. Just some of the names are different.

I was only mildly shocked to find out that a vociferous Man Yoo fan in his 20s at work had never actually been to a league football match of any description!

Funny how many Bees had there first taste elsewhere (like myself) before they chose the righteous path.

First Match

Yep, me included

First Aston Villa v Burnley on Easter Saturday, 1965. Villa won 2-0 in pouring rain. Then on Easter Monday went to West Brom v Arsenal, a 4-4 draw.

First Match

My first game was in an executive box at QPR, which they lost to Notts Forest 1 - 2 and Franz Carr was the star of the show...!!!
Think they conceded in the last minute lol

First Match

First game was West Ham v Forest in 1975 with my sister who is a mad Hammer. Forest won 2-1 which sort of explains why I still have a fondness for them to this day.

First Bees game was 13th March 1976 V Lincoln City, Bees won 1-0 thnaks to a goal by Roger Cross !!!

First Match

A filthy lie!
It was the Freight Rover Final 1985. How could I forget!!! I was 7 and all I remember was it was very hot, Robbie Cooke's goal and my non Bees supporting uncle buying a Wigan scarf because he preferred blue!! never forgiven him :nono:

snap:sorted:

one other thing i remember from that game was that lincoln had a black player playing for them (one of the few in the league at that time) and got some horrendous grief from the brentford crowd.....monkey noises and all that rubbish......absolutely shocking looking back at it but in those days no-one really batted an eyelid.....strange times indeed:eek::nono:

First Match

First game was 1966 i think. Lost at home to Bristol Rovers 0-5. I thought things could only improve from there but bees were relegated that season

Indeed. One of my claims to infamy is that I was part of QPR's all-time record home attendance. You will be pleased to know that I was in the away end - as I'd asked my dad to take me to watch the League champions play.

Not quite sure of my first match; can anyone help?

Home to Bury in 95 or 96. I think Bees were top of division 2 and Bury were second. I think it was 2-0 to Bury (Carl Hutchings hitting the bar?) I have the programme somewhere with Joe Omigie and Ijah Anderson's autographs...
