Fitz as manager?

Did anyone read the article in London Lite this afternoon?
It said that after reviewing all the candidates, the board had decided to offer Fitz the job of manager at Brentford because of the positive way the team played on Saturday. Unfortunately I don't have the article with me, but perhaps somebody who does could enlighten me with exactly what was said.

Anyway, the official site says nothing about it so it could be total BS...

Fitz as manager?

Four more interviews to take place apparently - what the F*** do they know?!

Fitz as manager?

I hope he does get the job. All good managers have to start somewhere and he definately deserves it.

I hope not I'm afraid.. Why does he deserve it? Cos he's managed a draw at home? I'm sure he's doing a great job an' all and maybe one day he'll be a good manager but the last thing we need at the moment is someone learning the ropes..... :nono:

Fitz as manager?

Really? By who? I'll have money that David Heath, Ian Jones, Jon Gosling and Keith Dickens havent been yapping. Its a new start for BFC, hence why its not the put up job of last time, which the likes of Brian Burgess, John Herting and Greg Dyke should have to pay for out of their own pockets.

This time they are trying to be professional. Yes a few people might know how many got interviews but maybe not who has been. Sure, some others will have other football contacts but the leaks arent coming from the interview panel this time.

Fitz as manager?

They hadn't first last time either but LR was as good as given the job while others were led up the garden path

As many on here know BUT I honestly think this time is different. We have none of the idiots from last time involved. It gives us a chance at least :)

Do you really think the idiots from last time haven't got a Scooby who's in the frame this time? If tit-bits were thrown to the "rumour controllers" loitering outside the Griffin on Saturday, then I'd say Messrs. Burgess & Co had just heard and spilled their guts as per...

Fitz as manager?

Anyway, back to the point of Fitz being manager. From what I recall Fitz doesn't fit Mr Dickens template.

So Fitz gets the job then

Burgess and the others cant help but blab, its what makes them so pathetic. Lets see what happens after this evening. It will be interesting to see who was right and who was a million miles off.

I'd also point out that their fan club are just as bad...'do you want a drink...please tell me whats going on' lol rofl lol

See? You're as bad as the rest of them!!! :D

PS Between you and me, I think Neil Warnock's a great choice and everyone well welcome him with open arms. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

Harsh...simply saying tonight will happen but as for anything else...lol

you have to be joking about fitz. He's only worked with theyouth team. Maybe in 3-4 years he will be ready for man management. The reason we were better on saturday was, NO SKULASON. NO PINAULT. NO WINEGOM and no reject from Swindon

Yeah, and who was it that dropped them? (you forgot Tillen and Rhodes btw). And whose decision was it to play O'Connor in midfield, Cox up front and Ide on the right?

The fact that Fitz changed the team from being passionless and seriously lacking in confidence to put in a performance like that on Saturday (against the 4th best team in the league) means he should seriously be considered for the job, especially as it would save money to spend on players in January.

If the shortlist is what it was rumoured to be (Walker, Hollins and someone else who I can't remember) then I'd give it to Fitz every time.

Fitz as manager?

He might have just worked the youth team but there's gotta be something to say about having a guy who knows the club from the grass roots up in charge. Can we really afford to have figure come in and spend weeks tinkering with formations, looking at potential signings, imparting his management style etc???

I know its been touted before but maybe a director of football type individual to work along side Fitz could be a plan. Someone who knows the game, has connections with premier/championship clubs and can mentor Fitz. I'm just unsure whether BFC needs more upheaval at the moment especially considering the scrap we've got on our hands...

With all due respect BC, and I don't necessarilly expect a public answer, who gave you information?

If it came from one of the four, and I don't wish to cast aspertions, then they obviously have been leaking things. If it wasn't then you know where it's coming from at least one rung down the line.

I don't doubt that you know what's going on, history proves that, so you obviously have a good source. Just because they're leaking to you doesn't mean they're not leaking

Fitz as manager?

We all differ in our opinions, but I still stick with what I said about Fitz. I'm not knocking him in any way but at this moment in time i feel it's too early for him to undo the mess were in. otherwise he'll get treated the same way as LR was treated if it all goes pear shaped. I maintain the Bees can get out of the mess there in if they show the same effort th ey showed against Tranmere. Give fitza roll to play by all means. Maybe Assistant manager would be better. Stuff Basset, Hollins,Parkinson and co. Give the job to Liam Daish. No one knows the lower leagues better than him

Fitz as manager?

I reckon we should give the Wing Commander a chance :)

ONLY if he grows a big moustache though

Fitz as manager?

Its on the O/S...the way this process is going to be run...have I spoken with David for instance...err yes...as I do a few times on most normal weeks...we havent discussed potential candidates...its not for wider debate until the appointment is made this time...I respect that and havent asked of him on the subject...quite a shock for BFC but lets see if it improves things....

As for last time around...if anyone really believes any of the bullshit that Dyke & Co spouted....I do hope Santa pops in for a nice Scotch on Xmas Eve

On another thread when Spiderbee gave a list of those interviewed your response indicated that you knew exactly who had been interviewed.

Was that not the case?

As I said I'm not casting aspertions on where that list came from but if you have a list, and if others do, it must have come from somewhere

I agree, but with the sh*tty candidates excuse spelling(bit pissed) I would sooner have Fitz. I am not at all impressed with the so say chaps that have applied for the job.

For what it's worth I think the decision making panel appear to be handling things quite sensibly so far...ie no leaks, no 'we know who's got it, you don't nonsense'.
And for what it's worth on a purely personal level I hope they give it to Fitzgerald - after all why throw more money at an appointment who could POSSIBLY keep us up when it's money that could be used to bring in a couple of decent players who would DEFINITELY keep us up if we show the same passion as Saturday.
I think he spent the first two games trying to get the players fit which they clarly weren't before that and the changes he made againbst Tranmere suggest he knows what he's about.
But it's all about opinions.

Out of order. You seem to know what goes on most of the time, and I bet you don't get your info out of BB.
Thats what really pisses me off. Smug comments off a few smug people that should not be told anything.

Good post Jim. From what I've seen from the gossip on here , give me the Fitz.

well it would appear from Markbfc post on another thread that both BB and DH were at the BU Board meeting tonight.
It would also appear that BChap knows DH but does not like BB.
Both BB and DH would of course be in the know as to where the process is at present and it would appear that both are leaking info into their respective camps. There is a few drinks taken, and a few posts made with bravado and a bit of posturing, The "I know something you lot dont stakes" gets under way once more and Natasha (poor girl lol ) is charged with increasing membership of BUnited.
Well when things like this happen I just want to puke and it makes me and the group of people I knock round with realise that we are right to abstain from BU at present!!

I think that you will find that the DH at the BU board meeting would have been David Hawes. David Heath is not on the BU board and would not have been in attendance.

In an effort to help you stop puking I have not seen one post where anyone has been prepared to name those on the short list. If anyone knows then let them put up, state who is on the list and from where they got their information.

Fitz as manager?

I believe that SpiderBee named five people on the shortlist - sourced to a club employee. Whether his list was correct or not, I really couldn't say.

I’ve not applied for the manager’s job and I won’t be applying for it. I was told I’d be in charge for three games and that’s the final one. The board will decide this week what they’re going to do.

It was correct!
I have no reason to lie on here on any matter and I never have. It would not be prudent to disclose my source but, suffice to say, it came from somebody with a vested interest in the final decision!

I thought Fitz had ruled himself out of the job. I vaguely remember seeing a quote somewhere saying that he had taken the job on a three match basis and then was expecting to hand over to a new manager. Anyhoo, whatever happens it would be a shame for Fitz to leave the club as I think he has done very well with the youth team as well as getting the seniors looking like they can run further than halfway before looking like a bunch of wheezing old pensioners.

Yes and by doing that you have tainted others who have not blabbed to you but who also have "a vested interest in the final decision" whatever that means .......("a vested interest" is an advantageous right securely held by an individual or group) but no doubt you will explain it to us.

The same for Royal Oak Bee who has been speaking to one of the interviewing panel but clearly not David Heath .....he can't even get his DH's right and seemingly doesn't know which DH is on the BU board and who is on the BFC board. So that leaves either Keith Dickens, Ian Jones or Jon Gosling licking Royal Oak Bee to death and making him feel important by giving him the time of day. I don't believe one word of it.

Exactly..........someone supposedly runs off at the mouth to Spider Bee so he immediately rushes the names on to the GPG.
