Fitzgerald's warning

Fitzgerald's warning

I have sat and trawled through hundreds of posts in the last couple of days .. and yes it has been depressing reading .. and I am just a pissed off as everyone else at the current situation :(

With regard to the Fighting Chance fund , I personally feel it has to be spent now , thats what it was set up for .. to give us some kind of fighting chance to stay up

Theres been a couple of posts that have given me a bit of hope .. one from abee where he said he felt by the end of January there will be 4 teams in the division worse than us ( dont quote me word for word ) but that was how I remember reading it .. so he seems to maybe know something that most of us dont .. and RoyalOakBee's post about loan signings gives me the impression that he knows whats in the pipeline ... so its looking like that we could be getting 4 players in a week or so and possibly more by the end of January

I dont think we can really judge Fitz for at least a couple of months yet .. lets get some new faces into the team .. Fitz's choice rather than the loons that LR lumbered us with .. then lets see what he can do

I have decided I am going to make my first away trip of the season to Swansea with my 9 year old boy on Monday .. everyone seems to be expecting us to get tonked ,and maybe we will be .. but I love Brentford FC and always will and I feel its importaint to get down there and get behind the lads .. and you never know , that win might just come when you least expect it to

Kuffour played up front the whole game yesterday. Cox played left wing and ide on the right!

Not sure about the whole game. I thought Kuffour started left and Cox central, then they changed after about half an hour - at which point Cox, who had been relatively effective, dropped out of the game

Mark is saying we shouldn't have given MA any more money and he's trying to find out where this extra money is coming from? What's the issue?

The Extra money would have come from the following:

1) Increased crowds
2) being in the FA cup longer so increased revenue
3) Having players that are saleable assets - rather than having players on cotracts which are liabilities.

I expect that when the dust settles at the end of this season - the income vs the outgoings will show a much worse balance sheet than last season!

1) Increased from what?
2) Can you guarantee that?
3) We sold these already and are still in the sh*t. Would MA have stayed if these players had all been sold and the money put aside to balance the books?

Fitzgerald's warning

No-one's saying your wrong but we would also be in the sh*t if we'd thrown more money at the budget.

Not necessarily...a well thought out strategy could actually have seen us make considerable profit from increasing the budget!

As ever this is a risk, but as stated at the beginning of the season our current strategy also involves a great deal of risk....risk which most fans are only just starting to understand!

1) Increased from the current low attendances - FACT!
2) No I can't - but equally we can't guarantee that our current strategy hasn't pushed us towards Administration more rapidly
3) Your arguement here is weak - I am talking about players brought in - and we are all aware that players in a team at the top of the table are much more saleable than those at the bottom of the table.

Lets look at the balance sheet at the end of the season hey ....and see if this really was the best way forward?

The FACTS speak for themselves - last year we made nearly 1 million from player sales, a sizable amount from the FA Cup and a hefty percentage increase on the gates!

This already amounts to around 1.5 million that we will not have this year.

The problem is we didn`t have the stake to gamble with. We were already losing money under MA with a cup run.

Oh - and the MA thing is irrelevant...whether he was going to stay or not does not alter the fact that we should have appointed a manager of the calibre to take us up...not simply agree to a strategy that would take us down.

In my opinion MA made the right decision in leaving BFC

Fitzgerald's warning

no he didn't!

Jo, only went through the middle at 2-0 down really. And then he did some damage - getting through the centre of their defence on a couple of occasions but not shooting!

What are you talking about?

Ide played right wing for 90 mins and cox played left wing and was replaced by moore who made it 3 up front.

JK and willock played up front all game. Where were you sitting during the game..behind a pillar, if so you probably had the best seat.

No - but I absolutely guarantee we are losing more now - and have much lesser odds of getting out of this pickle!

Thanks God you're not in charge. So in the summer you'd have given Martin Allen a bigger wage budget because attendances would have been higher than if we appoint Leroy Rosenior and play like a team of donkeys. Any attendance increase should be in relation to last season not in relation to something that hasn't happened yet. Even Joe Bourke hasn't tried that yet.

2) No I can't - but equally we can't guarantee that our current strategy hasn't pushed us towards Administration more rapidly

So it's a crap argument then.

3) Your arguement here is weak - I am talking about players brought in - and we are all aware that players in a team at the top of the table are much more saleable than those at the bottom of the table.

Why is the argument weak? Did Leroy bring in players he thought would be bottom of the table by Christmas? Martin left because he wanted promotion. He would have been even more likely to leave if he'd had to rebuild the entire team.

None of that makes any sense mate - you are harping back to the problems with MA!

You are suggesting that no-one could have seen this situation happening with Rosenior, or the attendance falling etc....

Well yes they could !!- that is what management is about!! Having foresight.....

Not sitting on the fence and cutting costs because you can't absolutely guarantee something!

Open your eyes mate - I can't absolutely guarantee that I'm not going to get hit by a bus when I wake up in the morning - but I still get out of bed!!

What you are really saying is we should have appointed someone better than Leroy who would have done a better job with the budget he was given and we'd be mid-table. I'm not harping back to the problems with MA, you quoted a post on a discussion about whether we should have given Martin more money to spend FFS

What a ridiculous thing to say. You also forget we budgeted for a Second Round exit which was equally as stupid.

Dom, if you could have 100% guaranteed that I would have signed up to your methods but you can't so I won't.

Simon you are right to listen to abee who is actually in the loop, whereas my posts are the ramblings of at least one mad man and sometimes 2 or 3 depending if the lads are round.
My assumptions are based on putting peoples quotes together and trying to get them to stick to it and I am just happy that some fans are looking to be positive and to get behind the team which I am sure every single other poster will eventually do as well.
Up the reds!
