Mark for f**ks sake give the MA bit a rest will you. You and some of your ilk are wearing me out with this old record stuff.

If Martin was given that sort of cash to spend we would have been in administration by now. On that score I don't think we're out of the woods for 2007.

You can't spend what you don't have and if you do it gets you in serious trouble, which is what we're in.

Fitzgerald's warning

granted and what sort of mess are we in now? also the board is talking about extra money being available..is it me or, is that not more or less where we came in (MA and extra money)??

How much will we lose in Div2 which, is where we are going and what potential is there in this team? I suggest loads to the 1st (and possible aministration) and none to the 2nd...sorry give me MA and hope anyday over this shower of sh*te!

Suffice to say if he had been given what he wanted we would not be staring down the barrell now or paying off Leroy or being stuck with a hopeless basketball player..or for that matter bloody winegum (who thankfully has gone at last).

By not upping the spending MA went and surprise surprise now we are in the mire extra money is available :fishing: MK Dons? Wow they are suffering aren't they

How many times?!!! MA went regardless of the money.. He was going anyway, it was merely a good excuse for him, and who's to say he wouldnt have brought in more Willock's???

Fitzgerald's warning

Why no word from Dickens/Gosling etc on the new manager fiasco and what is the point of Greg Dyke?

I wouldn't bother IOW bee. It's like banging your head against a brick wall. These guys obviously know their maths.

...Dickens hasnt been seen since he last stuck his head up Greg's backside...

A lot of people are banking on a whole set of players coming in january but realistically what half decent player in his right mind is going to subject himself and his reputation to this mess. We couldn't get a second rate manager, some people at the club actually think we're going to get first rate quality players breaking the doors down to get here.

Ambitious and hungry players who want to make the grade.
In our situation, these can be considered a gamble but you want changes and you WILL get them!

Fitzgerald's warning

This is not a rant at you , but it's obvious to me that a lot of our posters have not seen this current team play(Or try to play) This team needs rebuilding. Alas this means relegation, Fitz is ****ed here as would any other team manager would be that has these clowns under his wing, If you think I'm being harsh here well so be it. I want to see a tean of bravehearts step over the white line , not seven ofthem holding up white feathers .

The combined genius of Wenger, Ferguson and Jose would bang their heads against the wall with this lot.

From where I'm viewing, Admin looks a certainty at some stage?

Mark is saying we shouldn't have given MA any more money and he's trying to find out where this extra money is coming from? What's the issue?

Fitzgerald's warning

Jim thanks for putting this on here. ROB is this really a guess or do you have some inside information? It sounds too detailed to be a complete fantasy but pleaaase for me and all the others who are hurting on here don't get our hopes up if this is being dreamed up in your head.

KD it is without a doubt a wild guess as it clearly states however in any business there must be control. If we going to give Fitz all the money in the emergency fund now then we really will be f@*ked!
Dyke and Dickens are running a business and so we can only hope that the situation is this

Winegum gone so squad minus 1. SF can replace him and bring AN other player funded from the EF.
See How results go
FF panel make money available to club and SF allowed to spend on 2 2 month loans at approx £1500 per player per week or 1 4 month loan.
See How results Go
SF gets rid of however many he can and replace but only on equal contracts
See how results go
One last player funded from the EF right at the death of window if we have picked up at least 9 points in January.

That is how I imagine it will play out.
The option of "All 5 in on Jan 1st" is just irresponsible management of the EF and I would guess MB would not sanction such an act!

ROB, what makes you think losing Clyde frees up some budget?

So BC you knew MA was going & that's a stone cold fact is it? What would have happened if the board had said ok here's your money? I'm all for slagging off the guy for deserting us but while you remeber Willock you also conveniently forget to mention the other players MA got in!!!

God give me patience after 40 years I'm getting pissed off with Bees fans

Not sure why you've dragged me into this :D BUT how many jobs did Martin Allen apply for during his time with us...surely even the most rose tinted glass wearer can see he wasnt in it with us for the long term...

This looks like the only important issue to me, is there another I'm missing?

You're right West Wilts!!

A bunch of arrogant we know something you don't a**holes!!
Think I'd be in the queue for a pompey season ticket if this bunch of lunatics took over the asylum!! Ooppsss I forgot they all snipe but none of them do!!

Fitzgerald's warning

and wasn't that my point Simon...the board are now freeing up cash we don't have to support a manager who has no hope of keeping us in League 1. Unless I've missed something!

Fitzgerald's warning

You were the one shouting Mark down about increasing the budget.

I don't think I was shouting Mark down at all Simon. I suggest you read my posts again (and before you ask that comment was not aimed at you either!).

I was merely suggesting strongly that if we'd backed MA in the first place we may not be in a situation where we are going to throw good money after bad in an attempt to stay up - and asking whats the difference!

Fitzgerald's warning

Regardless of whether the board supported him or not, I can't believe that Allen would've happily presided over the sales of Turner, Tabb and Sodje and not followed soon after. After all, he was negotiating with Tranmere even before he resigned ffs.

I can't see how the club can be blamed for Allen leaving. All good things come to an end and I don't believe he would have seen a new season in with us. IMHO.

Fitzgerald's warning

It adds up to the same thing. It's money we can't afford and we shouldn't be doing it. If we find out that our debts this year our being increased so that Scott Fitzgerald can fight a losing battle a bit better I will not be happy. If it's coming out of the pocket of Dyke, Herting, Benham, Rogers, etc. then fair enough and you're quite right to ask why they didn't give it to Martin.

Fitzgerald's warning

ROB, what makes you think losing Clyde frees up some budget?

I can only assume given the comments from Dyke and Dickens (at Fans Forum) "that Leroy was working exactly within the playing budget", that he had not by signing Clyde needed to go over even if the signing was for 3 months. They also offered Clyde the option of an extension if he impressed which suggests the money was there.
My guess is he was filling in for Lloyd who we all expected to be back by now and so there was no need to give him more than a three month contract .
Had he scored 10 goals in 10 games we would have kept him so the money IMHO is there within the budget.
Another of my wild assumptions but I hope carefully thought out even it is totally incorrect.

Fitzgerald's warning

Don't you start Les;)

I was asking who knew as a stone cold fact that MA was leaving. If someone has the evidence perhaps it would be a good idea to share on here and we could then put this to bed.

Theres too much bl**dy innuendo on the GPG and too many.. if you knew what I knew keyboard warriors if truth was told.

1. Backing MA or any manager who had not been previously dismissed from a League 2 side with a rational amount of money to remain competitive

or

2. Two farcical manager appointment processes and the prospect of flinging money at the problem now it has got out of hand.

The difference is that 1. constitutes a plan and 2. is a joke. I find it incredible that you are coming under this criticism for defending the first scenario. Anyone would think that BU reps were posting on this thread.

1 may be a plan but it adds up to the same thing moneywise. If we can't afford it we can't afford it, plan or no plan.

Cheers Simon thats a reasonable reply. I hope we beat the drop against the odds but financially going down will be a killer and any money chucked in now might as well be given for a good day out for the fans that are left next year!!

Whoever is in charge next year will need to rebuild whichever league we're in. I honestly don't think this lot can be saved and any new players will be looking to restore a bit of pride and fight to the rest of the season. Nothing more.

:) The events that happened were that he was in a negotiation with Tranmere before he resigned which was prior to the sale of Turner and Sodje.

I don't think the club sanctioned an approach for him so he must've sought the opportunity whilst still in our employment. If he was happy to accept Tranmere (who probably have double the budget we have) that you can be certain that he would've taken almost anything that guaranteed a bigger budget than BFC. The only way I reckon he would've stayed is if we sanctioned a budget comparable to some of the bigger spenders in the division and no-one could have condoned that.

Stop me if I am incorrect here Simon but isn't the EF fund exactly that....out of Benhams pocket?
The question is are transfers in a relegation battle an emergency or did MB put the EF in place to stave off administration? Or has Dyke successfully persuaded MB to allow him to spend a fair chunk of the EF on 1 or 2 players?
Dyke does not make wild speculative boasts of what money he is going to make available to the Boss for one simple reason...He cant without the permission of MB. Dyke has promised 1 or 2 loan signings and that money is not coming from anywhere else other than the EF IMHO.

Fitzgerald's warning

We could bring in a few fresh faces in Jan who may help us stave off relegation, but I doubt anyone can save us, and why would these so called experienced- quality players ( quote Mr Reeves) want to come and fight for us for peanuts, it just doesn't add up, someone is being economical with the truth ?

This will only paper over the cracks and problems like this will re-occur. The only solution for the future of BFC as a full time league club is to start to address the problems from the top down.

Dyke and Dickens should now do the honourable thing and GO....

It seems likely doesn't it? In my eyes the Emergency Fund should not be used to paper over a crap squad. The Chairman should pop an email round to his fellow board members saying "we're in a bit of a hole, our first choice manager has blown the budget on some duffers and the youth team manager has his eye on a few guys who could make us a bit less sh*t. Anyone prepared to put their hand in their pocket or should we just let Les Beeavinu off the GPG show us up?"

...Dyke is already on record saying that he wont be putting any cash in...happy to spend the clubs money though on crap managers/players...just not prepared to do the decent thing...

**** the politics .You give me the proof that we have not lost over 200 grand this season. not to mention what we are about to lose come Jan, plus lower gates. i dont give a flying **** if Ma or joe jordon managed this club.
We will go down and will be in administration. And what has happened this last six months is a disgrace. You lot believe what you want, give me the proof and I will shut up. Seeing as I'm one of the mugs that have thrown £1000's at this mess gives me a right to voice my concerns. What I said six months ago has come true. I always knew we would be in the sh*t, but not quite as deep as this.

My understanding of the emergency fund was that it was NOT intended to be used to prop up the playing budget but to be there for cash-flow emergencies of the 'unexpected tax demand' variety and also to see us through close seasons when no money comes in...

Your understanding is the same as is mine but if GD went to MB and asked him if he considered the current situation an emergency? What do you think his answer would be? They will have agreed to spend a % of it for sure and the Directors will between them match the FF IMHO to save any face they have left by a public showing of their "thanks to the fans and support of this great initiative" or words to that effect.lol

Fitzgerald's warning

letsallgo.... very true.

we will attract a couple of decent journeymen i hope --- 100% types --- like fitz and talbot were when they joined us. not big names but good solid pros with something left in the tank.

this is not the time for non-league wannabees or premiership youth team players. we need some ability but more than that some experience of trying to turn things round.

but the better players on the merry-go-round won't want to come to gp given our position.

Fitzgerald's warning

Fitz could be getting players in fro non league footy. Trouble is they dont exactly come on the cheap. We are supposedly looking at a striker from Dulwich Hamlet ,with 28 goals already this season. That's fine but I bet his fitness levels need building up. Surely there are plenty of british players out there who cant get a contract anywhere, thanks to the influx of foreign players. Regarding the EF. If were not on an emergency now FFS what is an emergency. Do you lot want to see the likes of Rochdale, Bury, Halifax etc. Not enough to lure me out of my nice warm armchair. The only player we have with any real quality is JK. Fitz can **** as many off as he can. Been following BFC for 58 years now and I'm ****ing ashamed of them all apart from Jo

Fitzgerald's warning

I have to agree that Kuffour is the only player giving me any form of enjoyment at the moment. Some of the others try a bit but their net output just isnt good enough.
