Forest match reports

A superb result & performance.
From the start we looked more confident and willing to play football. There were a couple of early scares, particularly when Nelly flapped at a cross he shouldn't have gone for & they hit the bar. Overall we were worth the lead at half time, chances were few & far between but IMHO we just edged them.
The start of the second half was poor, Tabby was caught out of position & they had 2 on Framps, which gave them time to deliver a great cross and finish, the only time that Forest won a siginifant headed challenge all game. We had to put up with some pressure then but fought well to hold them.
Peters came on for Fitz & looked like a headless chicken for a while, then all of a sudeen he clicked. He held the ball, challenged for it & laid on the second goal with a precision pass.
Forest's heads dropped after the second goal and we played like Leeds did that time, passing and moving to keep the ball. :)
Nelly had a good game, NO miskicks, some great saves. Just a couple of decisions could have been better. The back 4 were awesome, really little troubled throughout the game. Midfield was much improved, Pratley made it much more solid, Eddie was Eddie, Tabby, Isiaih & Marcus ran their legs of, Rankin often tackling back by our area. Fitz had little service but again worked hard.
Substitution seemed more positive this week, we wanted to win.
Overall worth the £22. :sorted:

Just back, Lovely day, 3 points and nice to sing 'your not famous anymore' to the Forest supporters that sat behind and directly above us :nono:.

Why did they shout out 'Peanuts'

Must remind them of their days at Arsenal......... lol rofl

Solid performance from the team but Pratley made such a big difference to our overall play.

With no Owusu, Brooker, Dobbo, and with Fitzgerald (sorry  ) and Gayle up front I thought we were in for a long afternoon.

Sloppy defending gifted them their goal at the start of the second half we had the ball gave it away cheaply and 1-1 resulted.

The arrival of Peters for the Fitzgerald gave us more pace up front and his movement and pass led to Pratley's goal.

Forest had no will to fight in the last 10-15 mins or so which was terrible.

Also praise for the referee who IMHO had an excellent game. :sorted:

Still largely immobile so could not get there, but the REALLY GOOD thing about this win is that A/ it was without a number of key players, and B/ said players have another week to move back toward full fitness, and then for a game against as team - MK Dons - who, while not being a push-over, will not represent one of our harder challenges this season. Maybe somebody up there does like us after all!!

Forest match reports

great three points-everyone played well especially eddie who ran his socks off.good to see nelson playing well-he needed that and his reaction to the first goal showed his love for the club.as said before, the fact that we won without a number of key players speaks volumes for our chances of going up this season but a defender and a midfielder scored-we still need a lot more from our strikers (although admittedly owuso was out, rankin was out wide and fitz is only 3rd/4th choice)

Forest match reports

Bit fortunate to get three points, I certainly think Forest deserved a drawer.

We had two chances and scored from them.

Forest had more possession, but created little in the second half. The first half Nelson was his usual flappy self. But second half he didn`t make a save.

I thought the goal was soft and having Pratley out of position due to coming back on the field due to a injury gained by a foul from Forest, didn`t help. :( :(

Fitz is absolute toilet and I cannot see how he is a professional footballer.

A very dodgy side today due to injuries, but apart from Fitz, I think they all did their jobs well.

Framps, Sodje, Turner, Prats were very good today.

On this performance Forest will be play offs at best. :sorted:

Peters set up Pratley well for the goal and he is slowly picking the knowledge of the game to go with his youthful energy.

Is your name Fitz????!! :)

Oi! Careful, young man. Actually, my IMHO view of Fitz the Younger is that he is one of those players who can only shine in a particular type of play. I agree that this makes him a bit of a liability for a lower division team, who are limited by their means (as are we), but I do feel that his ideal is a team who keep the ball on the deck and get it to their forwards quickly. There, he could be devilish. Trouble is, our Division is no respecter (sp?) of class, and i just dont think that Young Fitz will survive in a hoof ball environment.

"I certainly think Forest deserved a drawer."

To fit in their now empty trophy cabinet?

You Bees!!!!!!!!!!

Forest match reports

How well did Gayle play? I wasnt there but think he is our best option as a target man and given our style of play surely thats what will suit us best.

Forest match reports

I am, afraid the front two didn`t work and Gayle ran out of steam after 65mins. I think an ageing Gayle did more than Fitz though.

Forest match reports

Nelsons kicking alot better, great first half save frm a header.

Framps got overlapped a couple of times

sodje and turner were outstanding took care of johnno and dobie easily.

Gayle had a dodgy game overall apart frm last 20mins when he played well.

Fitz- not sure where he fits in

Tabby= MOM in my opinion played and distributed very well

Pratley and Hutch did well in midfield

great support from bees. " come and get ya peanuts frm forest" summed them up!

Forest match reports

Disagree completely about Gayle. I thought he did brilliantly in the second half, especially dragging the play out to the wings which enabled us to keep possession so much easier. I know he hasn't been great when he has played lately but today he did fine.

As for Fitz, I have stuck up for him in the past, but agree there is something missing. To be generous to him, it might be that he doesn't fit easily into our style of play and might do better in a team that likes to get crosses in from the byline for example. Doesn't seem to work for us though.

Peters looks as though he might be developing into a very good player. he has good close control and seems to have good positional sense too. Could give Brooker a run for his money, although on todays showing he might also have something to offer playing in a more central role.

Pratley could be the missing link in our midfield. For too long we have needed a central midfielder who could also act as a "runner" and not just as a stopper. He started a bit slowly today but by the end of the game had shown what he is capable of.

Central defence pairing hardly put a foot wrong. No real complaints about the keeper who did as well as could be expected with his kicks and also made a couple of decent saves.

Forest look like a team with potential but they let their heads drop far too quickly after conceding. Bit like their crowd really.

Forest match reports

For a bees fan living in Nottingham with all ya mates being Forest fans it was a cracking result today.

Thank you.

Forest match reports

Was walking out of the game and cahtting to some Forrest fans whose view was that we deserved to win and particularly singled out Marcus Gayle for his ability to hold up play . One thing i never expected to hear was that our midfield was the better of the two, this their opinion and not necessarily mine!!!

Overall was a hard fought game and it has to be said that the \Bees were up for the battle more than Forrest ( and their supporters!!!) when they equalised at the start of the second half i thought we could be in for a tough time, but the lads slowly got back into things and the way we played once we had the lead was extremley impressive. Is this the same Brentford???!!!

Nelsons save in the first half was good and the back 4 their normal proffessional selves, Sam looking back to fitness, Prattley started very slowly but i guess he has not had much football yet this season, up front Gayle did well, Rankin ran around a lot and whilst not anything special Fitz tried hard to fit the role of a lone ( ish) striker.

The pass from Peters to Prattley to score the winner was sublime and that is a lad who is improving with every game.

An enjoyable afternoon with the added bonus of going to Hooters to watch England play, was distracted there so did we win!!!!!

An excellent display (although I missed the Forest equaliser) and we thoroughly outsung the home fans other than for about 10 mins after the equaliser. I was in the corporate hospitality area and had the privilege of talking to old Forest heroes from the European Cup winning days, JP McGovern and Kenny Burns, both of whom agreed that we definitely deserved the 3 points. I also had the chance to get a photo with their man of the match Commons, who was their only decent player, and told him I still didn't forgive Stoke for beating us in the play offs.

Sitting in the home area in the main stand I think that some of the reports (other than in relation to the completely anonymous Fitz) were unduly harsh. My first game of the season and in my eyes we look like a team who should both be challenging at the top and who could cope with promotion if we made it.

Sodje and Turner are an amazing central defensive partnership and Nelly's all round play, particularly his kicking has come on tremendously.

We are top of the league!

Forest match reports

U didnt miss much with the equaliser just a cross and header standard stuff but you knew he was going to score when he crossed it you could sense it.

I am so happy for MA and the troops they never gave up at all today,
Happy with pratley as this was his first real competitive game today and his cool finish had class all over it,Peters that boy is getting better and better every time he plays,Gayle great old head, tabby run his socks of,fitz tough game by himself up front but done well to take defenders out the game, defence solid,Nelson top saves good kicks and sufe handling.
I have the worst type of flu bug I have had in years today and must have lost a stone in sweat but it was worth going through the pain to see the mighty bees beat a team like Forest just ruddy brilliant, hail sir Martin.

Forest match reports

Forest mates were saying the Peters pass to Pratley was a cracker, also said forest played into the hands of the bees by playing it long to Johnno and dobie which suited us, they said commons was their only threat (which i agree) and once you get him out of the game they dont have anyone else to create.

Thought there might have been a few more forest today, their attendance is slowly fading away.................. bit like their title hopes ;)

as i said before cracking day out

will have to watch the championship tomorrow morning 9.25 ITV to recreate that feeling :sorted: :)

Forest match reports

Nelson caught everything and there's no point in criticising where it's not due.

Forest match reports

A top drawer performance from a makshift team.

First half was pretty even, we got the ball forward quickly and Tabb looked lively but I was fairly suprised we got a goal, good work from Frampton to get into the right place at the right time after Fitz and Rankin had made a mess of a great pull back from Tabb.

Forest came at us big time after the break, but I think if we had our full compliment of players on they would not have scored.
The ball was worked out well to the right, the cross was good and we weren't ready for it any any way, shape or form.

The game changed when Peters came on. Fitz was ineffective, despite working hard, but Peters was superb. It also allowed Tabb to move inside and once we matched 3 vs 3 in central midfield we hardly lost the ball.

Great move for the winner and TBH it was comfortable seeing it out.

What a day :sorted:

1 fan behind me singing to forest :

i thought that was very bad

Forest match reports

Fantastic stuff. Apart from the first 15 minutes of the second half, we were the better team. No idea where Megson gets the idea that his team hit the woodwork three times from - not exactly difficult to count to one, is it? A great return by Darren Pratley, and superb performances all round. Top of the league and that's no fluke.

Today we went to the ground of a team that has twice won the European Cup - and won ... what a great day to be a Bee! :bound:

Forest match reports

What a great result and it totally shows when you have a manager like Martin Allen what can happen.I honestly believe he really motivated the players that little extra today. We went to a ground that 5 years ago was playing host to Arsenal and Man Utd.I personally believe he told the players to treat it like a cup final and give that little extra.Don't get me wrong the players have to perform but we seemed a lot more up for it than Forest.Problem is with Forest they have to many players living on previous glories where are our lads are more hungry.

Sodje yet again fantastic,is their a better header in this division as a centre half?

COME ON YOU BEES!!!!!!!!!!!

apparently Forest took the lead at the start of the 2nd half

I thought that when you scored to draw level it was called an equaliser...
...dullards...

I thought we looked the part yesterday (except for Fitz - why does Martin persist with him? I never seen a player who looks less up for winning the ball and doing his part for the team). Marcus showed his experience when we held the play up for the last 10 mins or so. Pratleys goal was very well taken. Everyone did a job for the team (including the 1238 Bees that made the journey - great support :sorted: )

A cracking 3 away points for the mighty Bees :D

Thank you BFC :dj:

Forest match reports

I'm surprised we haven't had the usual "It was their cup final" nonsense trotted out, that's what we normally get when these so called 'big' teams end up in our league....

Watched the highlights this morning, didn't seem to show too much of us but a great finish from Pratley and a lovely little ball from Gayle to Tabby for the first goal, we've now got a week to get people fit and hopefully MA will have team selection problems of a different kind next Sat..
