Forshaw Fee
Unless my info is wrong, that's a wild exagerration mate. Peterborough have only ever sold 1 player for over £3.5 million. It was Dwight Gayle to Palace for £6 million.
Peterborough's actual numbers are a moot point to a certain extent.
Our players need to get used to being the subject of transfer speculation and cheeky bids, even if those bids are significantly higher than what we are used to seeing. Taking Adam out of the 1st team environment sends a clear message to the rest of the squad that they need to behave in a professional manner whilst they are still under contract at Brentford. As a club, I am sure that if an offer meets our valuation then we will not stand in the way of a players development and we will let them move on. However, if the fee does not meet our valuation then the player needs to find a way to focus on the job they are paid to do until such time as an offer is accepted. The respect between club and player has to cut both ways and I think we have handled the situation perfectly.
Whilst the rest of our squad gears up for the opening day, Adam is sat at home meditating on his future. If nobody meets our expectation, he should be reintegrated and this should put some fire in his belly to prove his valuation. The alternative is that he gives up and plays half-heartedly which will do nothing to improve his reputation and get him the move he wants. This is why we chose players carefully to ensure they have a good temperament so they don't throw a complete paddy when their employer disagrees with their personal desires. A bit of space to realise this will do wonders for his career in the long term whether that is with us or elsewhere.
