Windies cricket makes me sad.

I went on a cricket tour to Barbados in 1998, we obviously chatted to locals about their national teams and they all said the same thing - cricket was too expensive for kids when they could play basketball or football with just a pair of trainers and a ball.
There clearly hasnt been any more money put into it in the last 25 years and its very sad to see as they have created some of the best cricketers the game has ever seen.

Well done Zummerzet - they definitely deserved to win the T-20 this year. Apart from Sams, Essex didn't really bat much better than Surrey did in the semi-final but credit to Zummerzet for bowling well in both matches. Great catch to end the match, too!!

I wonder if any of the West Country Bees will be celebrating this evening.

I was planning/hoping to go to at least one if not two tests in India but the venues seem so far away from international airports that it’s going to be way too complex a trip.

Ha trust me travel within India is easy. I am going to the WC for some games but not looked far ahead to the test series. Although I have never been would highly recommend Dharmasala for the last test. From there you can go to Shimla. Amazing views. Go from London to Delhi and connecting flight. Equally - Hyderabad is a must for foodie lovers and decent bars and clubs. But only issue is they are the first and fifth test. Logistics shouldn’t be an issue. Rajkot I know well but it’s a dry state but you can drink in your hotel rooms and not much non-veg options. Vizag and Ranchi not sure as I’ve never been but will do research nearer the time.

If you are looking for the big cities - then why not head to the WC in October and November? Plus perfect time with the rupee rate around 105-106 so very cheap (ish), although flights are expensive but that’s the case with all travel at the moment. PM me if you need more info.

I hope West Indies beat India in the ODI decider today. Only Dravid and fat boy Rovid thinks it a good idea to experiment a couple of months before the World Cup and continue to give players that have consistently failed at this format game time. Absolute tw*ts !!

All ended up pretty good - we'll be able to cite viewing figures of around a million over in India as we search for more sponsors and funding, plus generated some good clips... i even got a game and a wicket, but just realised i still can't post my own videos on here so I'll spare ya... here's a good bizarre run out from the final, my mate Aditya was going great guns but then the throw in hit him on the helmet and bounced down onto the stumps, poor lad. Fortunately the national team captain came in and finished the job off, much as he did in our domestic league final when he lurked down at number 9 and did just enough for us to win by one wicket with two balls to spare.

Been around years. Although used more memorably by David Lloyd, he is mimicking Brian Johnston who always used the term.

Google says;

A "moll-buzzer" is archaic street slang for a pick pocket who targets women. "Buzzing" is picking pockets so presumably a "Buzzer" would be someone who steals on the sly....which is exactly what you do when "stealing" runs for an overthrow.

Thought that I'd pop along to the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy 50-over game at the Ageas today and it was an enjoyable experience.

There was some decent batting, bowling and catching on show, but the one area where the men are still miles ahead of the women is the ground fielding. There are definitely some good women fielders around but others leave something to be desired.

Anyway the Southern Vipers won fairly easily in the end, and I would be happy to attend more games next season. The price (£7) was also a bonus!

I used to coach both the New Forest district boys and girls and the biggest difference in the fielding was confidence.
I ran drills to attack the ball and the boys used to fly at it with no fear of missing it, whereas the girls tended to be more worried about missing and slowed to make sure they fielded cleanly - same as when i wanted to work on diving for a ball, the boys chucked themselves everywhere and only about 25% of my girls wanted to do it.

England ladies secure a convincing 2-0 series victory in the ODI series v Sri Lanka with the second of the three matches being rained off when England were also in a very good position.

In today's last game, Nat Sciver scored 120 in her 100th ODI, Maia Voucher got 95 and Charlie Dean picked up 5 wickets. All in all a pretty decent performance against a Sri Lankan side that surprisingly won the T20 series 2-1.
