As an aside, I'm not sure what the umpire is doing/standing in this computer generated picture!

Probably admiring the view, those stands would be a tremendous addition to Lords

I was reading a fabulous article in The Guardian in their The Spin column and it was about Walking Cricket !! I have been very close to the game for most of my adult life and I was totally unaware of it. Anyone know anything about it??

I moved to Wiltshire last September and had a hip replacement in December so I am desperate to have a go at this game as I really miss playing and feeling ready to go now! I emailed Wiltshire cricket about it, even offering to run things if they haven’t embraced it yet but no reply!! ????. Anyone aware of it or played it or know anyone that’s involved??

Is the pitch still going to be one of the worst in the country though?

Thanks jim, I will see what they have to say. Not a word from Wiltshire ?
I did a big project a couple of years ago... i won't bore with the details, it didn't work out :( but along the way, i reached out to 5 or 6 leagues, after lots and lots of research, with simple questions looking for advice on things we could do building Czech Cricket etc. Only one of the f***ers even replied (and that was to redirect me to some resource website with not much info). Some real dicks in cricket admin, unfortunately :(

I've walked away from it all again - the only part that really interests me locally is the youth stuff, where a mate of mine quit his job and set up a non-profit so that he could focus on it. Very tough sledding. But i am one of the veterans that he can turn to to lead the teenagers in the field. I've always loved fielding, which is fortunate cos it's the only bit I'm even mediocre at ;)

Season debut on Saturday. Turned out myself and the other mid-40s chap hadn't been registered, so we were only allowed as sub fielders and couldn't bowl. We made a deal that we'd play through and bat 10 and 11 (although the official match closed when we lost our 8th wicket). We lost by 99, but some good talents - Czech lad kept wicket, then bowled 4 overs and went out to deep midwicket as our gun fielder, then opened the batting and top-scored. He was so happy when he came off, his first ever official score of 30.

I came in halfway through the 19th over, 5 not out, one in the slot went flying, cheers mate, and then tipped and ran so that the kid at the other end could get a go. Otherwise had 3 or 4 efforts in the field that were only a metre away - very frustrating, should be getting closer. So didn't add much value, but a very enjoyable day out nonetheless :)

World T20 starts tomorrow with more teams than ever .

It is good to encourage new nations to progress and perform but the trouble is these tournaments do drag along .

I find the t20 and the champions trophy go quickly. As every game matters. Huge fan of both.

However they really need to change the formate of the actual world cup as it is so dull!

Yes actually doesn’t look too bad tbh .

Guess they can play 2/3 games a day .

2 wins from 2 so far. Looks as though you saw a good game at Taunton badger. I'm never disappointed to see Essex lose!
??
Yeah, was looking like it was gonna be even closer between Somerset and Essex. But a flurry of 6s in the partnership between Gregory and Abell meant it was relatively straightforward in the end.

? Incredible stuff.

Why does it take one of the batsmen so long to realise that he could easily get in at the other end after the fielding side made such a balls up of things?

And why does the fielder with the hat not just lob the ball to the keeper rather than throw it at the stumps instead (Answer: I suppose that he'd have missed the keeper and the ball would have gone for 4 overthrows!!)

Sky not showing any domestic T20 games while WC is on??

Does seem that way.

But they will show the monstrosity in August. When there is no actual cricket to watch.
Guess counties are live streaming their games though?
Seems Surrey are today at least.

Most do. Surrey is very good.

However the Glamorgan stream on Friday was pretty poor. Kept missing where the ball was going!

Hampshire steam on Thursday was even worse. Commentary was awful as well, apparently Roy was a huge wicket as he was "motoring", when in he reality he scored 21 off of 24 balls.

Some streams use to have a static camera, I know Middlesex did.
