Test cricket started in 1877. India just smashed the fastest team to reach 50 and now 100 runs in test cricket.

Jaiswal is some talent.

Good to see them copying bazball ?
“When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we (England) should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket,”

Thank you England for inventing attacking shots in world cricket ?

Hampshire have been taken over by the owners of Delhi Capitals (and other franchises across the world). Doesn't include the Hundred team based at Southampton. Hopefully another IPL owner will see the opportunity at Middlesex - world famous ground without the overheads (let's gloss over the rest).

Hampshire agree 'dream' takeover by IPL group - Hampshire announce takeover by Delhi Capitals co-owners GMR Group

Some dream. Today's a sad day for English cricket

Well played India ?? ?? a satisfying win more in the manner India played. Without the WTC, it would have ended in a draw and the WTC is best thing that has happened to test cricket in recent years.

To add - Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest centurion in U19 cricket at international level. He is 13. Inspired to take up cricket by Ben Duckett.

Just 95 needed to win .

Ok it’s Bangladesh at home but still good going to win in 2 days .
Good for India, but not good for cricket.

If you need a bit of (silly) cricket, my Czech friends are trying to win "division two" at the "European championship" T10 today, before the big boys start in earnest tomorrow.

We're in a group with Isle of Man, Greece and Estonia. The plan for today is to play the last two group matches, then 3rd vs 2nd with the winner playing 1st in the final this evening.

We've had a bad couple of days so sit in 4th, but if we thrash Isle of Man (starts in a few minutes), we'll grab 3rd. Unlikely though.

I would not be surprised if Adil Rashid had a little word in the ears of the selectors. I do believe he once got Joe Root out - could be wrong. Big up to the South Asian Cricket Academy. Lots of talent there.

Some cracking test series matches over the next 15-18 months. India in Australia in Nov/ Dec, England v India in 2025 and then England in Australia next winter. Not forgetting the test matches in between but these are the big ones.

I'll be in the Asia Pacific region in November and in two minds whether to go to the 1st test in Perth when India play Australia and then still make it back for Leicester at home. Demand for the ballot for England v India has reach high levels for a non-ashes series and I have already gone with hospitality for the OT test in July for the first three days. I equally suspect there will be significant numbers of England fans travelling next winter to Australia. The popularity of test match cricket is there for all to see. Need the other nations to step up.

Interesting start to the Women's T20 WC.
Bangladesh defended 119, against Scotland, and Pakistan 116 against Sri Lanka.

But his work in a net bowling session for England's T20 squad caught the attention of Joe Root, followed by his introduction to SACA, which led to a first deal with Yorkshire.

His dad Mesam was a might fine allrounder. quick, chest on bowler who bowled massive inswingers!!!

In a week full of cricketing records - India just recorded the 2nd highest T20 total and the highest by a full member team. 10 November 2022 was a humiliation but the best thing that ever happened to India's white ball approach. Been battering teams ever since ....

Very forgettable tournament so far, lots of one sided games. Hopefully get some competitive semi finals.

Sadly, an embarrassingly poor performance in the field v West Indies in the Women's World Cup match means that England will not reach the last 4. Five or six catches have been dropped so far, including one absolute sitter.

Two sitters - Capsey and Bouchier? Though the WI also dropped a sitter, so perhaps it's tricky when the ball goes above the lights?

But they didn't score enough runs - a shocking run out early on didn't help, some poor shots and perhaps they felt the pressure. And the first over set the tone in the field, 14 conceded with poorly directed quick bowling. Pace off was clearly the way to go on that pitch - a real coaching fail.

Serious question but do women play with the same size cricket balls as men? Catching a cricket ball is quite difficult with smaller hands as the ball tends to strike the hand and not nestle.

Todays the first day I’ve had chance to sit down and watch this series .. I see Gower is back! … is he working for Sky or Pakistani tv?
He is working for a Pakistani broadcaster I think.

Well that's slightly annoying. I was hoping that the Adelaide test was straight after the Perth one. Was going to drive between the cities. No New Years Day test at the SCG either. :banghead:

Fat boy decides to bat in those conditions with the ball seaming around and India play three spinners ans drops Deep. Anyway India currently 13/3 against. NZ - Kohli out for a ? when he comes in at number 3. Make sense of that.

General Cricket Thread

34/6!!!! ?
Classic case of Indian management team selecting a team for NZ weaknesses against spin rather than selecting a team based on conditions. Having 3 spinners then Rohit had no option but to bat first. Have no idea why they sent Kolhi in at number 3 and Khan at 4. Bonkers but taking nothing away from NZ they have bowled superbly. Expecting Pant will go into attacking mode post lunch.
