Gillingham

Gillingham

Looking forward to travelling to Gillingham. This will be my first game of the season...

Gillingham

504 tickets ! Surely we can take more than that ?

Gillingham

It may be the capacity of the scaffolding structure the away support is condemned to. As a one-time resident of Kent, I especially enjoy going there and beating them.

Gillingham

..............an absolute hovel of a ground.............detest paying for that temporary stand.............

To be fair i think its a decent ground apart from away end.

Gillingham

Depending on work commitments i'll be doing this one.

Relations live on the Isle of Sheppey.

Gillingham

Still scarred from 1st ever away game... The 3-1 up with ten to go bugger we've lost 5-3 FA Cup game early 80s.

I was stunned after Donny Rovers like everyone else, but that game is in a different league.
Packed up smoking for 5 years after that game.Packed up talking. They drew Everton in the 4th round too.

My old man recounts that game on a regular basis. He apparently came home to his old man saying "at least you are still in the hat, son", thinking it impossible good old Brentford hadn't capitulated completely from 3-1 up.

He says that we did something similar against Leicester in the Milk Cup around the same time?

Yep , following season i think or the one after. 2-0 up with 12 mins to go, lost 4-2. Lineker and Lynex doing the damage

Gillingham

I fly back into Gatwick at 12 noon, on the 17th, my shadow has said, "we can still make the kick off!" She's very keen! I doubt if we'll go though, too much hassle in getting their and back home, especially with suitcases in tow!

First game back on the 24th v Walsall. Cannot wait....

Bad dad, plenty of time to make the game.

Gillingham

I can never think about Gillingham without remembering that first year of the BBC's Football League show when they had 'Lizzie' who used to read out Fans View emails received from viewers. She read out one from a supposed Gillingham fan who gave an account of the bad news that whilst he had been watching his team at Charlton that afternoon, someone had stolen his caravan.

Lizzie offered her deepest sympathies and told him she hoped he got it back soon!!!!

Both her and the Fans View bit of the show were dropped soon afterwards!

Gillingham

i wish i could but banana doesnt like anything that involves historical 'off the pitch' shenanagans :(

it was lively though lol

Hmmm yes, our minibus was late coming back because we had to do the rounds picking up some of the boys from various police stations.

Gillingham

Will be first proper game of the season for me as off on holiday tomorrow - Can't wait!!

Gillingham

How many will we take? Can't wait personally.... Martin Allen is a Brentford Fan.... :D

Gillingham

Is that boozer we used to use in the early 80's, The fleur de lys, still there??

Not to sure.I havn't been to Gillingham for a while. Not to sure I could remember where it was/is.

Worth a look for old times sake.Used to come out of there worse for wear.

Gillingham

I think the Fleurs De Lis, on the corner, is still there but it's a real dive. The Southern Belle is a better pub, opposite the station going away from the ground on the corner of the High Street.

It pays to know the alleyways around the ground for a getaway, although the days of metal dustbins are probably long gone.

He did score ( and Kamara ? ) dont know if it was his debut though.

I'm sure it was, he scored after a few minutes and then scored again a few minutes later but ruled out for offside, amazing night even with the madness at the end, we were simply superb for 78 minutes and were a class apart from a very good Leicester side..................

It was lively in the paddock and outside the Bricklayers on the return leg as well......................

Gillingham

In the usual group of about 40 of us who go to aways, only 3 going to this one. Bad experiences enroute to the ground, in the ground and having to see Martin Allen's pathetic touchline shenanigans ( like at Notts County ) have put people off.
