GPG Technical Issues

It really isn't a big deal. I shouldn't have mentioned it

@Banana
As @Roman Bee said .... in dark mode (per my laptop also) the notes column is totally black ... how about setting the background as a colour ie white for that column ... hmmm

My view has changed, I think away from GPG Mobile (if that’s what it was) but I’m not sure how and I don’t see it as an option. Is this just a me issue?

Do you mean the theme, it's right at the bottom Screenshot_20260819-190115.png

GPG Technical Issues

Yes but it just says Default and GPG Style. Isn’t there usually a mobile version?

You can see the "mobile version" when the window is narrowed. It's dynamic, not a setting you select

There are also two settings there. One for the style and one for dark/light mode.

Thanks, I think I’ve done something myself which means it now not showing the mobile view even though I’m on my iPhone.

GPG Technical Issues

I’m in that weird place where I’ve been looking at something for many hours a day for 20 years it’s changed and now I can’t recall what it should look like! 😂

GPG Technical Issues

Is there usually less detail than this in mobile view? Or am I going insane?

Yes that is not what I would expect to see on (say) an iphone. Have you restarted your browser? or tried a different one?

GPG Technical Issues

Yep, closed app and restarted and cleared cookies and history. No change. Think I may have pressed something with the GPG open but not sure what and can’t work out if I’ve changed something.

GPG Technical Issues

The ‘A’ size in the address bar, which I am guessing is screen size as you suggested.

GPG Technical Issues

i'm experiencing a low-level frustrating UX glitch whereby I'm not getting taken to the latest unread post in a thread. Manifests differently in different scenarios:

- When I click to a thread under 'Forums', I get taken to the beginning of that thread (regardless of previous engagement)
- When I click through under 'New posts', I always get taken to the top of the page containing the latest unread post (rather than the post itself)
- When I click through a reaction to one of my posts, I get taken to the top of the page containing my post.

Happens with both Safari and Chrome, so not a browser thing. Have I somehow changed a GPG setting?

Thanks

There's no user setting that could change that behaviour. I know it's a turn it off / turn it on again answer but I might suggest you log out (important), shut your browser, clear your cache and log back in again but before you do, how long has this been going on and does it happen on all devices you use? I will confess that I can't recall what the expected behaviour is for what your describing so if you could do the above and it's still happening, I'll take a deeper look. Nothing has changed at site level.

Thanks Les - appreciate the quick reply!

Tried what you suggested, and unfortunately didn't fix the issue on my laptop. Then tried on my phone, and all seems to be working OK. So it's clearly a device-specific thing.

Then it occurred to me that I experienced similar(ish) glitches on a different site yesterday - after I installed some StarTech firmware onto my laptop (to enable me to use external monitor/mouse/keyboard via a docking station). It may or may not be something to do with that. Either way, clearly not a GPG issue.

FWIW, based on my phone experience just now I think expected behaviour for each of the scenarios listed is:

- Click to a thread under 'Forums' > go to beginning of that thread
- Click through under 'New posts' > go to the latest unread post
- Click through a reaction to a post > go to that post

Thanks again.

<- Click to a thread under 'Forums' > go to beginning of that thread > If the thread is unread, you should be taken to the last unread post. If the forum is read but you want to go the last post, click the time last posted instead of the title link.

Makes sense - thanks.

Also, if the most recent unread post is by a member you have on your ignored list, you will be taken to the top of the latest page if you click on that thread (we'll at least that's my experience)

Hi Les

I find that if the forum is read and I have the last poster on ignore then clicking on either the thread title or the time last posted takes me to the first post on the last page rather than the last post.

This has been the case since the November 25 upgrade.

GPG Technical Issues

Sorry Les - opened a can of worms here! :ROFLMAO:

(FWIW, I fixed my issue by tweaking Accessibility settings.)

Sounds like expected behaviour to me tbh.

I am too, I just ignore all recent posts up until the latest, only if the latest post I must have missed something do I go back and try to find where I was, which I have little chance of finding

GPG Technical Issues

Really? OK.

I'd expect it go to the last unread post if there was one, last read post if there wasn't.

But I've coped so far, I s'pose.
I don't know think it records what the last post before the last post that was ignored (which is the true last post) was because it would be different for everyone.

Yes, ignoring posters brings in a whole lot of "unexpected" or rather "unintuitive" behaviour and therefore I would advise against using that feature.
