Great BFC Comebacks

Can anyone remember the last time we came back from 3-0 down. I seem to remember Matthew Benham mentioning an astonishing comeback from 4-1 at Doncaster years ago in the GPG interview. . But that's the only reference that is anywhere close at the moment and that would have been in the early 80s.

Great BFC Comebacks

No, not off the top of my head, there maybe others, but not recently that I can think of.

Great BFC Comebacks

the best comeback ive ever seen us make, and against the in form team above us in the play offs, made all the sweeter that it was against them

never seen us that far behind and get a result.the only time ive seen us 2-0 down and win 3-2 was in a friendly against Reading

Great BFC Comebacks

we were 2-0 down to Swansea at home about 15-20 years ago and won 3-2, can't think o fmany others

Great BFC Comebacks

And what makes it even better in my opinion is that they fought back from being 0-2 down after 8 minutes and going in at half-time 0-3. It's not as though it was 0-1, 1-1, 1-2 and so on. My respect to the whole side for fighting for the whole game. That shows enormous spirit and it's the same thing that got us the goal on Boxing Day.

Best comeback ever in my mind was when we beat Reading 2-1 at Reading in the Coppell season. It was 1-0 down, i think Jason Price scored the winner and Cureton got booked for diving when all of the 4,500 Bees thought it was a pen.

Brilliant.

In terms of 3 goals? Not in my time.....

That was 82/3. 4-1 down with about half an hour to go and down to ten men with our leading scorer Francis Joseph having been sent off. Today was the best comeback I've actually witnessed but the Doncaster game must have been our best ever - or at least post war.

one of my fav ever bees matches. but today was better imo because we were dead and buried at half time. if it was a boxing match it would have been stopped, if we were an animal the vet would have put us down. at reading we always had a chance, today noone would have given us a hope in hell. incredible scenes :bounce:

Great BFC Comebacks

I said at halftime we would win 4-3, nobody believed me....
And yes Nana I was pleased that Charlie reacted in the correct manner when he scored, didn't approve of the chanting but tha applause was fitting to a good servant

Best away win ever for me , when we scored the winner I can still remember how the away end just went mental :bound:

The best ever and I'm glad to say i was in attendance that day.

The 3-3 at home against Sheffield Wednesday in 2005 was pretty special from 3-1 down, but can't think of any recoveries from 3-0 down!

Me too. I would of loved to of seen it from a Reading end.

Great BFC Comebacks

Wonderful memories...

Well, you have to be getting on a bit to recall these matches, but both of them gave me a very similar feeling to today;
3-0 down to a strong Arsenal side in the London Challenge Cup, and we came back to draw 3-3, helped by two late goals from Johnny Rainford
3-1 down to Sunderland , in The League Cup and we came back to win 4-3. Big Jim Towers among the Bees scorers.
Both games at Griffin Park, under floodlights, and in the early 1960's.
Wonderful memories....:sorted:

Well the thing is they didn't fight the whole game. they only really started fighting after Mk decided after 10 mins of the 2nd half that they figured 3 goals was enough. Then we started fighting. Scored a goal 5 mins later, then the lino gave the pen and then it seemed the 3rd was just a matter of time. Another 5 mins we would've won it. great fighback indeed, but to go 3 down in the first plce was utterly dire. But yeah, 50 yrs a bee and I've never seen a comeback from 3 goals before.

Great BFC Comebacks

Good stuff GEOFFBEE, so it would seem about 50 years since this achievement was equalled!

Great BFC Comebacks

Some great come backs were against Blackpool at home, 2-0 down on a beach of a pitch, won 3-2 in the 70s. Another in the 90s, won 4-3 at home against Bradford after equalising 3 times, Forster got the winner I think

Great BFC Comebacks

Blackpool at home 78/79. 2-0 down won 3-2

As far as I can recall , yes, Sir!
A great way to finish off the year.
And a Very Happy New Year to all Bees supporters!:sorted:

Great BFC Comebacks

Sad news GEOFFBEE. It looks like that match wasn't a competitive fixture. I can not find any AFC v BFC matches after 1947

So it looks as if we still don't have a confirmed, previous comeback from 3-0 down.

Great BFC Comebacks

I can remember winning 4-2 away at Wrexham after being 2 nil down ( I think it was was the same season we beat them 9.0. at GP ?)

I also remember the Manchester City League Cup game at GP, which we won 4-3, from 3-1 down

Cannot remember any occasion during my 50+ years when we've come back from 3 down, home or away.

Do you mean the Blackburn league cup game? Another fixture from 82/3.

The best ever and I'm glad to say i was in attendance that day.

I was there with my then sister's boyfriend, traffic meant we arrived just before HT and wished we hadn't bothered, well he did as I was 13 and just loving a seemingly far away "away" game.
Today was good but that one seemed like the world and his wife were against us.

Blackburn 4-3 was in 88/89. I still have the video

Great BFC Comebacks

Blackpool at home 78/79. 2-0 down won 3-2

One of my favourite BFC games. Jim McNichol scored twice and turned the game, and the season, around.

Never seen anything like today in all my years.

I was at that game. We took the lead after about two mins but were out of it at 4-1 down and Joseph off forviolent conduct. I remember the Snodin brothers playing for Donny. I think Mahoney got our first. There were great scenes when we equalised. Today was different as they were so on top after 45 where up in Yorkshie we were the better team even at 1-4!!!

Great BFC Comebacks

We were 2 nil down at home v Swansea and won 3-2. I think Millen scored that day. About 1991 or 2?

Great BFC Comebacks

3-1up against Gillingham in the FA Cup with 11 minutes left.................
Ooops have I got the wrong end of the stick.........

(Still have nightmares about this one............)

Great BFC Comebacks

Northampton at home on a Sunday morning, 2-0 to a 3-2 win.
Torquay the same......????

That was the first ever game I went to, aged 7. Thought football would always be that exciting !

Well I thought I meant Manchester City, but response 16 above suggeast that it was Sunderland - so I'm probably wrong (the old memory playing tricks),

To the contrary to this, does anyone remember any competitive game where we have been 3 goals up and yet failed to win ?

I think it was Blissett, Holdsworth and Ratcliffe who scored with the flying postman John Williams and Andy Legg for them.

there previous two home games were a 7-5 win over Reading and a 3-6 reverse agin Wigan. That day was mental and I think we could have won it at the death.

Great BFC Comebacks

I remember the Swansea 0-2 to 3-2 comeback.brilliant.
I think that crazy 4-3 v Blackburn at gp was a league cup second leg where we were 4-1 down (or maybe just 3-1) from the first leg anyway. I think bobbooker got an own goal off his back & John smeulders saved a penalty.
Didn't we lose twice in a month from 2-0 lead-in our year inthe championship? (at Barnsley? & tranmere?).
Great info from geoffbee.
Is WEB banned from this website now then??

Great BFC Comebacks

Blackpool at home 78/79. 2-0 down won 3-2

Jim mcnichol and steve phillips scored the goals. I remember phillips curling in an absolute beauty from just inside the left side of the area, just crept in the bottom right hand corner.

Didn't we come from 5.2 down to draw 5.5 with someone in the 80's as well as that Doncaster game?

was there.....a truely remarkable comeback from '82 with sir bob of the booker in his prime.....the scenes on the 2p(!!!) brentford buses going back to the station was immense.....we had loads there too ;)

Great BFC Comebacks

also was at scunnie on new years day 84 when we were 3-1 down, came back to take the lead at 4-3 but conceded late equaliser to make it 4-4.....fantastic game and also great support there that day too.......funny moment after at the station when the local 'chaps' came back to the station for a 'dicussion' only to be sent packing from there sharpish with billy the bee's ghetto blaster blasting out 'daydream believer' by the monkees in the background......ok, you probably had to be there ;) lollol
