Scruff, have absolutely no idea what makes a good England manager, have not seen one for some time!!

Agree Roy might have problems if some if the senior pros think that Harry would have been better, however as they have successfully under performed for a few years probably this is the last saloon for them so they may have to bite the bullet!! In reality we do not have enough technically capable players so a team set up to give little away may pay dividends

Reckon it's a poisoned chalice for him, the media wanted their darling so unless he sets off like a train the knives will be out!!

Roy's teams have always tried to get it down and play.

Woy's success at Fulham was a lot down to intense defensive drilling. The really worked hard in training at defending and at getting the ball back when they lost it. The players themselves attested to that. The problem is that is all very well at a modest club like Fulham, but at the bigger clubs it's about flair, which also means accommodating some prima donnas.
I'm not sure the England elite will go along with the Hodgson game plan to the degree necessary.

Equally I am not sure we have any "elite" and quite frankly they have proved in previous seasons that they are not nearly as good as they think, perhaps if they were to follow a game plan it might pay some dividends for them

Perhaps Roy can pick the players that best suit the way he wants to play and the players that don't buy into it can be unselected, he doesn't owe any of them anything.

Totally agree however if he does not select the so called stars loved by the press then he will get hammered, not an easy task but hope he looks to the future as to many have failed to warrant continued selection. Mind you bet it's the usual faces in the friendlies coming up!

Okay, but he can't not pick Rooney, now can he?
I'd love to see us go with more youth, ditch the Terry's and Ferdinands, but can you really ignore Ashley Cole, Aaron Lennon?
For any international manager, a couple of bad results and the press will howl about the players that were omitted from the squad.

This from the Daily Mirror (admittedly they are s*** stirring):

Terrible timing for Redknapp and Spurs. New SPurs mamnager will need to be appointed fast and even if they bag him this week it makes thier close season chaotic. All the prestige/ challenge jobs in the Prem have been filled including Chelsea and Liverpool. Harry I guess won't get a new job till the first significant early season sacking and then he's playing catch up.

Can't see him being picked up by any big club now to be honest, you can become yesterday's man very quickly, and nobody in the FL could afford him.

All these Premiership teams are basically big businesses now, can you see them appointing to such a key role in their "business" someone who admits he writes like a 3 year old??

It could be West Brom, what with Steve Clarke only being appointed "head coach". That fits in more with the Director Of Football system. Don't know how many millions they've got stashed in a Swiss bank account though.

Just heard 'Arry on the radio saying how he always likes to leave a club in a better state than when he arrived. He might have done that with Spurs, but in the past I thought his gift was usually for jumping ship when he realised things were on the verge of going t*ts up.

What Harry does is bring in very good [ expensive players] who then do well largely as a result of their ability and less to do with any tactical genius from Harry. Maybe he wanted more cash to bring in more players and Spurs have realised there's a financial storm brewing for the club? Harry left a heavy financial legacy at Portsmouth and Southampton and we know what happened to them. I'm delighted he didn't get the England job as the opposition have players as good as anything at his disposal and tactics become critical. Harry can't do tactics and he would never have been capable of getting an organised performance like Hodgson did vs France.Harry will be looking for a Chairman with a very big cheque book but he might find there isn't one there.

30 years in management 1 FA cup which nearly killed Pompey every club he has left has had financial problems afterwards Bournemouth , west Ham , Portsmouth , Southampton & Portsmouth again .. Maybe Levy could see through his media mates and did not want to let him spend any more cash on expensive ageing players , he must of also been sick and tired of seeing him on sky sports news spouting off .. Never an England manager.. However if we lose in the euros watch his newspaper mates hammer Roy

Benitez is a spent force, much like Ranieri. His career is winding down. Confusing team selections.
Moyes is live. He's ready to step up to a club with some dough. I don't know where you get the idea he's a bottle job. Won't be many on Merseyside who would agree with that assessment.

O'Neil left Villa because he didn't believe the club would back him in the market or spend the necessary cash. The situation at Spurs is different. Levy has backed Redknapp and they've spent a fair bit of money on players and wages.

Look up what the football agent Peter Harrison has to say about arry and fat Sam at west ham.. You can see why the premier league clubs want young guys to just coach with a football director doing transfers...crouch signed 3 times by Redknapp ? jussi signed once again by fat Sam at west ham? The look who the agents are..

To be fair to Big Sam, Jussi is a class keeper and better, IMO, than Bogdan. Crouchy isn't a bad player either.

Had a new bath and shower fitted at my flat a few weeks ago and the bathroom store gave me the number of a company to fit it.The bloke came round and whilst fitting it we soon got talking about football.His cousin was a well known player that played for Portsmouth and is now plying his trade in the lower leagues.I mentioned Redknapp and him not getting the England job and he was telling me a number of things he did at Portsmouth and West Ham that quite frankly revolted me.The bloke is only out for himself and is a proper nasty piece of work.

It will all come out in the end though,mark my words.

Yes but some clubs and fans dont know when they are well off. Villa fans were moaning at Oneil saying that they wanted Villa to finish higher then they were already doing under Oneil then he goes and Villa struggle ever since. Lets hope spurs dont regret letting a manager go who lead them to finish 4th in the league for the past two seasons.
