He has no experience at all and knows this level even less than Butcher. Why shoul danyone think he would be any better than another former passionate ex-England player. The next manager has to come from eitehr an experienced lower league background like Little & Jackson were and both hav estarted to get better results at Wrexham & Lincoln already. Or another good conference level manager like MA was. Daish & Harvey are 2 managers who have worked wonders on limited budgets at that level and are probably 2 who should be in the frame next time around.

I met Ian Wright, at the petrol station near where I work the other day.

Seemed like a nice bloke, if slightly excitable.

Neat hat he was sporting too.....He filled up his 4x4 with £35 worth of unleaded, and brought a mini pack of pringles.....His mobile phone was on, all the time

We need someone with experience who can command respect and motivate a set of players that would almost certainly perform under a manager who would shove a rocket up their collective arse.
Wrighty's a good bloke, a bit too friendly and I've already lost huge respect for one England legend this season, two in one season might push me over the edge.
Plus as mentioned he's more of a SE London lad.

Why not simply employ the good No.2 as the No.1.
Having listened to Ian Wright reguarly in Talksport, I actually don't think he has much of an in depth knowledge of the game at all. Would be very surpised if he made it as a manager anywhere.

He has Ray Mathias along side him. If Ian wright could get someone like that with him then you might have a chance.
Although I do suspect that Ince will still have more knowledge of the game and tactically more cute than Wright. Who from radio and tv comments seems passionate, but clueless.

If we go down another ex-player route but no experience then I would rather see someone like Martin Keown given a go. He comes across as deep thinking, passionate coach and is doing a good job with Arsenal Youth.

Ian Wright, friend of the common man maybe, quite media savvy and has played to his strengths but qualified in any way to take on the momentous job of keeping bees in division 4 no way.

The likes of most of us are as well qualified, I'll lay odds "having the ear of Arsene" means they acknowledge each other, and no more.

A couple were also at Bournemouth last season. However Keown would more likely have the better connection with Wenger and knowledge of the Arsenal Youth set up.

Not really lower league though were they.
They loaned players on the fringes of Arsenal 1st team squad a couple of which are still there permannently.
Bournemouth had a couple of 17 & 18 years olds with them from Arsenal last season.

Totally agree. If we get Ian Wright or some other dabbler who just wants to be close to the BBC studios I will cancel by BU sub - so there

We should be looking at the managers of Histon, Salisbury, Forest Green, Ebbsfleet, Exeter and the like (remember where Martin Allen came from?) - or any old grizzler that has been there and kept teams in Div4. At the moment I would take someone like John Beck whose teams rarely even attempted to keep the ball on the ground but were generally successful in the lower leagues.

This post must be a joke right? Anyone encouraging this obviously hasn't a clue about our club and what's needed. We need a MANAGER, not an EX PLAYER with a big gob. This is just encouraging failure, it's desperate, like asking any old fool to manage. Our club is not an excuse for the next would be manager to jump on board and have a play around. Hate this attitude. We need 1) A manager, 2) who has experience of working on a tiny budget with average players and getting the very best out of them and 3) someone who has a reputation for being a motivator.
I lost faith in MA after his tactical naeivity cost us automatic promotion and he was applying for other jobs whilst still our manager, but surely someone like him has to be the answer-it would give the club a real lift. Please no more shouts for ex players who have never managed.
