Absolutely. I distinctly remember standing on the terrace at Macclesfield in November 2007 (League Two; lost 1-0; attendance 1,378, probably my low point as a Bee) thinking “Next year, Rodney, it’ll all be different… we’ll have the Brazil #9 up front!” 😁
I was there, with @RodBee, but I don't remember you saying that to him :D

I was there for that as a Manchester based bee at the time, remember Scotty chatting to The Hesters during the warm up, my first hearing of Barcelona of the lower leagues chant, and possibly the game that Lewis Emmanuel or someone claimed to have got lost on the way to the match

From a rather anodyne piece, with infuriating last question, on the BBC Sport website:

Igor Thiago
Could Brentford striker Igor Thiago play himself into Brazil's World Cup squad?

The 24-year-old has never won a cap at any age level, or even been in a senior squad, but he has 11 Premier League goals - only behind Erling Haaland.

If he ends up hitting 20, could Carlo Ancelotti ignore him? And could the Bees keep him?

Wi$$a also listed.

I don’t mean to be disparaging, but his availability thus far would suggest otherwise.

It’s difficult, yes Kev’s hat trick shows he can provide the same threat in place of Igor, but an attach without Igor is greatly weakened
I think IT was on hand to score 2 of Kev’s goals if he’d missed the crosses..

Thiago was awful today - I hope whatever knock he has that Andrew’s alluded to is impacting his game because not only did he lose the ball with every touch, he prevented Lewis Potter from scoring a tap in.
Overreaction. He was up against 2 world class CBs, wasn’t great but by no means awful

Igor Thiago

Wasn't at his best but he didnt have a bad game.
It also shows why having a recognised cf to come off the bench is required.
Both teams nullified each other. They know how to play against each other as they play the same way.

Igor Thiago

Poor today didn't hold the ball up enough and gave it away loads. Really need another striker on the bench

Murray Jones was awful mate. Get some perspective.

Knackered by the end.

Shame we are without Outtarra atm as between he and Schade we could cope with giving him some form of rest a bit easier.

Wonder if we will be in for a young understudy in January. Like we had with Forss and latterly Maupay for Toney

I really wish he could be a little bit nastier when coming up against the likes of Romero.
Trouble is, he tends to get penalised when he is.
Seems like refs think: "He's a big lump. Should be able to take the rough stuff. But needs to be reined in when he didhes it out".

Yep, know what you mean. It just doesn’t seem to be in his nature to dish out the rough stuff either which if you do then try to force, it stands out more. Haaland is superb at it. It’s been painful watching Romero act like the playground bully (seemingly with complete impunity) in the two games - have been willing Thiago to find his inner Duncan Ferguson. There have been times in the heat of the moment where I would have accepted a red card and ban in exchange for a flying elbow or headbutt.

Igor Thiago

I thought he had a reasonable game.
Not his absolute best game but fairly bonkers to be saying he was rubbish imo.
Romero and Van De Ven are top class defenders and the latter is the fastest centre-back on the planet.
This means our running in behind is going to be more difficult against spurs than almost any team.
To cause spurs more problems it was likely going to have to be balls into the box, set pieces (we've been doing poorly at, compared to the past, for quite a while), or contributions from attacking midfield (which was unlikely without Dams/Jensen - or the midfielders we did have making lots of attacking runs - something they rarely do - and what we really lack).

He actually clobbered two defenders last night.
I think Romero both times.
1 first half in the corner.
1 second hand in the middle.

Other than that, just missing some Brazilian magic last night.

He'll come good again this weekend I'm 💯 certain.

Igor Thiago

He misses Ouattara, KLP doesn't offer the same pace and physicality to help him upfront. He has to do lots alone right now and is getting closely watched by two CB's usually.

Igor Thiago

Against Bournemouth he bullied weak centre backs and looked top class.
Against Spurs he was well marked by Van der Ven who was outstanding.
Unlike golf, these players can only be as good as the opposition.
It's like saying a tennis player seeded at Wimbledon is rubbish if he loses to Alcaraz or Sinner.
IT is doing great - but he's not yet the very best.

Igor Thiago

He was visibly shattered, we don’t want to run him into the ground if not 100%.

Additional firepower needed in January, I think.
We have been lucky with injuries so far this year (balances out bad luck in previous years).

There's been the hint that Thiago is not 100% fit. And if one of our first choice front 3 get injured, we have big problems. KA is reluctant to give minutes to the young forwards (Donovan and Nunes), even from the bench. KLP can slot in, but that is a stop gap solution in my eyes.

For me, it's about how far up the table BFC are ambitious to finish. If we did have an injury, we are not going down, but that would put an end to hopes of a top 8 finish. I thought Nelson could be a solution, but we've not had our money's worth so far

Igor can't keep playing all these minutes.

Yep - even with a couple of rests here and there, he’s still not looking 100% match fit.

Sure, we’ve got another hidden gem to find somewhere up our sleeves.

Hugging Beto, wanting to scrap Tarkowski, throwing the hat trick ball to the bench.

CULT HERO😍
I said before that he’ll be the greatest BFC forward of all time. I see no reason to change that.

Igor Thiago

We need to work out the price tag for the summer, Isak was 130 mil with 20 goals right.

Incredible performance once again ! Outside that big Norwegian he is the best striker in this league

Igor Thiago

Outstanding today, looked so controlled and confident with his finishes. Loved the antics as well! 💪

I just said to my boy - "We are going to have Brazils number 9 at the World Cup, imagine that".
I feels absurd to even think it, but I am buying a chocolate hat in case this happens! 🦏🍷
