In full, not just selective and bear in mind these are prognosis for non-athletes.

  • Reactive arthritis
Usually clears up within a few months, but it can take up to a year for a full recovery. Treatment focuses on clearing the infection and relieving symptoms.

  • Septic arthritis
Treatment usually involves a hospital stay of about two weeks, with antibiotics given intravenously and then orally for several weeks after discharge. It can take longer to heal if the infection damages the joint or surrounding soft tissues.

  • Bacterial joint inflammation
Treatment involves antibiotics, which can take 2 to 6 weeks. Other treatments include draining fluid from the joint, anti-inflammatory medications, and resting and elevating the joint.

  • Viral arthritis
Most people feel better within a few weeks. Treatment involves nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and antiviral medications.

  • Joint replacement infection
Recovery can take up to 9 to 12 months, and in some cases, you may need to take antibiotics for the rest of your life. Treatment involves placing an antibiotic spacer in the joint during the first stage of treatment.

Hi all,

I want to apologize for some crap editing over at ASFB Towers. We had heard a rumour from somewhere that there was something more seriously wrong with IT, and discussed that possibility at some length. Later, recognizing that we had no substantiation for the rumour we decided it should be cut out...and Premier's comment was missed when editing. It isn't Premier's fault that he referenced something that was not from him, as he was reacting to an earlier conversation.

Blame the moles in the editing suite, who will all be hearing from their line manager.

We weren't wrong, but as we had no credible way to substantiate the rumour it shouldn't have crept in. Apologies.

Full quotes on Igor Thiago:

“Thiago. He got a joint infection. Very unlucky. So I don't know how that happened, but that happened unfortunately. So yeah, we will take care of that and I don't know how long that will take. It was from the knee.”

“Igor is very, very unlucky. I think the risk of getting a joint infection is very, very small. But apparently it's the opposite when you're a Brentford player. Instead of 2% chance, there's 98% chance.”

It’s so tedious, every season we are going one week to the next waiting for players to return as it turns into months

Yes we will survive, but Christ almighty,

FFS - when it’s noted they don’t know how long he will be out for, it’s Hickey territory for me. Hope I am wrong.

Can now understand in part why Bryan didn’t start last night.

Igor Thiago

The reason for the "no time frame" is surely, as with any infection, you can't predict how it will respond to medication.

Igor Thiago

Are we really going to panic, complain, and ridicule the club every time they don't specify exactly to the correct day how long an injury recovery will take?

Looks like it.

Yes, and also when they don't play the starting XI that I want them to.

you would like to think if it was just a course of antibiotics they would say something like, hopefully not too long, but we can’t be too sure now. When they say we don’t know and won’t give anything else it can get very frustrating.

It’s hard for a fan to just sit back and chill out when they have 3-4 crucial players injured who could be out for 1 week or a year. If we knew it was a long one we would buckle down and get behind the rest of the team rather then the constant hope someone might be be back in a few weeks, I would rather not have that hope if it doesn’t exist.

If we ignore the three long term absentees, our injury record this season is no worse than anyone else.
But why would we do this?
Granted they're not "new" injuries, but they still have a massive impact on the strength of the squad we've got available....every week....

Igor Thiago

The frustration from my side with all the injuries has nothing to do with panic or a fear that we'll suddenly plummet towards a relegation fight (though of course this basically did happen in seasons 21/22 and 23/24!). It is simply that I look forward to watching our best players perform every week and it's sh*t that they keep getting injured all the bloody time! I'm sure others feel the same.

That's what happens. Have a look at every premier league player and count how many play 90 minutes every single game of their career

Getting injured is part and parcel of life when you are a highly-tuned athlete expected to perform at the top of your abilities every time. This isn't some cloggers running around a League Two pitch and pumping balls into channels anymore.

The Pope is a Cathlic. Bear sh*t in the woods. Athletes get injured.

Feel like these past couple of years will be a bit 'what if' - imagine if we had Thiago, Hickey, henry, Dasilva all fit and playing each week. I know life and football doesnt work like that but christ we'd be a bloody good team (even better than we already are!)

Anyway feel sorry for the guy, but Bryan and Yoanne are doing ok.

Dead right. It's a bit like comparing a formula 1 car with an Astra!

Doctor google says:

Nah! in my day RICE ..it cured all , Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation ...follow that, and no probs v Florist :hat:

Igor Thiago

That's not an adequate response. We could well be looking at grave medical oversight here.
I doubt someone calling himself banana on a fan site is going to be able to give you much more.

But why would we do this?

Especially given one of those long term injuries has been supposedly just a “few weeks away” since August

Igor Thiago

That is incredibly unlucky
Poor guy
If there’s no cut to the knee then the infection has got there through a different source. Considering how infrequent infections cause knee issues, Thiago can’t seem to catch a break (excuse the term)

This is a club that used data before anyone. That understood the limitations of an academy before anyone. That gets succession planning better than anyone. That buys before it sells better than anyone. That uses it's (relatively) scant resources better than anyone. And that is slowly becoming a member of the Premier League establishment.
And yet the same owners are prepared to leave the medical side to a bunch of ignorant cretins who have no idea how to keep players safe and well? Seems a little far fetched to me. I fear we are just a little unlucky. But luckier to be able to call upon a front two or three from a combination of Bryan, Wissa, Schade, Potter, Carvalho and Damsgaard (with a £30m beast of a signing to re-join in due course).
