Don't forget that Toney received pelters for failing to fill a Watkins-sized hole in September 2020.Joking aside, there will be a LOT of pressure on this lad to hit the ground running, firstly because he is filling an Ivan shaped hole and secondly because of the eye-watering cost.
So far, the club hasn't performed well at making our most expensive PL purchases increase in value.
Collins, Ajer, Onyeka, KLP and Damsgaard have all been disappointing overall. Wissa has not kicked on. Hickey has bucked the trend and Flekken now turning the corner. 6/8 not been good enough.
People will expect big things and rightly so for that money, irrespective of his age. It's not his fault, as he didn't put that price tag there, but there will be pressure. I'm sure there will be more expensive purchases in the summer, but our first team recruitment needs to be a step up from the last 3 years, imo.
Not in a clever way. The bloke behind me in the West Stand who shouted " f*king hell Toney" everytime Ivan lost a challenge will be foaming at the mouth with Thiago. So what I'm hearing is he is combative?![]()
I agree with what you say but you do realise we all pay money to watch the bees for our entire life right? True supporters should be able to question certain decisions and have valid opinions on matters like this if they feel that way. Some Brentford fans are weird. Genuine question, why does anyone care how much money we've paid for a player? I would understand if we were somehow being asked to fund the purchase, but this is MB and his management team doing what they've done many many times before very successfully. If they announced it was an £80 million purchase I wouldn't question it as it's not my money and they know better than me what they're doing.
How about we are just happy with the fact that we've just bought a player that is clearly very good, without anyone knowing about it, meaning every other Premier League management team are now looking at this transfer and thinking "f***, have we missed another diamond of a player that Brentford will now turn into a world beater?"
Not very long ago we were a league 2 team. We're now punching above our weight in the Premier League, are one of the best managed clubs in the world from a financial point of view, and pretty much every signing we make is done without stress and to ensure that at no point does the selling club have a gun to our heads due to the fact that we've just sold a couple of players and have 100 million quid knocking around.
I'm in awe of our management team and how they conduct their business. We are the envy of a lot of other clubs fans, but for some reason there are Bees fans that still find a reason to complain or question what's happening. It's not your job to do that. You're a supporter, so support the club, STFU about stuff you know nothing about and enjoy another brilliant season in the best league in the world.
The thought of a Brazilian always gets my heart racing!Completely agree with the sentiment of the post and just enjoying it all, but re: the fee...
It wasn't long ago we witnessed Efan Ekoku as an (alleged!) deadline day signing, Neil Shipperley, Steve Claridge, or being over the moon with £50,000 from the Coca-Cola competition.
As a result, signing 30+ million pounds Brazilian strikers will always get some hearts racing! ?
So the club says they’re paying x amount for a new player. You disagree with his valuation. What is your valid opinion over those of Matthew Benham and his management team? Unless you’re a scout for another club, or have experience playing at the highest level, and even then I’d question why your opinion is more valid than our management team, what possible view could you hold that differs from theirs that’s valid? You’re uncomfortable with how much is being spent? So what, it’s not your money. You don’t think x player will be good enough? So what, they think otherwise.I agree with what you say but you do realise we all pay money to watch the bees for our entire life right? Blimey! I disagree with buckets of club decisions. S'pose, I'm wrong and new Brentford. So the club says they’re paying x amount for a new player. You disagree with his valuation. Sorry mate, but I don’t think anyone who disagrees with MB and his team over player acquisitions have a valid opinion. Irrespective of how long you’ve supported the club, and by the way if you’re a long term supporter then you should know better! If you’re new Brentford I get why you might have questions, but you’re still wrong to ask them!
If you disagree about player acquisitions then yes, either, or both.Blimey! I disagree with buckets of club decisions. S'pose, I'm wrong and new Brentford.
I'd rather wear the insult, than be censured/censoredIf you disagree about player acquisitions then yes, either, or both.
Calm down mate!If you disagree about player acquisitions then yes, either, or both.
Good for you. Great support!I'd rather wear the insult, than be censured/censored
I'm neither, a sheep or a gushing fan boy (well not all the time). The 'thought police' are rarely pleased with my demeanorGood for you. Great support!
But, specifically, what it the basis of your player valuations?Blimey! I disagree with buckets of club decisions. S'pose, I'm wrong and new Brentford.
I don’t really get why Janelt is forever held up as a great player, for the price. He’s definitely valuable to us, and I’m thinking he probably regards the comparison as irritating, not to say patronising. But, specifically, what it the basis of your player valuations?
I think he probably doesn’t care at all. PG has said his club didn’t really get why we were keen and he’s said he’d have come for less than we offered to pay him. He’s also very competitive and confident and is unlikely to take offence at us saying he’s much better than other players or that he’s worth a lot more than we paid.I don’t really get why Janelt is forever held up as a great player, for the price. I once took 25 English school kids round that stadium. And got them to pay for it. Just so me and my colleague could see it. Also dragged them round the Decathlon across the road as one of the teachers wanted to buy a pop-up tent. Can't believe I once got away with taking my Mrs (then girlfriend) to the Stade de France during a cliché romantic trip for two to Paris. There wasn't even a game on, I just wanted to see inside the stadium! ?
Thiago will be fab by the way, on topic post ?
Blimey! It's has to be a combination of: what the going rate is, how good they are (as I've witnessed), how good they are ( as others have witnessed), how they fit the shape of the squad, whether I like their face/demeanor. Do they like dubstep. There are many factors involved in evaluating anything: subconscious/conscious pattern recognition. And WE ALL bring something different to the table. But, specifically, what it the basis of your player valuations?

Im speaking for other supporters that get shot down on here for having an opinion. I have no problems at all with the transfer. So the club says they’re paying x amount for a new player. is this a joke or not? I cant tell?Deleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. Don’t think he wants to join now ?
Not a joke?is this a joke or not? I cant tell?
but its been confirmed though so it cant fall through right? Not a joke?
That’s genuinely concerning. Very odd thing to do.Deleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. Don’t think he wants to join now ?
I don't understand what this means. Can you expand please?Deleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. Don’t think he wants to join now ?
That’s a very odd thing to do. Does he still join us if we go down? We are going to look a bit silly with all those articles about what a ‘handful’ he’ll be for Premier League defenders if we do end up relegatedDeleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. He did it after his red card for Brugge last week, not last night. Probably just wants full focus on the rest of the season with no distractions about next season.Deleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. Don’t think he wants to join now ?
Perhaps we’ll do a Clive Allen and sell him in pre season so he can still play Premier League football!!That’s a very odd thing to do. Does he still join us if we go down? Especially after picking up a silly red card! ?He probably thought it was best to remove the “signing for Brentford” pic out of respect to Bruges fans. Can you imagine the sh*t Ivan would get if he posted a pic of himself holding up an Arsenal shirt before he actually left? ?
apparently he was getting a lot of stick from the fans 'He doesnt want to play for us anymore' and comments like that.... think its all for respect.Especially after picking up a silly red card! ?
When you say 'them', do you mean Brentford?Deleted instagram post about signing for club and unfollowed them to on instagram. Don’t think he wants to join now ?
Uh oh ?Playing tonight.
Uh oh ?
