Igor Thiago

Igor Thiago

they attack with pace , you can see why he isn’t playing
How many times did you watch him last season?
He is actually deceptively quick.
As is mentioned a number of times in this thread.

Igor Thiago

Thing is, Brazil have genuinely picked up with change of shape since taking him off and have had no reason to change it to include him.
And have also played crap teams upto today which has papered over the cracks in their team

Igor Thiago

He played at the World Cup and hadn’t got injured

Igor Thiago

Could well still feature tonight....

Igor Thiago

Yep.
F**k those Brazil fans that slaughtered him after their first game.
Got what they deserved.
When they play Hendrick over him and then that tw*t Neymar then that tells me Anchelotti did not fancy him or regretted taking him.
Brazil got what they deserved, but Thiago deserved a lot better than he was

Igor Thiago

Quite amusing seeing the kid Endrick who they all wanted ahead of Igor, totally fluff his lines when he had his chance. Never looked like scoring when he went through whereas you know Igor would have shown the composure. Still, that defeat won't have done IT any harm whatsoever as they had every striker out there except him and still never looked like scoring apart from a dodgy penalty at the end. And as for that, Neymar, what a prized ****. Even when you're put the penalty away, you're still losing 2-1 with seconds to play and you're given it the big one to the keeper. No team man there

I think Ancelloti does fancy him a bit, hence why he started him in the first game. IT had a tough chance but one you'd maybe expect a top striker to bury. He didn't take it and CA maybe bowed to pressure. They've scraped through since then without looking impressive but they took chances when needed so there was no need to bring IT back That is, up until tonight. IF CA stays on, I reckon IT will pick up more caps

No he didn't. He played absolutely awful first game. He's been very very poor last 10 or so games of the seasons. They have better striking options. He was very lucky to get a start at the beginning but just had yet another bad day at the office. Look at the facts. No emotion.

Very very poor 😂

Interesting (translated) quote from Ancelotti

Ancelotti explains why Vinicius didn’t take Brazil's penalty: "We studied a whole year of penalty-taking among our players and adversaries. Our best one was Neymar, then Igor Thiago, and Raphinha. Bruno Guimarães and Martinelli were next on the line."

Based on this I do wonder if we might have seen Thiago come on as the sixth sub for Brazil if they managed to scrape through to extra time. I suppose it's a learning experience for him either way and I would absolutely love it if he's leading their line out in four years time.

So Thiago was judged on one game ?

Very clever.

Bullshit, apart from the chance he missed against Morocco he did nothing wrong, it’s their ‘team’ not him and the way they fanboy over their individuals.
Not a single one of their players could press which meant Norway had the run of the park, Ajer played in his slippers when Neymar came on, wouldn’t have been able to do that with Igor.

Igor Thiago

He was hardly number 1 pick did well to start one game and get minutes
They were desperate for a goal last night and Ancelotti put a 19 year old kid,who is not a number 9,and a 34 year old has been on in front of him.
That told me he doesnt rate him and probably regrets taking him.
So he didnt have a good game vs Morocco and afaik not many of the Brazil side did,but it seems he became the scapegoat of the side and his country.
He did well to get one game ?
Why ?
Because he has had a cracking season and thats how he should be judged.
Not on one game for a bang average team running on reputation alone.

So we are agreed then 😁

Thiago was one of the players that looked interested in Brazils first game.
The only "poor" thing he did was miss the chance, absolutely nothing "very very poor" about his performance that day, but he was of course made the scapegoat because obviously nobody could see anything wrong with Guimaraes, Raphinha et al performances....

Igor Thiago

Seriously ?

I doubt he'll be here when the new season starts. But let's see. If he is, hope he does well.
Or he carries on the form from last season.

It is clear to see you do not rate him, like him or support him.
I am pleased to admit that i do and so do quite a few others.

Igor Thiago

Igor was clearly made the scapegoat for their first game vs Morocco, but thankfully for him he was well out of the blast zone for their ignominious exit to Norway.

Needs to keep doing what he's doing with us, bang in another 20+ goals and show the Brazil team that it's a problem with them, not him.

Yeah, you mean the Morocco that have a real chance to get to their second WC semi final in a row, yet people are creaming themselves over Cunhas goals against the might of *checks notes* Haiti and Scotland

This reads like a WC reaching the SF at a tennis grand slam takedown.

Well exactly. Their fans have an inflated view of where they should be, and had the fixtures been shuffled perhaps a different narrative would have formed.

Igor Thiago

Suggestion in today 's Evening Standard that Manure are discussing our boy. ( But so are a dozen other elite teams I imagine!)

Igor Thiago

Our 'mate' Tim Vickery on TalkSport today "sticking up for" IT's World Cup campaign.
Like many of us, saying Igor was picked to start in the wrong game, and basically that he wasn't given a realistic chance to succeed by Ancelotti's selections/tactics.
Starting to warm to Vickery a bit now.....

Sorry, I thought this thread was for the real IT crowd.

Igor Thiago

Had a tough time of it this summer and he's probably feeling a bit down but once we sing his song to him,he'll be as good as gold and get back to loving life with us.
Seems the sort of bloke who'll be determined to prove any doubters wrong.

Igor Thiago

Thought he looked leaner and fitter if that’s possible ! Optical illusion perhaps but all that training and not playing in the WC seems to have shed a pound or two . He also looks like he was playing with a bit of anger and a point to prove (he clearly doesn’t have anything to prove to us) but perhaps the disappointing WC experience will be to our benefit !

I was a bit concerned when he miscontrolled right in from of goal in the first minute. It looked very much like the clumsy Thiago we saw in a few matches towards the end of last season. But he grew into the game, led the line extremely well and his touch visibly improved. His confidence must have taken a knock after the way he was treated in the WC so it was important that he got the goal to settle him down. All things considered it was a good run out in the end.
