?In the short term (i.e vs Cyprus) we will be without Given,Reid and Doyle.Doyle might be back for the game with the Czech's though.Marvellous.
Longer term I think we have major problems with the spine of the team.Dunne is a good enough centre back but does not have a reliable centre back partner.Andy O'Brien is simply not international standard,Breen has had his day and Staunton deems Paddy McCarthy at Leicester "not ready" for this level. In central midfield we continue to persist with Kevin "oh look I had one great game vs France" Kilbane and Graham Kavanagh. They are not good enough IMHO.As for the others O'Shea is no more than a utility player,Carsley....well enough said about the crab.Steven Reid is a good player there but hasn't a great injury record whilst Stephen Ireland falls into the category of "talented but unproven" at this level.Up front Keane shoulders too much of the workload and suffers as a result.Doyle does indeed so signs of promise. As for the rest Morrison can't even make his club side's first X1 on a regular basis,Doherty.....the kindest thing I can say about him is that he's a utility player. In short he's not international class,Alan Lee needs regular football whilst the others.....oh yeah what others?
I haven't even started on Steve Staunton yet but let's just say that his appointment did not strike me with enthusiasm when it happened and I have my doubts whether he's up to the task.
We do not have a very good team on paper wheels. We have 1 world class player in Shay Given, who incidentally saved us the last time we played Cyprus, and 2 very good international players in Duff and Keane.
 there are some decidedly dodgy players in the squad these days, and that's cos there's pretty much no-one else. it's a worry but we're not as good as we used to be. a few years back we'd have had a chance of stealing this group (czechs are an aging team and germany are rubbish, you wait til the momentum of their lucky world cup runs out), but to be honest we might struggle to finish 5th

Andy O'Brien is simply not international standard.
Great news.
According to the Telegraph report, Tabb still plays for Brentford.
I felt at the time the Irish were too quick to force out Kerr who i didnt think was doing a bad job. In a group with France, Israel and Switzerland they only just missed the playoffs by a whisker. Should Ireland expect to always be better than these countries? I dont think so. They had no ideas for a replacement and now they have someone with no experience and no clue. If they had a quality replacement lined up then fair enough but they didnt.
the media are a joke, trying to hound Stan out already too![]()
Personally, I think the bloke is out of his depth.
I suspect if there was an obvious candidate available he would be in teh job on Thursday.

Don't get it?
Thought Tabby had a great chance of featuring tonight given R of I's deparate injury problems. Not even on the bench as he was on Saturday![]()
how do,
we're trying to work out where his best position is, where did he play for you guys mainly?
from the little we've seen of him (thanks to our an excuse for a manager) he looks a cracking player, and seems a nice lad too - which is rare in football
You're right he's a great lad, sorely missed. He can play anywhere but I think he is most effective playing in the hole behind the forwards and running at defenders.how do,

I wish he would get a start for us! possibly on Saturday, altho with our Mickeh's philosophy of give it to the centre back and lump it up to the big man upfront to lose, maybe he'd be wasted
can we have him back then![]()

Micky Adams???? you certainly can! I'll drive him down myself for you in the morning![]()
Although I'd have Mickey Adams as manager at this point in time if we can't get Tabb...please!......well i was thinking more along the lines of Jay Tabb lol

Thats exactly what hes used too with martin allen, and he was wasted,I wish he would get a start for us! possibly on Saturday, altho with our Mickeh's philosophy of give it to the centre back and lump it up to the big man upfront to lose, maybe he'd be wasted
I would say his best position is just behind the forwards, but is more than comfortable anywhere across the midfield. Quality quality player and geezer
although I am sure he is not stupid but its the smiley that fits.
