If he keeps this scoring record up do u think he could be snapped up by a bigger club again like DJ Campbell?

If he keeps this scoring record up for long enough he will be snapped up by a bigger club  because that would mean he is very good. It would also mean him finishing the season with over 30 goals.

Jo Kuffour

If that happens we will be back to square one with nobody really getting the goals in. Especially if Owusu is out for any longer.

:nono: Everytime we sell a player for good money, it's a small step forward.

Jo Kuffour

If he continues to keep his confidence he has gained Im sure he will get 20 goals this season

Jo Kuffour

Yea put him on the bench for a couple of weeks. :) till the transfer window is shut. IF we sold him how much do you think we could get him for? I think around 50 k?

Jo Kuffour

We can't sell Kuffour before January, unless he goes this week, and Owusu should be back by then.

But anyway if we get a decent offer for Kuffour and sell him then fantastic, a big profit in six months will help keep the club alive.
Look at the bigger picture.

Jo Kuffour

500k in january would do me

but where would we find the new callum willock to replace him? whats kevin rapely doing these days?

Jo Kuffour

But i would rather gain promotion then have to sell all our good players. And anyway we waste money on players like willock who scored 1 goal last season.

Take your point, but I'd be surprised if JK goes anywhere before the end of the season. And, frankly, that's assuming a) he keeps scoring and b) we don't nosedive towards the bottom of the table :(

Jo Kuffour

The way it works joeboyland, is that a player does well, we sell him and that attracts anoteher good player to the club, who does well and we sell him and so on until you're financially able to pay the players good money and not sell them.

Everyone outside of the top 4 clubs in the the country does it.

Jo Kuffour

But think of the TV rights and promotion money we could gain?

Could. I don't know how much of this site you read but I think you need to catch up with the financial state we're in and limit your ambitions a bit until our debts are paid off. Staying in League One is the limit fo our ambitions for the next few seasons.

Jo Kuffour

Oh ye i suppose so. he scored a 3 or 4 against Burton Albion in pre-season

Jo Kuffour

Well we seem to be doing quite well at the moment unbeaten, and i can safely say that at the end of the season we were all talking about relegation etc.

If I didn't have more sense, I would worry about the mental stability of some that post on here.

Leon Constantine has been scoring for fun and tops the table at the moment. Scouts are more likely to be watching him than Jo at the moment.

FFS, if Jo wasn't scoring goals, he would be slated and when he does, the doommongers have him sold and the whole world will end.

If the time comes and someone offers good money for him, then we will take it, we cannot afford not too. Hopefully Jo will carry on banging them in and increase his value.

Get a grip on reality or start a Jo Too ........... thread.:fishing:

kufour is a good player but has been in the league for several seasons and most clubs/scouts will have seen him already - dj was a new talent plucked from non-league by john griffin. it is not like for like.

every player at bfc - and every other small club - has his price but i wouldn't lose any sleep just yet! enjoy christmas first.

Jo Kuffour

Yes as long as we dont lose him before the august transfer window. He will bagging all the goals for us.

I believe Jo is a much younger player than Leon...so clubs are probably more likely to look at Jo...especially as Leon has been about abit and not always done so well!

4 goals in 3 games means he's barely on the radar. When you look at the likes of Eastwood, Parkin, Nugent, they've scored goals consistently over at least a couple of seasons. DJ was a one-off 'cos he was on the tele and Bruce panicked (imo).

Jo Kuffour

Kuffour has mad a promising start to his brentford career there's no doubt in that, but he still has a long way to go to becoming the finished article- IMHO there is no chance of him being sold before the august window closes.

Jo Kuffour

He's decent but nowhere near the level (yet) where he would be on the radar of any higher level teams.

To be honest in my opinion the only players who could potentially be of interest to other fee paying clubs are

KOC
Frampton (if fit)
Maybe one or more of Peters/Charles/Osbourne/Ide if they come through

Jo Kuffour

But Osbourne still has alot to learn as he is only 18 years of age.

Jo Kuffour

Anyone else you'd like to discuss on this thread, jbl?

As one or two others have said, Jo Kuffour will be going nowhere this week. Yes, he's started off pretty well for us, but his past goalscoring record tends to suggest that 4 goals in 3 is a real purple patch for him. Hopefully it'll continue for a while, but I wouldn't personally bank on it.

If he gets 15-18 gaols for us this season, that would be a good effort and certainly better than anyone else in recent times, so that would realistically be the best that we can hope for, even if he stays injury-free. If he gets more than 18 goals, then he'd be a really good signing. As it is, he still looks a pretty good acquisition, but, it's early days yet.

Keep up the good work, Jo:sorted:

Promising start for Kuffour but no need to do anything yet.

If he's only on a one year contract (I don't know if it was one year or two) and if his form continues for a few weeks more, we should perhaps (Nov/Dec)look at an extension so that we have a chance of a future fee, BUT we would have to be careful that we didn't pay more in higher wages than the hypothetical fee might be.

I can't imagine he has done enough yet for anyone to be rushing in before Thursday's deadline.

whats kevin rapely doing these days?

Rapley is playing for Droylsden FC. Wonder what may have happened to his career if Noades hadn't been determined to ship him out? (Noades had a hissy fit because the fans sang Rapley's name when we were losing at Rochdale without him. That was part of it though I think Noades didn't rate him anyway, despite him scoring regularly at the start of our promotion season).

Given that he had chances at 2 or 3 other clubs without making much of an impression, the most probable answer is that he would have drifted out of the Brentford team and into lon-league. [I have nothing against the guy, but some rose-tinted specs seem to have converted him into a potential lost star with little evidence to back up that view]

Jo Kuffour

He scored twice in the opening game, but his record is 5 league goals in 33 league appearances or 8 in 44 in all competitions at Brentford. Pretty poor, but his goalscoring record didn't improve when he played for other (lower) clubs. Noades got us £50,000 from Notts County for Krapley, which must be regarded as a rip-off, quite frankly.

Jo Kuffour

Rapley's a good example of a player that appeals to many Bees fans: scores early on in his career with maybe a spectacular goal or two and runs around like a headless chicken for the rest of the time.

Back to the topic...

I really hope that Jo does not fall into this category, that he scores loads of great goals for us and that we hold out for that extra million or so when he is finally re-signed by Wenger from under Mourinho's nose!

Jo Kuffour

Who do you think has a promising future at Brentford ? i think peters and osbourne will espicaaly as they are both young and learning still.
