John Bostock

John Bostock

Great start to his Brentford career, however long or short it may be.

Has there been a better debut?

John Bostock

He was good but not amazing. Not sure we got the best out of him or that he even knew where he fitted into the team for long periods. Always wanted the ball, sometimes too much and wish he'd drive inside onto his left more as for the first goal.

John Bostock

Excellent!!! Sign him for the season please.

John Bostock

For a 17 year old he was excellent. Would love to see him centre midfield but he would probably get clattered. A good opening game!

John Bostock

it does seem that the best attacking players we have had of late have been loan players. sad but true loking back to last season as well.
It's the nature of the lower leagues really. If Bostock was one of our own, he'd have been snapped up long ago.

John Bostock

Ithought he was amazing,a possible England left midfield player even..

He has some rough edges for sure but no surprise for a 17 year old, I can see why Spurs have loaned him out at this level, could be a very mutual arrangement.

Cross Bowles with Franny Joseph and add pace and you have Bostock.

You are having a laugh? He's 17. I don't know whether he's been playing for reserves or youth team, but certainly not league football... and then he turns up cold and plays like he did today. If you can't see he's a proper footballer...

I don't mean he's not a good player, just he wasn't amazing today. He drifted in and out of the second half when we favoured Weston as the outlet ball and I don't think right wing suited him. He's probably best in the middle but I can't see us playing him there.

I agree with above, good first half, didn't get enough of the ball second half, but what an exciting player to have in the squad.

He's 17!!!! What?!! Didn't know he was that young

Great control and balance. Fantastic that we can attract a player of that quality to our club. Hoepfully more will follow. :sorted: :sorted:

He only trained with the squad on Fri, if this is what we have to look forward to then I can't wait.

Sorry, but I'll have to disagree. The only two teenagers I can remember being so impressed by on first viewing are Paul Merson, and Mark Wright when he played in an end of season friendly for Southampton even longer ago.

John Bostock

I am starting to wonder what could possibly make some people happy.

where does it say "some people" are not?

they're commenting on his performance today. that's all. or isn't this allowed?

WHAT....you've been brainwashed by too much Div4 mate, please tell me a better player to have pulled on a Bees shirt in the last....I don't know how long

Jordan Rhodes, Michael Turner, Billy Clarke. to name 3 on a par IMO.

Bostock was good, lets see if he can do it next week.

He is the sort of player you would pay to watch and we don"t get many of those.

John Bostock

If you haven't been down to GP of late. Would suggest you get down to see this kid whilst he is with us. Hopefully for the rest of the season. It was worth the entrance money just to see him play. Great signing :sorted:

All fine players, but Turner and Clarke both c. 21. Rhodes 19. Happy to have a wager with you that Bostock goes further in the game than any of them.

John Bostock

Billy Clarke doesn't come anywhere near the others. Wilson is a better shout IMO.

John Bostock

He was class, he went missing in action for a period but it was a mental game in mental conditions and he will adapt. A fantastic signing, the best player on the pitch by far, the only one who seemed to have time on the ball when the challenges were flying in.

I think there will be some games against weaker teams where he is unplayable.

John Bostock

He was caressing and stroking the ball as opposed to hitting and thumping it. The natural ability makes me jealous and I'm still amazed that Spurs are happy to expose him to some of the brutality of League One.

Agree he oozed class when he had the ball, as others have said would love to see him in the middle

I surprised no championship teams have asked him on loan

:imwith:

There must be some Championship clubs absolutely gutted at our capture. Well done to all that brokered this one.

John Bostock

The potential was there for all to see. All left foot, but what a left foot! He dominated the first 30 minutes and Millwall couldn't cope. First goal a beauty, the second a fluke, but gratefully received. Could've had his hat-trick had he reacted better to Charlie's shot back off the post. Faded in the second half but he moved centrally to get more of the ball.

He's good, and he knows he's good. There's a swagger about him that I've not seen since Tony Folan. Here's hoping for a season-long, exciting stay :sorted:

John Bostock

He was warming up in front of me - I knew then that he'd be class. Everything was so effortless - complete control of the ball.

John Bostock

can we have him for the rest of the season 'Arry. :sorted:

Yes the ball seemed to stick to his feet like he had (bostick) glue on them :sneakoff:

Lets keep our fingers crossed that Spurs continue to challenge for a CL place and therefore won't feel the need to turn to any of their raw youngsters :sorted:

:nono: he's english so he wouldn't be in the 'first team', maybe the League Cup squad ! :fishing:

No, not in my time supporting the bees

John Bostock

Best player I have ever seen in a Brentford shirt :)

you haven't been to many Brentford games over the years then!

Based on one game, you have an a strong opinion as that! Wow.

John Bostock

Come on then throw a few names in the hat ?

Depends really on whether you're going on a position to be able to compare past players. Each have their own merits.

Terry Hurlock, Terry Evans, Dean Holdsworth, Marcus Gayle, Michael Turner, Jordan Rhodes, Andy SInton etc etc To say the 'best ever'............lets see

John Bostock

He'd be up there in that time. I think if you go back 40 though there'd be a few other contenders.

so you honestly believe that players 40 years ago were anywhere near the standard of modern day players, really ;)
