You've got a good grasp of English law... innocent until proven guilty.
You obviously didn't read the preceding statement about possibly having 3 categories of judgement.

John Terry

This will clearly be a not guilty (or not proven) verdict.

It has been proved that he said the words but no-one can prove the context.

No other players or officials heard (which I find hard to believe in itself) and the video footage is partially obscured.

I am totally sick of the whole saga, thank god it will all be over soon.

John Terry

I did. English law has its roots in Common Law which does not consider such a verdict; those law systems based on Roman Law and state prosecution often have this reserved judgement or other vagaries. John Terry is being tried under English law, where the onus is on proving guilt.

John Terry

Verdict expected just after 2pm...what we going for.....for me....away win

John Terry

Whichever. He'll be the Pick of the Pariahs for next aseson for all football fans everyone except the morons at Stamford bridge who will no doubt unfurl an even larger 'KING JT' banner.

John Terry

England captain John Terry has been found not guilty of racial abuse....

John Terry

What a joke of a trial - £2m to the tax payer... nice one.

John Terry

Should only go to court if there is a proper punch up.

Any name calling , sledging , racism etc. should be left to the parties concerned.

Its OK to call someone a f***ing c***; but not a f***ing b**** c*** ?

Sanchez will be justifiably upset I suppose.

If you called someone a f***ing c**t, you could end up in court charged with using words or behaviour likely to cause alarm harassment or distress. So by the letter of the law, neither of them are OK.

As Bill Benn said, it was an off duty police officer that made the complaint, so it became a civil case, therefore Anton Ferdinand had to comply with the processes. So blame the QPR supporter. That's why the FA didn't act.

John Terry

he watched the youtube vid and jumped on the bandwagon...
By jumped on the bandwagon, you mean he was called to testify in court and didn't refuse?

I feel sorry for Anton Ferdinand, because people like you will blame him even though by his own admission he didn't pursue the case or want it to come to court.

John Terry

Are you seriously suggesting that Anton Ferdinand should have refused to testify in court?

didn't Rio had a big part in that.. complete waste of money :(

John Terry

I'd wager Rio egged him on all the way given the ongoing feud between him and Terry.

Rio got his agents involved after Anton said he didn't want to do anything..

Does that mean we can criticise Ashley Cole for appearing in court too?

Anton Ferdinand was the victim here, he was called to give evidence by the CPS after a complaint made by an off duty police officer. If he had refused to testify I suspect it would have been contempt of court.

I am amazed that some people are attempting to blame Anton Ferdinand for this. I suppose it shows a little about their own psyche.

Take a look at the reactions on the Millwall forum to see evidence of proper racism.

Although I can't see how any blame can be apportioned to Ferdinand I also have some sympathy for Terry, whose reputation has been further soiled by an allegation made by a third party which was ultimately unproven by the courts.

All very unnecessary IMO, as may I add, was the appearance by Steven Lawrence's mother. Whilst I accept she was within her rights to attend, it was the connotations of her being there which I felt rather uncomfortable with.

Another nail in football's coffin as well as the end of any lingering love I have for the pro game!

Oi hold your horses. Where have I blamed Anton? Not a fan of Terry is in the slightest.

I think the outcome will upset a lot of people...Garth Crooks included it seems....it seems JT has upset many.

John Terry

It's reported that the FA will consider whether Terry has broken their rules - ungentlemanly conduct, professional wrongdoing or bringing the game into disrepute.
But presumably they will also also need to consider whether Anton Ferdinand also broke the rules - especially since it appears he started the obscene gestures and insults. (and perhaps many other players on the pitch in that bad tempered game were engaging in ungentlemanly conduct and should be hauled before the FA.)

It also seemed odd to me that the guy who initiated the complaint - the off duty police officer watching the game on telly and unable to hear any words spoken - was not required to demonstrate or give evidence that he had been alarmed, harassed or distressed by comments he thought were made.

All in all a bad week for football and also the Crown Prosecution Service who spent a reported £500k on a case with so little evidence.

John Terry

Anton seems a half decent bloke.......dragged into this by others.
The summing up of the judge was about spot on regarding Terry and Cole and made it clear in no uncertain terms that he didn't belive either of them but he had his hands tied.
Shame on the bloke for being a copper, a QPR fan and a complete **** - cost the taxpayer in the region of £2million.

Rio's choc ice comment was stupid and a disparaging comment on race.
However there's a difference between a black man calling another black man a choc ice.... and a white man calling a black man "a black c##t"

Only if you want to bury your head in the sand and not address the real issue that black people can also be racist.

A bit like a black man calling another black man a Nigger and that's ok never got that one sure someone will let me know.

This is not going away, seemingly pressure is being put on the FA by two anti racist groups (one of whom Garth Crooks is a representative of) to take action against Terry and I wouldn't bet against them not doing so.

There is also a lot of selective quotes being thrown around from the magistrates written findings, his full and detailed account is far more balanced to all parties than is being implied in places.

As for Rio F I am coming to the conclusion that he is a nasty piece of work and can see why Hodgson didn't want him around the England squad. His Choc Ice tweeting is unbelievably out of order in the current climate and a dreadful example from a supposed role model in the game. If they throw the book at Terry then they should at him too.

I didnt say they weren't.
But that wasnt the issue in this case, which was about racist language on a football pitch.

Gazza once called Ince a pint of guiness whilst they played together in that famous game v Italy, Ince cut his head and had a bandage wrapped around his barnet and whilst we were all watching and pooing ourselves, they were having a pisstake. Thank God Ince didn't take him to court, quite frankly the world has gone mad.

John Terry

Police are investigating the fact that someone has described Cole as a "choc ice" ie black on the inside but white on the inside - that is, not having what are perceived as attitudes and views typical of your race. Obama was once described as an "Oreo" for the same reason.
Can'twe say anything these days without being in fear of the Taliban-like police interfering?

John Terry

How long before you get arrested for calling someone English or Black?

JT was a bit naughty, the choc ice comment is a joke. How can it be called racist?

Someones I wish we lived on another planet so I could just stay there for a while.
