I'm content for this thread to be used to discuss the recent stories about John Terry know that they are widely reported in the press, obviously including the issues surrounding Terry continuing as England captain.

However, please refrain from speculation that is not widely reported in the UK press and other members of the Terry family whether or not it has been reported in the UK press or not.

The lady in question has apparently engaged the services of a Mr Max Clifford. She no doubt hopes Mr Clifford will help her through this trying time by making her shed loads of money. No doubt a career as a Z list celeb beckons. Mr Terry has form for all sorts of shennanigans and brushes with the law. He already has shed loads of money. Both are consenting adults and allegedly in control on their mind and therefore destiny.

Elsewhere in the news, hundreds of thousands are still homeless and hungry in Haiti following an earthquake.

A footballer does something 'morally' wrong but isn't illegal. It's hardly news. He's England captain because he's passionate about the game, good leader etc. not because he's a do-gooder. Who are they going to replace him with? A player who's too dopey to remember he's had a drugs test? Someone who punches DJ's in the face?

This does seem to have whipped up the media into a great frenzy. Who started the "Capello to drop JT as captain" ridiculous story?

Unfortunately, he and many other top-level footballers each has an industry of hangers-on (aka advisors) built around them, usually because they are unable to think for themselves. His big mistake (and I guess it was under advice) was to try to take on the Red-Tops with the legal system. If he'd ingored it he would have had a couple of weeks of headlines and then it would have all been forgotten - who really cares about footballers screwing around - but he's challenged the media and the media will chastise him. I almost feel sorry for him.

England does not have anyone else with captain potential, so :shrug:, we'll just have to learn to live with it. At least they've ignored me.

Wayne Bridge is reserve left back who probably should be behind Warnock based on this season performances, Terry should not have done it but from what I've read they were already split up so in the end the only one hurt should be his wife but he's done it before and I doubt its a shock to her.

But he will have to sit in the dressing room and make stirring comments like "we are in this together mates" "let's go out there together and show them we are united (well not that united)"

The dressing room is bound to be divided now, you would see that in an office, Sunday league dressing rooms etc. he has to step down so that the FA are not having to make the decision

I can't help thinking the decision to allow the press to publish all this has set an interesting precedent. I wonder how many other footballers, managers and ex-pros are now nervously wondering if they will be next!

Lots of pious guff in the press today. As if any of this matters, particularly for England selection. The press should leave him alone, we all know what he is like from previous escapades.
