John Terry

John Terry

Check the papers, wasn't it yet another NotW exclusive. Perhaps the other issues with his personal life will get the full disclosure treatment lol

It was the Daily Mail, I think most papers have very fat files on his life off the pitch. Must be at least a 10 match ban this week

Why will he get a ban ?
Geniune question, he was cleared in court of law so what can the FA base any ban on?

Behaviour likely to bring the game into disrepute? Maybe they will take a view that says if events on the field of play end up in court then that is not good for the game.

Another genuine question is Ferdinand up in front of the FA too and if so will they both get the same treatment?

The charges are slightly different. As I said above, in a court you have to prove beyond doubt that it was said in a derogatory manner, whereas the FA can charge him for using the words Terry has admitted to saying to Ferdinand.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19693874

This from the Telegraph website.....

He was cleared by Westminster Magistrates Court in July of a racially aggravated public order offence after he used the words “f------ black c---” in an angry exchange directed at Ferdinand.

Terry has always claimed that he used the phrase as part of a question, to ascertain whether Ferdinand believed he had used the words earlier in the game in an abusive context. The FA has pursued the charge because Terry’s use of the words, regardless of context, could constitute a breach of its rules banning offensive language and conduct.

Ferdinand & bridgeto now come out of international retirement? Good riddance to JT after his traitorous coup attempts in SA. Thinks he's bigger than his team/country.
:kingkev:

John Terry

Not a lot of sympathy for him but you do get the feeling that is a rolling stone with the FA.

Seems they have to be seen to be doing something to appease certain people/ parties and I am quite sure they will dish out some ban or other to try and get closure.

Not sure anyone has come out of this well.

I think he is still one of Englands best defenders and will be badly missed in the current qualifying campaign.

John Terry

I think the FA had to delay the hearing until after the court case, they set the precedent in the Liverpool v MU case so cannot see it being less than 8 games

John Terry

Appears his criminal case defence near enough convicts him under FA rules. He will have known this from the start.

John Terry

I am referring to the fact they don't like each other which is fairly evident and the disharmony in the squad caused by the fractious groups of senior players. (Sorry, I thought it was fairly obvious)

Without meaning to drag this on, I've re-read what you originally said that I disagreed with and I still think it's nonsensical. You say that Ferdinand being humoured by someone calling Ashley Cole a 'choc ice' explains why England were a shambles at the 2010 World Cup and is the reason Hodgson left Ferdinand out of the 2012 Euros squad. Are you seriously claiming that the lack of confidence, cohesion, tactical naivety, fitness levels of the players as well as a multitude of other contributants to England's poor performance are because of a perceived rift between Terry and Ferdinand? Unless you've been a fly on the wall throughout the 2010 World Cup campaign and can read Hodgson's mind, your opinions are utterly baseless and show a level of farcical speculation that I didn't even think the GPG was capable of :thetruth:

No ta. Neither of them are model human beings... Or footballers good enough to win a World Cup.

If you believe 'informed' sources both Duck Face and Terry have seriously disliked each other for years. That poisonous atmosphere hasn't helped the English set up. Good riddance to both pricks.

John Terry

There's a difference between not helping the English set up and being the sole reason England were a shambles at the World Cup. Andy Cole and Teddy Sheringham famously despised each other; it didn't seem to do Man United any harm :cutthecrap:

John Terry

Man Utd had one of the best ever managers and a decent team. England, well they hadn't and don't now.

John Terry

I have read several comments that team spirit under Capello wasn't the best which was put down as one of the reasons for a poor 2010 world cup. Cliques amongst certain players and the arrogance of some towards younger players was part of the this lack of spirit. It has also been suggested that this had changed by time Euro 2012 and Hodgson came around.

The fact that Ferdinand was left out of the Euros and Terry wasn’t says it all to me.

John Terry

Guilty. 4 game ban. £220k fine. Shame it wasn't more.

John Terry

John Terry's FA punishment a shambles, says Joey Barton. Barton, 30, said that by the "FA's perverse reckoning" he would have "got less of a ban for racially abusing the Man City players than tickling them like I did". He added: "In what circumstances can that be right?"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19749030

John Terry

Barton got 3 reds that why he got a 12 game ban, he should just concentrate on keeping that bench warm in Marseille

John Terry

I beleive John Terry was shouting "f***king black ****" in a jokey sarcastic way as he said. He was mocking racism. Like Alf Garnett. He is the king of satire and is too far ahead of his time intellectually for the FA plebs to understand. One day the public will understand his groundbreaking attempts to bring down racism from the inside using irony but sadly not yet. :thetruth:

John Terry

I would like to see them draw a line under it and get on life.

They have all looked a complete bunch of c*cks. Terry for being Terry, Anton for the handshake b*llocks, the FA for dragging it out and Rio for sticking his doppey oar in and being a complete and utter c*nt.

John Terry

Anton Ferdinand not shaking Terry's hand is fair enough but for him to blank Ashley Cole too was childish. What for? The heinous crime of sticking up for your friend and colleague

John Terry

The fact Paul Davis has stuck his oar in has made less against JT... If it winds up Davis then cut the ban and fine
(*these views are based purely on Brentford memories than any form of race/colour beliefs).

John Terry

I noticed Terry playing today and thought hang on a minute I thought he was banned? Evidently the ban doesnt come into effect until Terry has decided he will make an appeal or not. In otherwise he is picking the 4 games he would rather miss!

I dont get the criticisms of the Ferdinand's. Anton didnt ask to be racially abused. Rio was just sticking up for his brother. Its what i would expect from someones brother who has been abused. If i was Anton i wouldnt have shaken Terry's or Cole's hand either

John Terry

I don't get the criticisms of the Ferdinands.
While some of the criticism is undeserved, neither has come out of this with credit. Without the media stirring, this whole affair would have gone unnoticed, particularly by Anton. JT is there to be shot at, mainly deservedly, and everyone has taken a pot shot at him but there's an awful lot of rank silliness as if the pair of them are Marx and Engels; they're footballers from similar background and education and not philosophers. Personally, my low opinion of Terry has gone up a bit.

John Terry

Rio 'forgot' a drugs test, says all you need to know about Duck Face.

I must have got the same education as i didnt understand half of that!

John Terry

Chelsea's secretary should be handing in his resignation to the FA this afternoon as well judging by that report. Unfit for office.

John Terry

BRILLIANT!!
How thick can some footballers be? #bunchoftwats surely that hashtag will be trending worldwide if not already!
It must have been a boring world when celebrities would have to call a news conference to slag people off, giving plenty of time for their PR manager to talk them out of it.

Nowadays those PR people must dread seeing an update on their client's twitter feed.

Exactly... Jeez, I hate to think the sh*t @jamessavile mightve posted.

John Terry

If Cole is that pi55ed off, why doesn't he just 'retire' from England duty and get his legal advisors to state his reason a little more eloquently. Or make himself available to play but not for sponsors or FA duties and hit the FA where it hurts, in their wallets!!

He is a complete and utter dick, but the FA have sort of called him a liar.

I doubt Cole will be picking up his 100 caps now?! Only 2 away as well!

Good excuse to play Baines now who has been on top from since the start of the season.

On the pitch Cole is still a very good player IMO

John Terry

That's what I mean about him being thick... Yep, he should have maybe got his legal advisors to look into slander if he was so convinced he was unfairly being called a liar. Not sure how he can now represent the FA aka hashtag bunch of *****. I bet Rio is pissing his pants.

John Terry

Don't be too sure Roy spoke with him today and he is in the squad for the up coming games.so his 100th cap will come in 10 days time

Yes. I hear he has deleted the tweet and apologised..... Now if I did/said that about my bosses I'd be out of a job!!

How about your 'employers calling you a liar?

I'm no Cashley fan, but I would say his employers are Chelsea, not the FA. The FA/England manager choose Cole to play for the country.

Neither am I but I can understand Cole's fury.

John Terry

"After careful consideration, I have decided not to appeal against the FA judgment.

I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game against Queens Park Rangers last October.

Although I'm disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life.

As I stated in the criminal case, with the benefit of hindsight my language was clearly not an appropriate reaction to the situation for someone in my position.

'My response was below the level expected by Chelsea Football Club, and by me, and it will not happen again"
Wow, there's the quote he should have given a year ago.
