The difference is that someone, probably Uwe, would ask Kevin to come and lift the trophy, whereas Terry just assumes its his given right to lift it. Kev has more class in his little finger than John Terry would ever have.

Two people on my train this morning were discussing this and allegedly UEFA rules state that to receive a medal players must be in playing attire. Mind you they got that second hand off 5 live breakfast this morning so may be bollox for all I know

Edin Hazard didn't collect his medal as he wore a suit. He let the team that won the trophy get all the applause ;)

The point is he doesn't deserve a medal. How many minutes did he play in the whole competition? Not many. He's a Grade A **** he really is.

He played the full 90 in 5 of the 8 games in the competition. The other 3 he missed through injury. By your logic KOC does not deserve a medal if we win on Sunday?

No no no, I also dislike him!

But he is a very good player unfortunately and I think he deserves his success, as much as it pains me to say. Same can be said for Rio Ferdinand and Cashley who I also detest.

Ok, put it another way. Can you imagine :kingkev: getting changed, putting the full kit on, shin pads, deep heat etc, and then going up to lift any kind of trophy if he wasn't involved?

Or do you think he is a much more humble human being than that? :yes:

I can understand last year when he played an active role and got suspended in the semi but this year has been more down then up for Terry and its obvious he's on his last legs at Chelsea and frankly it was an embarrassment to see him out there celebrating

I'd say Cahill actually had a better game than Terry last night but as a partnership they were outstanding and would be great to have at the World Cup.

But Terry has retired and having qualified without him I can't see Hodgson bringing him back, it wouldn't be fair on Jagielka who helped us qualify.

Doubt Terry would want to go as back up either? oh well we still have Lescott, Smalling and Jones so we can all sleep easily...................

Still the best CB, but for England a dressing-room divider it seems. But with Ferdinand out of the picture, maybe it wouldn't hurt to bring him back for one last tournament as he is our number CB and can play alongside Cahill.

In fairness what's the point, we are not going to win the damn thing and need to use this competition as a build up for the Euros, as such having Terry back is a short term issue and does not help team morale

I hope none of the old guard bar possibly Lampard make it.
We won't figure in the final fortnight regardless of who we take so rather blood a group of positive youngsters who will learn, bond and hopefully return as better individuals and as a collective.
Let's plan for the future.

Exactly - if he ever were to change his mind and become available, the FA will ban him for a few games. Terry played little part in England getting to the WC and should be nowhere near the team now. If Aguero was playing last night, he would have made Terry look very silly IMO.

England need a clearout after this tournament, by the time the next one comes around, first-picks Gerrard will be 36, Lampard 38 and Cole 35. Somehow though I think they will be ever-presents for England as long as they are playing in the "EPL".

It's a 23 man squad for a World Cup.

There are barely 23 Englishmen left in the Premier League to pick.

The planet will be destroyed by global warming/hit by an asteroid/solar storm or whatever long before England ever has a chance again of winning anything.

Foreign owners, foreign managers buying increasing numbers of average foreign players, high price tags on English youngsters etc etc are all adding to the ever decreasing pool of players to pick from. This cycle will not end anytime soon, if ever !
