The arrogance of this guy is absolutely breathtaking.You'd think after the ridicule he rightly got for changing into his kit at the Champions League final he'd learn his lesson but apparently the chief instigator and organiser of yesterdays 26th minute fiasco was Terry himself.Wouldn't be surprised to learn he has a printing business turning out Captain Leader Legend banners.

They said on MOTD that Sunderland and the officials had agreed to this performance.

" Now that we both have nothing to play for would you mind, as well as giving us a guard of honour, kicking the ball out in the 26th minute and letting us do a guard of honour for John. Join in as well if you like, or actually just applaud and stay out of our way."

How did they ever agree to this? Terry could have got an extra 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the team when they first came out and that would've done it.

Can you have a bet on when someone is substituted?

Did the bookies pay out money on Terry being substituted in 26th minute. If it was pre arranged then it should have been announced and possible betting scam avoided.

Rumour is Terry arrived before the game with 10 latex John Terry masks for his team mates to wear, so that John Terry could applaud John Terry off the pitch, but that proved a stretch too far

Tbh I'll always remember him as a great player for England (not a Chelsea fan in any way but obviously a great player for them) and who played his heart out for both teams. Wish we had more like him.
As for the non-footballing stuff....he's an assh*t for sleeping with a teammates missus. However I'll never consider him a racist in the real nasty sense of the word.
The full-kit stuff I just find funny and a bit child-like enthusiasm which I don't really mind.

Indeed, yesterday he milked it a bit and it was a bit Hollywood, but then he is a very unique player given the 22 years at one club and the successes he has achieved during that time. Can't fault the loyalty or the success and dedication.

Pat Nevin (yes, ex-Chelsea) defended it on 5Live last night. His reasoning was that it was only really seen by the people it was intended for - Chelsea fans in the stadium at the time. The game wasn't being broadcast to a much wider audience. He reckoned some Chelsea fans had a tear in their eye when he looked round as it was happening.

Me? I don't see an issue with a round of applause and substitution in the 26th minute, but the guard of honour was completely OTT!

I have the same thoughts. If Jota gives us another 10 years and in his final game something similar happened to allow us and him to show our appreciation of each other would we be outraged? I suspect not.

I think this is more about the individual concerned and not the actual event that took place.

We all saw those ridiculous over sized flags at the cup replay a few years ago and it was blatantly obvious then that Chelsea had sold its soul and become an ongoing PR campaign.
