Join Bees United?

Followed up with my BU colleagues overnight - memberships have now been issued and so cards should be with applicants by Tuesday whilst the club will also be given updated member details ahead of then.
Hope this helps but feel free to mail BU should you have any further questions (it'll be seen quicker than me checking on GPG - which fluctuates)

So is it still worth joining with your season ticket purchase??

Should we renew bees united or get club membership. Don't wanna do both

Bias membership would be a good idea.

Doesn't get you in the queue for tickets though. BIAS I'm sticking with as a member mind you.

BU is now raising funds for what?

As all of the club Directors, who loaned the club money, and LBH have been repaid their loans, shouldn't the BU Loan Note holders be repaid theirs now? What was the 'deal' with loaning monies to BU?

What are BU's aims going forward? Yes they hold the Golden Share, but what else? Keeping funds in an account, just in case?

I'd go with Club Membership personally if you haven't got an ST.

I was a BU Standing Order member. After MB's takeover, I asked on a number of occasions what would my SO monies be used for & why should I continue to support BU?

I never did get a reply so I cancelled my SO & in all honesty, can't see the benefits of membership. If I'm wrong, can a BU member please tell me what I'm missing?

I guess a key role for BU is to protect the interest of supporters / the club if it ever goes all wrong again. While we may have trust in MB you never know what lies in the future. The role of BU in getting to where we are must not be forgotten.

There was a discussion about repaying loan note holders at the last AGM. It wasn't actually a motion so nothing decided but Dave Merrit did say they would discuss at the BU board meetings.

For the record, I will maintain my BU membership at £15 per year. My S/O stopped many years ago.

What Matthew Benham has done and still is doing is great. But no-one would expect him to keep putting in money at the current level forever - BFC has to become self-sustaining. And it must be considered what would happen if tragedy struck.
BU (plus the Financial Fair Play) has put in place measures so that, if Matthew's cheques suddenly stopped, it could run things down to a sustainable level. I.e. where it was when BU took over - just surviving in the Football League. The more money that BU has put away to help in such times, the better. If loan note holders need their money back, I'm sure they would only have to ask. BU gives us an insurance policy, and some hundreds of thousands of pounds in case of emergency. Lets hope it is never needed. Meanwhile, its a good idea to keep topping it up and not leave it to chance that in another crisis it will be possible to find large amounts of money from fans in a hurry, and that someone will put their house on the line to guarantee a large loan.
BU has the Golden Share which hopefully safeguards that we always have a ground to play on. It has the wherewithal and experience to keep the club going in an emergency. Well worth supporting, I think.

I still pay a small amount each month by SO-about the price of 2 or 3 pints...and have done for years now-hadn't really thought about stopping-but I suppose maybe I should ?

Is it worth me carrying on ?

Couple of mates paid the 'Life' member £300 odd when they were desperate for money. Emailed BU a couple of times n never heard back with exactly this money is for. Personally I stopped my SO last season but would be nice to hear from BU with regards to this sort of issue

Don't forget Bees United are sponsoring the Braemar Road Stand.

That's where some of the money is going.

Same here. I think I'm going to cancel my SO and just go with annual membership.

The OS now states that Bees United members, for the 2014/15 season, will NOT automatically be Brentford Football Club members (unlike 2013/14), thus will
have to subscribe to both! Are the club no longer interested in BU, as this appears to be a backward step?

All seems a bit sad in view of the efforts Bees United made for the club. I can't help thinking though, that the lack of info and the lack of response to threads such as this, would lead a lot of people to think that Bees United themeselves aren't too sure as to the purpose of their continued existence? :suspect:

I see no problem in this. It is 2 very different memberships. You can't keep repaying the past. They did what they did at the time, the club continued upto last season to 'honour' BU members but the club is owned by someone else now. People can choose what is their preference, one, the other or both. It depends on what they want from a membership. If you get a ST, you are a BFC Club member anyway, so for 99% of those in BU, there is no need to choose between the 2 as they get Club membership already

Are you being serious in saying that 99% of BU Members are also season ticket holders???????????? Incidentally, I was querying why BU Members are no longer considered as important as per last
season. Nothing whatsoever to do with repaying the past. Also, if MB's business interests took a dive wouldn't BU still be important? Don't understand your totally dismissive attitude towards BU
Members, and wonder if it is because you never were one yourself!

Could someone in the hierarchy of Bees United please tell us what is going on, and whether it is worthwhile still subscribing to them, as I would like to make an informed
decision, but at the moment the lack of information is disturbing. Thank you.

If you had bothered to read my prior post you would have seen I was a member until last season and still gave them my £15 in the ST as well so double member thanks very much. If you had also bothered to read my previous post, I too have questioned the lack of response re BU. We don't all agree and yes I would say the vast majority were ST holders as the vast majority of people who had a ST kept their inclusive membership. Maybe as MB has taken over everything and repaid everything during this last season then the relationship with BU had changed. As a Bees fan, you would know all this anyway.

Yes I do know, and I don't need your condescending attitude to tell me what to do, as per your previous post, and if you read my posting you will see that 4 others
already agree with my message to BU. What we don't know is why BU are being included out

BU has not been repaid. Its loans are still with BFC.

Bees United do still put money into the club.

The Bees United Stand.

It is important to understand the difference between loans and sponsorship, particularly in relation to FFP. BU - regardless of the relative silence - has a critical role to play in the future of BFC. Obviously, the protection of the club is the № 1 priority, covering any risks relating to MB's ownership. Using additional monies as sponsorship adds to the club's income and therefore affects the FFP calculations. Lifeline is in a similar position. Fans can feel pleased with MB putting his hard-earned in but fans also need to understand the bigger picture re the continued existence and rise of BFC and make their own contribution.

How long does that sponsorship last for?

I might be wrong but I think it was just a one off payment (same with BIAS stand I think) and if companies wanted to pay the "going rate" I'm sure both stands could/would be re-named without any fuss.

The BIAS Stand is a annual renewal, however the Football Club kindly waived any fee for the past year as a "Thank You" for our efforts with the Lionel Road campaign.

Is it that one with the seats then? :suspect: Am I the only one, that regardless of sponsorship, doesn't have the faintest idea what people are talking about when they burble on about BIAS, Bees United, Bill Axeby stands etc. It's New Road, Ealing Road, Braemar Road and Brook Road - formely known as the Royal Oak before being raped and pillaged. :thetruth:
