I'm amazed it's taken them this long to work it out.

................Maccas gonna get him............

Jonathan Douglas

How long has he signed up for at Ipswich?

Jonathan Douglas

Still was a class player for BFC in my eyes

Jonathan Douglas

in the last few games, he just didn't seem fit..

True- but since 2011 was a valuable player- probably off the boil now as 33 years of age

It can't be denied that he was superb from August to February last year, and his surprise goalscoring streak was a real bonus. Without wishing to dig up an old story, there's also no proof that the injury to Jota was any more than an attempt to block a shot on goal.

However, like in 2012/13 (when he eventually missed the play-off final) he struggled in the final third of last season, and he's only getting older. His most consistent season in terms of performances was 13/14, but his injury at the start of that year meant he had fewer games to get through.

I was actually a big fan of JD and thought he had a superb first half of last season. However I simply cannot forgive him for what he did to Jota on the first day of this season. A recent ex team mate arguably our most skillful player in years. Disgraceful attempted 'tackle or block'. Should have been sent off and banned for 4 games at the very least. I hope someone is able to smack him with a good old fashioned challenge just to let him know how we feel.

Jonathan Douglas

Why oh why oh why did we let him go.

Disgrace.

Benham Out.

Jonathan Douglas

A one time very good player who, for the most part, served us well; and I for one am grateful for that; simply reaching the end of his career, in the Championship certainly, and to a fair few people that was apparent at the end of last Season.

Well once Mac gets him they won't have to worry ;)
That should be an interesting chase... 5 minutes from one side of the pitch to the other accompanied by furious pointing?

Jonathan Douglas

Aren't they mates??……

Jonathan Douglas

............what's the score.????..........

Jonathan Douglas

Jonathan Douglas

Did he do any of his speciality "hopeful flick around the corner" balls today?

Jonathan Douglas

Any good today when he came on? Lost a lot of respect for him due to that Jota tackle and the stories since but was still a good player for us.

..............did nothing of note .............

Didn't kick anyone up in the air then?
Didn't get close enough... but did have a man hug with McCormack at the end.

No doubt with ROB and his imaginary friends after the game too

Jonathan Douglas

Thought he was very, very ordinary, didn't get in the game and our supporters shouting "encouragement" to him lol just seemed to make him point even more.
Personally I think under MM he has deteriorated as a player and it is a shame to watch, should have stayed put,but that's past.

Jonathan Douglas

Seems to me that he's lost something in the past year. A yard of pace, interest, intensity?

It also seemed to begin with that our players were a bit apprehensive to close him down, almost like they expected a b***ocking off him afterwards.

As soon as AM won a battle with him though, the rest of our players started joining in and he just didn't look like he wanted it so much. Saunders fought him for every ball after that and won nearly everything.

He's still an intelligent player with decent passing, positioning and movement but he is also the sort that wants to be fighting for a cause and due to his age and his lack of pace, he's probably best suited out on loan to a L1 club with play-off ambitions next season.

But hey, he's not our problem, and despite insinuations on here, he personally congratulated all of our players at the end (including Lasse what's his name and all of our other despicable foreigners).

Your first sentence for me the probable reason why we let him go.

Yes, we have missed him at times but given his age it was very unlikely he'd be as good a player this year as last year

MW gave him a new 1 year deal before he left, heard he was a bad influence in the dressing room, he sulked when he got dropped..

.............if he lost a yard of pace he would be going backwards............
