I think that's the thing with Ramos too. He's small(ish) but a very smart, cynical fecker, who uses his body well, positions well, times runs well (when attacking), etc.
So you can have smaller CBs that do well but they're relying on being smart and/or using their body well (better than all those they're coming up against).
A good big'un will beat a good small'un of the same ability generally but it doesn't mean a great small'un can't be better than a good big'un.
So no reason this new guy can't be a good/great CB.....he'll just have to be very smart and good at using his body to be as good as (or better) other taller good CBs.

It's possible but definitely not likely. Would be the exception rather than the rule if he gained very much after 18.

I spoke to Peter Gelson about this. He said he played against many taller players but they weren't good in the air. He said he only struggled when he was up against a big lad who was good in the air. He was talking about Jack Howarth, Aldershot ("big Jack" he called him). The only player I saw who Pete struggled against.

I would never judge a player, new to the Club, on one game or even a number. I was one of those who supported Neal when he was getting slaughtered. Young lad in a new country, new club, new language. It takes time to settle and give your best. That is pretty bloody obvious tbh.

It wasn't me who said Kane was classy. It was NLB. I assume for him to say that, he saw some classy stuff. As I say, I wasn't there.
