Keep or Clear Off

Which of the current squad would you keep or show the door (providing they havent got a long contract) in the summer. Mine is as follows (not inc loanees)

GK

Abbey. Good allround keeper KEEP
Nelson. On and Off form mostly frustrating CLEAR OFF
Masters. Clearly thinks hes better than Brentford CLEAR OFF

DEF

Tillen. How did he ever join Chelsea? were they blind CLEAR OFF
Frampton. All heart if not all skill . 100%er. Left back not centre KEEP
Heywood. Too slow and sluggish. Injury prone. CLEAR OFF
OConnor. Loyal to bees , utility man , had 1 bad season KEEP
Charles. Not one for the future CLEAR OFF
Osbourne. Disappointing when had chance but might be ok KEEP
Griffiths. Good early season bad end. jury's out KEEP
MID

Brooker. How many times do we have to hear he's "experienced". CLEAR OFF
Keith. A winger who rarely beats anyone or crosses CLEAR OFF
Pinault. Not a tackler and not good enough creatively. CLEAR OFF
Mousinho. The worst midfielder ive ever seen. CLEAR OFF
Ide. Will get better in a better team KEEP

STR

Owusu. Out a long time. if stays fit will be ok. wages ? KEEP
Shipperley. Good hold up man . need goals though. CLEAR OFF
Kuffour. Has scored the goals in a bad team KEEP
Willock. A striker who couldnt strike a match CLEAR OFF

Peters. No place for 1 run . Has had numerous chances. CLEAR OFF
Rhodes. Shame injury has wrecked the promise. CLEAR OFF

These are the players I would keep. I haven`t included the players who ain`t going to stay. There is also a MAJOR problem in that some of the players who have let the club down are on contract for next season and beyond in some cases.

Frampton - I still a little hope for him as a full back with quick CBs.

I would also change the coaching structure and have a new manager and player coach in support. Can`t afford another coach who isn`t playing. ala Reeves & Mortimer.lol lol lol lol lol lol

Brooker - KEEP (Until his contract runs out, 1 year left??, love him or hate him he's still the most creative player we have if you look at the stats)
Pinault - KEEP (Playing alongside a decent defensive midfielder could be decent, rate him more then Leary)
Leary - CLEAR OUT (He bings fouls and yellow cards to the team)
Ide - KEEP (Once his final ball is improved he'll be a good player)
Rhodes - KEEP (Maybe give him one last chance under a new manager, striker?)
Carder - KEEP (Highly rated but yet to produce for the first team or play)

Owusu - KEEP (Although he's probably gone)
Kuffour - KEEP (bye bye in anycase)
Shipperley - CLEAR OFF (and return the money)
Willock - Undecided (Scored quite a few goals in League 2 before)

Where there are contracts, we have no choice unless someone takes them off our hands, so O'Connor, Frampton, Heywood, Brooker, Mousinho, Tillen and (I think) Carder-Andrews are with us. None of them are bad enough for it to make sense to pay up contracts (even if we could afford it)

Of the others, I'd like to keep Kuffour (but little hope of that) and Ide shows promise; I'd also like to keep Richards, but that's not our decision. Frankly, beyond those 3 there is no-one whose departure will upset me much at all.

Definite departures for me are Shipperley, Pinault, Griffiths, Rhodes, Peters, Willock and Leary.

If they cost the same, I'd keep Abbey ahead of Nelson, plus either Masters or Brown.
Keith might be worth another season if he's cheap.
Lloyd might be worth a season if he'll take a major cut in pay.
Osborne probably cheap enough to keep; Charles possibly the same

i don't agree with some peoples opinions of Masters...................

The rest of the squad out of contract can just p!ss off and the ones still in contract should hold their heads in shame and tear them up in front of the fans at the last home game................................

A BIG clearout is what's needed but can you really trust Dyke and Dickens to appoint a manager ?......not on their track record this season. As for the players, I would only keep-

The last 2 are almost certain to leave so that leaves a very small squad.

Of the leavers - Leary / Richards are loan players - Shipps needs to go on celebrity fit club and Keith is a one gear plodder.

Nelson -plese leave ASAP
Frampton - not good enough
Pinault - Fitz clearly doesn't like him - maybe a new Manager will see his potential.
Heywood - not really seen him at his best
Brooker - needs to play for a football team -not a hoof ball team
Mousino - Ryman league

It's up to the manager, whoever that is, for next season. I would try and flog Frampton and O'Connor and try to reach a settlement with Brooker.

That would free up some £££ for forwards. Make no mistake, next season is going to be a real struggle, we need bottle and character and that is sadly lacking at present.

Thats a shame, I would have liked to have seen Abbey, Keith, Ide and Kuffour offered a contract for next season.

you answered your own question, 'earning good bucks', well those good bucks are soon going to end, then we will see where his loyalty lies. I personally would wish nothing more than a bit of payback, and show there is still some loyalty in football by saying I will give you another year as you stood by me with my injury last April, but I think we all know that loyalty went out of football many 'alfie' moons ago.

i can't believe at this early stage of his extremely promising career
we haven't got charlie ide under contract

regardless of who the hell the manager is,
this needs to be rectified

I agree with most of that although I'd ditch O'C, he's looking a real liability lately every time the ball comes near him. I'd also keep Nelson as he's a good 2nd choice but Christ only knows why he was played first choice on Sunday, Abbey's done a great job so far and to switch him out now when he looks so much more confident is utter stupidity.
I'd keep Shipperley as the player/coach person to assist the manager actually. He has a very sound tactical brain, if not quite the body to go with it.

As far as I can tell, the 'board' couldn't keep hold of our talented players even if someone else did all the work for them and they just had to put a X at the bottom of each page of the contracts.

He can get past players, but then doesn't know what to do and just makes some awful pass or falls over. If he just took the simple option (when there is one) he'd be a much better player

ironic how Kev, Framps and Tillen since signing the improved deals have been a bag of spanners.
