Well done Kent on reaching the last 8 of the 20/20. Good season down by the coast.

I've always followed Kent at cricket, so I hope they will progress further.


* This stems from, as a boy, spending all my Easter and summer school holidays near Herne Bay, where we had, variously, a bungalow and a caravan, so Canterbury was local and easy on the bus.

Such a struggle now for the likes of Kent with the 'Test Ground' counties getting all the money. Losing finalist in the 50 over game, last 8 in the T20 with a home tie to try and get to finals day and competing at the right end of CC Div 2. All in all a successful season so far.

Yes, a turning pitch at Canterbury against a team noted for their spinners. Groundsman still locked in his shed I'm hearing.

Yes a dismal batting display...Kent do tend to bottle the big games. Still it was a fun night under the lights - cricket, beer, friends and the last hints of summer. Focus on my footie now,,,come on you bees!

Some good players who England and others don’t seem to want inc Kuhn, Billings and Denly - key issue will be whether Matt Henry plays next year. Final game will be championship decider against Warwickshire

Really good season for Kent. Denly must be in the minds of the selectors for the test squad, particularly as he can open or bat at 3.

Good shout, definitely useful on the winter tours. Also he is a bit older than the rest of the candidates and might bring a bit of experience to the top order which I suspect we will be short on.

Yes I would definitely take Denly to Sri Lanka. Wouldn’t mind seeing him and Burns opening but think the selectors will stick with Jennings plus one other.

If Moeen is slotted back in at 7 or 8 then Denly could still be 3. I think you are right that they well go with Jennings and Burns.

Could do, depends on how the selectors see the make up of the side. Wouldn’t mind seeing a top 9 like:

Burns
Jennings
Denly
Root
Stokes
Bairstow
Buttler
Ali
Curran

Then depends as to whether the rumours are true that Broad and Anderson are being rested as to who the main two bowlers are. Would like us to take Leach as an option as well.

Yep...fabulous little player....Kent have done really well so far bearing in mind they look like missing two of their English batters for most of the summer. Great to see full houses at so many of the t20 provincial games as well. Sussex already a sell out v kent on Friday.

For as good as we were at the start of the T20, we've been awful at the end. Choked twice, against Surrey and tonight v Gloucestershire. If we blow a top 4 place we've only ourselves to blame. One must win game to go

The South group is amazingly tight. Feels like the best chance has gone.

Maybe this time! Great win against Essex today...are Kent the prototype for the bees?

Started off well in the T20 but still blew the game against Middlesex when chasing 210 and needing just 5 off the final over to win with 6 wickets in hand managed to just get a tie. Bit unlucky in the rained off game in which we were cruising until rain stopped play 5 balls before a result would have been declared as another victory.

As for the Bob Willis trophy, final round of matches starts today and have a remote chance of making the final but the defeat to Essex has probably cost us the place after we couldn't get their last 2 wickets out when favourites to win.

On top of that, a Kent player has started off his international career as a success for England. Well done Zak Crawley.

Strange how we look at things from different angles, because in the end I thought Middx should have won, with a better roll at the stumps from Simpson.

Don't get me wrong, Simpson could have won it for you in the end but when you've scored 205 in 19 overs at nearly 11 an over and you have wickets in hand, you have to fancy yourselves to get 5 in one over. A choke of almost Australian proportions
