Once again we have people making excuses for their actions.
My points, written earlier, were based on the knowledge that the first invasion was before the final whistle. Who knew what/if any consequences there could have been (or may still be).
Then we have the violence towards Brentford fans by Brentford fans, if that's acceptable then I'm a killjoy. The fact that many appear to condone this and making people like me not wanting to enjoy the day at fault is particularly galling.
I'm a long standing fan who's witnessed every promotion since the sixties, apart from Cambridge unfortunately. I fully accept that a pitch invasion was inevitable, although I couldn't have participated as I'm so old. It's the facts above that upset me, Brentford fans using their own actions as a stick to beat others.
I've read these threads over the last couple of days & realise that there are a number of GPGers who I would not want to meet, every direspect to them.
Those who put their own agendas before the safety & well-being of others sadden me, although I have to accept that they're entitled to their opinion, much as I am.

Going on to the pitch before the whistle was wrong.
Winding up Luton and the Old Bill (as very few did) was wrong.

But do I blame my 11 and 15 year old for wanting to run on to the pitch after the first Bees cup lifting they had ever seen? No, I don't - I was just happy that they wanted to be at GP, that they had their fun (and then vacated the pitch), and that they'll be all the more up for coming back next season.

It's Tuesday and I think we've done enough about pitch invasions for a while. There's a few - the idiot who jumped on Charlie and the thugs who actually assaulted Bees fans as part of their "celebration", for example, - that probably need to be pointed out if they turn up at GP again so that they can be reminded of the error of their ways. They have no respect for the OB or the BFC staff, so a good kicking behind the stand should make the point. Not that I'm condoning violence, I hope you understand, it's a communication issue.

I, for one, do not want to see another thread with "Luton" in the title, thank you. We've got bigger fish to fry.

We won the league, people ran on the pitch it happens and always has... Get over it. Anyone who didnt expect a pitch invasion at the final whistle is stupid, we have pitch invasions at the end of every season!:rolleyes:

If the club didn't want it they should have employed enough stewards to stop it... The stewards made no attempt to stop anyone as far I could see!The club should also install a tannoy system which people can hear when the ground is full.:sorted:

A lot of people need to take their heads from their arses on here and accept people are different and will celebrate in different ways.

The day is only being spoilt by people constantly bitching and moaning at any opportunity about this and that rather enjoying the moment.:sorted:

You're right regarding the FIRST one and the stewards/Tannoy...but a distinction must be made between that and the SECOND invasion. No reasonable person would have a major problem with the first one as eventually the pitch was cleared and people had their fun. The second was unforgivable and stuck two fingers up at a large number of Bees fans, the players and the club IMHO.

As already stated, I am presumably supporting the bad guys in this instance. I said to people in the pub before the game that a pitch invasion would happen. And it did.

It happened at Bury as well. And at Rotherham by Exeter fans.

And I dare say it also happened at grounds where nothing was at stake.

If the response to the events of Saturday is anything to go by, then the post-Euro 1996 consensus of cleansing the sport has been a success. I hope nobody choked on their prawn sandwiches while the pitch invasion was ongoing.

The way I saw it, the second invasion was ill-timed and futile. However, in communicating information to the fans, we have two relatively small displays in the corners of the ground, and a tannoy which is barely fit for purpose.

Meanwhile, for those who MUST insist on moaning about something - why not pop along to the Lionel Road thread. The future of the club is at stake, as the Lionel Road saga is set to go into its second decade. But sometimes it seems that attacking other bees fans is more fun for people, just because they are perhaps not as well educated in terms of social skills as we are. :(

I went on the pitch, have done it before and will do it again. It's tradition, get over it. We have got out of that sh*te league and can look forward to decent games / crowds next season.
Shame their were no migs to join us. :box:

That's just as inaccurate as the equally wrong portrayal of all those on the pitch being trouble-making chavs, there were many genuine fans on there too, a few of my mates among them.
There were just some of us who actually wanted to catch a glimpse of the trophy and players without the gay jumping all over them bit. Never mind, the Funday will do.

I suspect you will find there were many who were there in 1985, and who were there on Saturday, who believe that charging onto the field when the game is still in progress is, in fact, a fairly silly thing to do. Hopefully this time we will get away with it

The PA system in the middle of the Ealing Road terrace has been pants for the last couple of seasons, FACT!

There may have been enough stewards but they were so limp wristed they couldn't have fought their way out of a paper bag! They were unsure as to what their actual role was which seemed to be :wave: people onto the pitch rather than preventing them. :nono:

Perhaps we should get PG cloned. He seemed to be doing a better job on his own rather than the "official" stewards who were jut standing around. :idea:

Any pitch invasion that is purely to run at away fans and give it large is waanky IMO. Wasn't that what Reading was all about and what Barrow was to us? However the one v Newport was fine as they were Welsh and Scouse ***** and were well up for it but after all their gob they hid behind the police outside.

The part that says 'I hope nobody choked on their prawn sandwiches while the pitch invasion was going on'. Anyway, this is getting boring now. I can assure you I am not a Daily Mail-reading killjoy and arrived on the scene long before the Euro 96 watershed it seems fashionable to quote now when proving you're a 'real football fan'. And again, I have no problems with pitch invasions in general, only with the fact I had to wait until I got home and looked at Mark Fuller's pictures to see what actually happened. In truth, I'm probably more annoyed with the fact the presentation wasn't made with backs to the Brook Road so more than just a third of Bees fans could see it.
