Martin Allen, may gain some support from the supporters,
but the players that are here now, arnt his players, when he was successful, he went for players that bought into his way of doing things,
he was abit of a character, it was his way of managing... and the players he signed knew this when they signed
if the squad doenst want to play for Scott, like some poeple are suggesting, some may not buy into the way that Allen opperates
i would prefer someone with some tactical knowledge, until the end of the season,
sometimes people can come back to a club, and it doesnt work the second time...

When Allen took over, the players weren't 'his' players, but he turned it around and we stayed up.

What is this fixation with jump ship Martin Allen? He left the club because we could not satisfy his spending wishes. Sod him I say. His brand of football was hoof ball and do you remember who he replaced DJ Campbell wit? Callum Willock. No bloody thank you. If Scott does go (and I still think he's done wonders by taking us up) Gary Johnson or Phil Parkinson.

I am, sadly, in agreement with you.
But before we hang the board out to dry, we should consider why that's the case. The only thing I'd say is that Benham did not have the influence when Allen was here and will of course have a huge say this time.

Have you never left a job? He was more ambitious than us at that time, we couldn't match that ambition, he left. Big deal.
Compare where we were when Allen was in charge to where we are now. No comparison. And MA didn't have the free reign in the tranfer market that AS has enjoyed.
Right now we can't be picky, people suggesting Curbishley and Hughton need a reality check - we're 18th or 19th in L1 and they are Premier League managers.

The players we have now are not bad or they would not have won five away on the bounce. However, when you lose a game and the manager constantly berates the team they quickly become demotivated and frightened of making mistakes. I was fortunate to be in the dressing room when MA took us to Hartlepool and won. He was very motivational telling the players that they had to work for each other, there were no hiding places. He didn't want any panic playing, but like a panther you bide your time and then stike. I don't get the feeling that they are being motivated.

Ok they are Premiership pedigree managers. Hughton just won the Championship FFS! With the regular turnaround of Prem managers they may be out of work now, but won't have to wait long for another vacancy to come up. Plus they have enough money in the bank to wait for the role they want.
They need not jump at the chance to manage L2 bound Brentford.

Not a fixation Markybee. I think a lot of you forget the budget the club had during his tenure, I have heard differnt storys about the sale of DJ. Some like him , some do not, but then its about opinions and 80% of the posts are total bollox including mine. But I will tell you and all, this is 100% fact I am devastated, truly stunned. I just cannot comment on tonights result I am that stunned. and if I did, it would not do the rest of you any good, cos I'm sure we all feel the same.

I don't disagree as far as Chris Hughton goes but Curbishley has been out of management for that long I'm not sure he is as sought after by top clubs as you suggest. In fact, he has been out for too long I would say so much so that I think it would be a massive gamble even for us.

The difficulty of answering the question at the top of this thread is precisely the reason I had hoped a sacking before the end of the season could be avoided - tonight's result must force the board's hand but the situation is completey bloody awful to be honest. For want of any other obvious option (given the above) I would probably go with Les and appoint Forster for the short-term and do a proper search for a longer term replacement. But I can't say this option fills me with anything other than dread.

Yeovil - June 2001 to Sept 2005.
2001/2. Conference. Finished 3rd 66 goals.
2002/3. Conference. finished 1st 90 goals.
2003/4. League 2. Finished 8th 70 goals.
2004/5. League 2. finished 1st 90 goals.
Bristol City 26th Sept 2005 to 19th March 2010.
2005/6. League 1 Finished 9th 66 goals.

Allen until the end of the season has to be the sensible choice-excellent motivator, and what have both parties go to lose?
More well informed fans than me though will say it will never happen, so it probably wont.
All I know is that there are enough out of work quality managers to avoid us having to appoint another muppet. Wouldnt put it past us however...
