Manager Position

I can't see how we can possibly appoint MA just to the end of the season. We will look complete mugs if we appoint him, he keeps us up (which I think is a much easier job than last time) and we then get rid of him. If MA is appointed it will be long term - I just think that's a big call without considering anyone else.

We wouldn't have to get rid of him Les

This is probably the most sensible and realistic post on this thread, however desperate times sometimes need desperate measures and there is massive support for MA to return. He knows the club, the supporters and probably most of the players too as he is often at GP.
Why not to the end of the season ? this will give the board time to decide if he is the right man or not for the longer term.

It has been suggested on here few times that we appoint him until the end of the season and then take another look. I don't see how that can be possible unless he fails. I'm just saying that appointing Allen now is likely to be a long term appointment and I'd hate to give any manager that chance without proper consideration.

Manager Position

I have to saythough - I'm trying to be sensible and rational but **** it, it would be a bit of a giggle with Allen back wouldn't it? I wouldn't go all wayfarer, put it that way. We'd be on SSN again and all sorts ..... would he move the dugouts back and restore the Feng Shui to Griffin Park?

Manager Position

I'm not sure MA would want to come back into football management FT as he has several business interests set up now but if the club went to him and said "we're in the C*** come back until the end of season keep us up and get us to Wembley" he'd take that and probably do it! Then we look at taking the best possible manager for next season - Keith Hill from Rochdale? he could bring Gary Jones with him as well to sort out of midfield

That said, I've felt for a long time that Nicky Forster will make a brilliant manager and why not with us?

Manager Position

I wouldn't worry about MA not wanting to come back ......

Great post . MA would restore HAPPINESS to GP and there ain't much of that around at the moment.

Manager Position

You can't appoint anyone until the end of the season. Players need to be looked at, the manager needs to decide whom to keep on and whom to let go. Plans have to be made for pre-season. Players need to be brought in during the closed season.

We need to follow the gold standard here. Appoint a caretaker manager (optional) then appoint a permanent manager.

No to temporary managers that the players know is leaving.

Manager Position

Bring back the pride, bring Martin home.

I think that the clamour for Martin has become stronger the more that the Scott situation has dragged on. Scott has dug a bunker and isolated himself from the supporters. It's inevitable that those same supporters will hark back to the days when the BFC manager was accessible and engaging.

I'm not sure if Martin is the best person for the job. However I do believe that we'd be hard pressed to get much better that him (Coppell and Hughton perhaps?) and we can easily get a lot worse than him. Sometimes you're better with the devil you know.

As for the board supporting the return of Martin, there are some strong supporters and there are some strongly against it. Well, that's my understanding anyway.

Manager Position

I would sooner reward Andy Scott with a new long term contract than have Dennis Wise at the helm. He could start an argument in an empty room. Absolutely no way. I think Scotts position is untenable after last nights result and i would love to see Steve Coppell return but dont think he will be tempted. I like the idea of Andy Sinton very much. He has served his apprenticeship in non league and loves the club. I would also be very pleased to see Gary Johnson get the job. I have recently read Ian Holloways book and during his time out of the game he saw as many matches as possible and decided that when he got another job he would play as much as possible on the deck and Blackpools play off success last season was incredible and richly deserved. The idea of MA appeals but the football was very direct and although i think he would come back in a heartbeat someone has already alluded to the fact that he may still have enemies at the club. There is not a shred of doubt that he would completely galvanise the club and his energy and passion alone would lift the place and add a thousand or two to the gate. I dont doubt either that there would be many very good applicants for the job. But there needs to be a job available first and i would like to thank Andy scott for everything he has done for the club. We have reached the point of no return and decisive action needs to be taken to give the new incumbant a chance. At the moment there is only one outcome to our season. I think the influx of Mr Benhams money has caused its own problems for Scott and ultimately he has blown the best chance any bees manager has had at this level. The fact that we are staring at the abyss is nothing short of a disgrace and urgently needs addressing. I hope very much the process starts today.

Manager Position

If MA is to get the job at GP in the near future i want the board to instill in his contract that if you talk to another club then you walk.2 year deal at most.My choice took the Aldershot job.

Manager Position

You can't appoint anyone until the end of the season.

Ordinarily I'd agree 100%, but the MA situation does at least give an option: offer him (or indeed Coppell) the job till the end of the season, to be reviewed first week of May. Be completely open about it and if he doesn't want to do it, that's his choice. Gives both sides the chance to see if it's working. If it works great, if not then new man in for the start of the summer merry-go-round. Feel good restored at GP, which frankly is the only thing that matters as getting a point a game with the current squad shouldn't be beyond the wit of any half-decent manager. Re. your point about players and caretakers, I don't think either of those two would take any nonsense from the players.

Manager Position

Presumably the vast majority of posters on the GPG are long term dedicated Bees supporters who have only the best interests of the club at heart and are mature enough to realise the errors of knee jerk reaction
Could someone now put a poll on the GPG (Sorry i don't know how to do it ) asking but one question >Martin Allen in now Yes or No

Manager Position

Why do people keep mentioning Coppell? He is retired, and if he didn't take the Palace job he certainly wouldn't come to us.

MA is available for jobs................from the horses mouth, so he isn't out of the question. I can see the appeal, at least he will engage with the fans and pull things round I am sure. Long term Gary Johnson would be a good option I feel. Has a good record at this level.

Manager Position

Key ability will be that to make best use of existing resources as the most anyone can bring in would be 1 or 2 loanees.

Mixed feelings about the thought of Allen returning. Gary Johnson would be a good option, or Paul Buckle. I think it has to be someone with management experience... or we could just select the team by a vote on the GPG with a lucky dip to choose the person to lead the team on the day:fishing:

If Johnson is good enough long term, why now appoint him now?

Manager Position

Would love to see Coppell here but if not, Johnson would be my long term view appointed immediately.

That's the way I see it going here. Although MA is my choice the board may feel there's no point in putting him in short term. Johnson could find employment elsewhere in the meantime

If AS goes then please let him take Bullivant with him. Never seen this guy contribute anything even when he played for us.

totally agree, do not want bullivant. Look what happened last time we gave butchers assistant the job, he is still here and now has taken us backward. I still believe who ever got the job after butcher would have took us to promotion with the backing AS got.

Manager Position

the following is true:
i went to bed not knowing the score (although i had a pretty good prediction in my head).

for some reason, i woke up remembering a dream where i was at an amusement park and BOB BOOKER walked past.

so, what does that mean?

more consciously, martin allen would make it interesting again, and to be fair, i doubt the manager who will win us the Champions League probably isn't out there. i wouldn't be against him returning.

i'd also be happy with...
terry brown, dean holdsworth (why is aldershot a barrier compared to newport?), inglethorpe, and even dowie.

i'd be unhappy with...
wise, bassett!, scott (time's up).

Could he not be appointed as Caretaker Manager (as some has to be appointed in the position) rather than saying till the end of the season, then he can apply just like anyone else if he so wishes!

Manager Position

I was really expecting some kind of chant at Daggers last night to bring back MA. Not only didn't that happen but I was surprised to hear negative views about his possible return from all around me.

I wouldn't mind though.

Manager Position

Is Ray Lewington available? With the squad we have the potential to play much better football. He also knows Bulivant well and maybe ease any upheaval a bit. Same would go with Coppell although I doubt he would return.
For some blood and thunder then MA would be achoice, but his record without Whitbread by his side is my worry.

He could but the board are in a massively difficult position if they want to replace him, given his support. No - I think if Allen is appointed then he will become the manager long term.

Where is Whitbread now?

I've switched to the Scott Out camp, but I don't see how you can claim we have gone backwards overall since Scott took over. We're a division higher, sliding down Lge One instead of down Lge 2, but still in a much better position than 3 years ago

Manager Position

Everyone needs a lift-plyers and fans and there's only one person who can give that short term fix-MA. Contract to end of season to save us from relegation and then review.

Manager Position

Martin Ling is recently out of work - Has experience of our level (And the conference)...

I'd like to see us go for Inglethorpe- remeber him being very good back at Leatherhead years ago,

Could see Curbishley wanting to rehabilitate his reputation somewhere and we'd be a good a place as any and not too far for him.

Oh and there's always an Argentine who's out of work - He would get people back to GP.

Manager Position

Let's hope the JPT adventures are not keeping Scott in his job, even if by some miracle we did win at Exeter,we would still be very much league 2 bound by the time the Wembley final came along.......Ipswich didn't let the fact that they were only a semi final away from Wembley in the Carling Cup stop them getting rid of Keane........

Manager Position

What is this fixation with jump ship Martin Allen? He left the club because we could not satisfy his spending wishes. Sod him I say. His brand of football was hoof ball and do you remember who he replaced DJ Campbell wit? Callum Willock. No bloody thank you. If Scott does go (and I still think he's done wonders by taking us up) Gary Johnson or Phil Parkinson.

Spot on with that one, that just about sums him up, and why on earth should we take a loser like MA back, we need to go forward not take a backward step, good shout with Gary Johnson & Phil Parkinson, you could also add Alex Inglethorpe to that mix as well.

If AS does goes, lets at least give him credit for taking us up as Champions.

Loser like Ma
credit to AS

jeez, AS never got near anything MA achieved for us !!

Neither did he ever have the funds AS has had
Football under MA may not have been to everyones liking but at least we were at the right end of the table.

Manager Position

Unless Benham personally calls for him, there is no way Martin Allen will be invited back, and lovely as the results were, the football was not great.

I was rooting for Deano several months back, but we missed the bus with that one.

We need a proper football brain, someone the players can feel understands the game and them as players, and who will get us playing some decent, goal-scoring footie.

Gary Johnson and Keith Hill are both good shouts.

Manager Position

I reckon Peter Taylor is about to be out of a job.
Not that I want him here.

Manager Position

these threads are pointless until he is gone which seems unlikely.players also need to be held accountable for playing like ****s

Manager Position

Stave Coppell pretty please.Matthew, kind sir, please please please make it happen.

Manager Position

First choice would be coppell. If he isn't availible I'd like to see Allen, Sousa, Johnson, inglethorpe and curbishley (long shot) interviewed.
