Chris Powell appointed Huddersfield Town manager. Good appointment I think as he will stabilise performances (particularly at the back) and he seems to prefer no-nonsense football which goes down well up here.

So Blackpool have approached Burton for permission to speak to Gary Rowett despite Jose Riga still being in charge.

Would be better for Russell if he parted company "by mutual consent" sooner rather than. After what he's achieved with Orient, his stock will be quite high. Plus he can look for a job nearer home as his family are based in Yorkshire. Despite his FA Cup celebrations comment made straight after losing a vital match, he's actually a really nice bloke :yes:

Unfortunately there aren't enough of them - only 1,238 for the visit of Wimbledon yesterday.
Looks to be a bit of a struggle regardless of who's in charge. Am open to correction, but I get the impression that like eg Macclesfield, the Football League may be just a step too far for Stanley to compete permanently. Dagenham may be another, though they've been doing OK in recent seasons.

At times Pardew seems to do OK, but I suspect that this only stokes his ego further, which then pisses off those round him, especially the players. Which is why progress is never sustained. Bit like Souness?

That would probably only work if the Owner is prepared to be decent and agree a proper pay-off. If not, then Slade might just have to stick it out until he gets sacked, to protect his interests.
I have a mate who lives in the same block of flats at Orient's ground as where Slade has his club flat (same floor, I think).
He speaks to him occasionally and would definitely agree about him being a nice guy.

Not quite. Orient have 7 points from 7 League games this season, inc two defeats. After the first 7 games of last season, Bees had 12 points/one defeat.
But I take your general point, sacking Slade this early doesn't make any sense at all.

Slade's job was always going to be tough this season. Bristol City were always likely to be strong, Peterborough are always going to be a force in that League and Fletwood also seem to have decent backing to be the surprise package.
You also have sides like Preston and Sheffield United who have the backing to be top 6 too.
He has also lost a very strong and valuable relationship when Hearn decided to cash in his chips. Orient have struggled at certain points under his reign yet Hearn kept faith when most may have got rid. I imagine his position changed pretty instaneously and he wouldn't be afforded the same loyalties under the Italian chap.

One thing that caught my eye was the suggestion that the attacking football he promised has failed to deliver with only 8 goals in the league. We are rightly praising the adventurous brand of football that the team trying to deliver but we have 9 goals in the same number of games

Exeter haven't got a pot to piss in. They only just managed to pony up a squad on the opening day of the season. I salute Tisdale's loyalty, but he's another one who should have bailed out soon after Exeter peaked, while his stock was still high.
I don't hold that comment against him. He knew the result was a knock-out punch and he was bitterly disappointed. Mark Warburton and Slade were on Goals on Sunday together a couple of weeks back and I assume there are no ill feelings.
