Managerial Changes 2014/15

Alan Devonshire rumoured to be leaving Braintree at the end of the season.
Is this linked to the forthcoming vacancy at Brentford FC ?

More likely West Ham :looks::rolleyes:;) Brentford will get big Sam rofl

Managerial Changes 2014/15

A few days ago a rather far-fetched sounding rumour about your man Warburton buying Oldham surfaced.

I dismissed it as nonsense. Wealthy southerners rarely move north to invest.

Then we get Rosler in the director's box on Saturday. In fairness he's attended a lot of other League One games recently.

Now I've heard from a player's agent that some sort of Warburton / Rosler owner / manager link up is genuinely on the cards.

It still seems very unlikely to me. But hey, I'm intrigued.
Agree with Rodbee and Bill Benn that it's unlikely.

But I suppose it is just possible that MW has been "bruised" by his fall out with MB and has decided he doesn't want to be beholden to Chairman/Owner.

In which case, he might just have the contacts in the City etc to back him in taking over a club like Oldham.

As for Rosler, it could just be coincidence that he was there on Saturday.

Or just maybe MW asked him to go on a "scouting" mission for him i.e. without necessarily seeing him as his Manager?

We all know Mr. Benham is capable of taking us all by surprise, but maybe we shouldn't underestimate Warbs' ability to do the unexpected?

Alternatively, it could all just be a load of old pony...lol

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Brian McDermott is back living in Bourne End (spotted my in-laws at Costa's there). He's now a scout for Arsenal apparently. Always had time for him.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

As we know MB does not do what is expected so I reckon Villa-Boas could be on his way to take up a role in our new structure. But he would have to be more pro-active towards young players than he was at Tottenham and Chelsea. Just the sort of challenge MB welcomes.

Great fun speculating.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Earlier this week The Sun described Warburton going to Newcastle as "the worst kept secret in football" -

Are you or were you ever a politician?

He hasn't got a foreign sounding name and reckon that's what we're getting?

Leopards and spots springs to mind

McDermott seems a good shout for some reason.

Wasn't he a scout prior to managing Reading?

Brian McDermott spotted your in-laws in Costa? Is he moonlighting as a private dick?
Or you spotted your in-laws in Costa? They have an asbo banning them from coffee shops?

Micky Adams leaves Tranmere

In the lurch and on the brink..... Another established club who will be playing non league season . I hope they do not do a Stockport , Darlington or Hereford .

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Can see Rodgers leaving at end of season, it's not going as well as it might on and off the pitch.

I still think he's a good manager but there's an argument that Suarez last season made him look much better than he is.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

I could see him at Hayes & Yeading with a new ground!

Speaking to someone today who seems connected at his old club Hampton and Richmond Borough and they reckon Colchester United . Does seem a bit odd as he does not drive however he has only ever moved on for a a higher level. Will be interesting to see where he ends up. He has a lot to offer in my opinion that is for sure. A really good manager that gets full respect from every player and really develops them. What he has achieved at Hampton and Braintree on small budgets has been nothing short of a miracle.

That's a good call.

Think Portsmouth may be to big a club for him, and he doesn't appear in the betting for their new manager.

Thought that was Mclaren they said ?

I'm very pro Alan Devonshire and agree he's done a good job, but should also point out it wasn't him who got Braintree into the Conference.
As for not driving, I'm sure I remember the Big Match or On The Ball mid-70s doing a piece on Devonshire having been a fork lift driver before turning pro.

No he did not get them in to the Conference however simply keeping them there on one of the smallest budgets in the division being part time is a fine achievement in my book. The name Dean Wells ring a bell ? Currently in the form of his life for Stevenage and as many bees know a class act. Dev has mentored and supported the bloke since the Hampton days and has played a huge part in Dean's success .
He does not drive and that is concrete. Not sure sure he would have fancied getting on the M25 to Braintree on a Fork Lift for much longer anyway lol

I'm sure Dean Wells was his driver, when they were both at Braintree.

BTW, when Andy Scott was fired, I advocated Alan Devonshire as a replacement, which was broadly dismissed on this message board.
Where does he live now? He really should be managing a league side next season.

Heroic stuff from Millwall. Should mean Neil Harris will be offered a permanent deal.

Six weeks back, there was media chat that Newcastle or Sunderland would offer McClaren their manger's job once the season ended. Might want to think again now.

Butcher to Newport County

Some papers saying he is favourite for the job at Newport.

That's Newport back to the Conference then.

madness.

Managerial Changes 2014/15

Mr Motivator back in L2. I'm sure he'll be able to tempt the next Thorpe and Mackie to Nooport.

They were more assistant manager Scott connections that he went along with.

How does Butcher keep getting jobs? He was on talk sport last night reminiscing (very briefly) about his time with us, saying how he had to move further and further onto the pitch during his walk to the dugout due to the abuse he was getting increasing by the week!

By the time he left, it felt like there was only about 1 man and his dog left who could be bothered to abuse him, he'd sucked the life out of us so much.
