Managerial Changes Thread 2017 / 2018

i thought Derby were going to be run on a bit tighter budget going forward though, which might negate the amount of Chelsea loanees (with Chelsea charging a fee). mind you, Man Utd (Mourinho connection) and Man City might help too (though i guess they would charge fees too).

let's hope (for Derby's sake) that Harry's not given Frank too much "guidance" on how to make a bit extra from being a football manager....

Dean Smith the bookies favourite to take over...

Let me be the first to say that he'd be a fool to take it and I can't see him being interested in Real Madrid anyway.

Why would he want to move to a smaller club?:)

David Hopkin gone from newly promoted Livingston.

On his way to Shrewsbury apparently

Still don't see why such a love in with Silva. Started well last few jobs before mediocrity at best sets in. If he keeps up his recent win ratio Everton could be bottom 3.

Big club Leeds sack Heckingbottom.

Not long to wait before Dean Smiths top of betting for the job?

Shrewsbury appoint Macclesfield manager Askey.

Not surprised. Only won four games IIRC since he took over out of how many? 16/18? Drew quite a few though.....

It's rumoured that Leeds would decide whether to keep him or not only on the basis of if they could bring in a manager of a certain calibre (in their eyes) in to replace him. Had they failed to convince one, then they'd have kept him. They clearly have someone lined up.

I don't think this is one that will trouble the 'Dean Smith linked' brigade, they just went the route of 'manager who has done well at a smaller club on a budget', they'll be going for a CV name this time.

Marcelo Bielsa according to Sky.

Actually wouldn't mind Hecky here if Smith went.

Wonder if pride can be swallowed and Heckingbottom returns to Barnsley?

I highly doubt it, maybe if he went somewhere outsise Yorkshire or if they didn't get relegated , you never know though

Joke of a club
Agree entirely.

But Heckinbottom must be a bit thick, too.

I mean, new owners at Barnsley, the possibility of a few quid to spend, they're happy to give him a nice new contract (when they might easily have put their own man in) and a week later he joins Leeds.

Where he was to be their 8th(?) manager in four years, with a new one at the start of every* season in between.

And you can be pretty sure that a club with a sacking record like that won't have been caught out by agreeing a contract which guarantees PH a big payout, either.

In the circumstances, I have little sympathy for him.

* - 2018/19 will be the 5th consecutive season LUFC have started with a different guy to the one who started the previous one

Guardiola and Pochettino both say he's the best coach in the game.

Everyone else says he's also the biggest headcase* in the game.

So the perfect match for Leeds on one count, at least. :sorted:

* - I'm pretty sure he didn't get the nickname "El Loco" for being a train buff ;)
