Aberdeen and Sunderland have reached an agreement over compensation for manager Derek McInnes.

The English Championship club can now begin negotiations with McInnes over their vacant managerial position..

Did they get a reference for him from Bristol City?

Leeds appoint Thomas Christiansen. (Sky Sources)

From Wikipedia lol

Thomas Christiansen Tarín (born 11 March 1973) is a retired footballer who played as a striker, and current coach of Leeds United. He was appointed after everyone else turned down the job, and his name was successfully drawn out of a hat by chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

Now been amended slightly to say that he was appointed because he was cheap and could work with a DoF

Surprised Eddie Howe not in the frame for Southampton job as he would seem to fit in many ways. Guess he is too British.

Southampton are to Bournemouth what Fulham are to us, they wouldn't bother cause he'd be unlikely to even pick up the phone.

Sunderland still looking for a new manager as McInnes is staying at Aberdeen, doesn't say much for North East side, would be surprising if they followed Newcastle and go straight back up.

Considering they have at least £120m to play with they should be right up there

As of the end of season 2015/16, their debt stood at £110m (they lost £33m that season alone):
https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/2017/5/5/15555636/sunderlands-finances-at-a-glance
And they're liable to have added to the debt last season

For in the season just ended, they had the 10th highest wage bill in the Premier League, at £68.3m:

Of course, if they loaded the players' contracts so that they were dependant upon staying in the Prem, then that would help.

But to have done so would require them to be a well-managed club.

And "well-managed" and "Sunderland" aren't terms which customarily go together...

Perhaps clubs outside of Scotland wishing to appoint him would be better off making their first phone call to his wife rather than his agent

Shouldn't this be a new thread for the 2017/18 season?

Looks like Leicester are really going for it this year (Relegation that is)

Michael Appleton was always considered to be a very good coach who struggled to make it into management.
