"Nottingham Forest’s ambitious owner Evangelos Marinakis is aiming for the Premier League and is seriously considering sacking manager Aitor Karanka after a run of four games without victory"

That's what you call a trigger-happy club!!

Well they did win the European Cup 350 years ago. Or was it 300 years ago?:)

Oldham friend suggests this is madness and a knee jerk to the 0-6 at Carlisle on Boxing Day.

John Still steps down at Barnet........................I am sure we can guess the rest. A 6th spell?

Steve Bruce expected to be announced as the next Sheffield Wednesday manager.

Only the second person to manage both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wed.

So how many clubs has this failure now managed ??

Hes got a good record of getting teams promoted from the Championship, Birmingham and Hull twice each, which also means he's been relegated with them both too.

Managerial Thread 2018 / 2019

Looks as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be Man U manager to the end of the season.

Now that is a great turn around. Takes a team on low moral and turns it around very quickly with 4 wins in 4. Shame we couldn't manage the same.

It would be easier if we had Paul pogba lol

Does it or did he leave both clubs to go elsewhere before their relegations?
He also kept a poor Sunderland team in premier league and did reasonable job at Palace before jumping ship to Birmingham. There are definitely less succeful experienced managers about.

low on moral or pig sick of the manager and started mailing in their match day performance?

Managerial Thread 2018 / 2019

More impressed with the turnaround at Southampton than man utd. 4 relatively simple fixtures for man utd, but hassenhuttl has had some really tough games and come in and turned them right around

Managerial Thread 2018 / 2019

Man U have played much better, but you'd expect that from a team who were very heavily shackled and then told to go and express themselves. Results will follow, however from what I saw yesterday they didn't look amazing. Took their goals but didn't really dominate play, and were fortunate that Newcastle weren't very good. Better teams would have caused a lot more problems.

Southampton have done very well, the manager has a very impressive track record from his previous jobs, and the start he's made has been about as good as anyone could have hoped for.

They've been *****, changed their manager and their results picked up to the point that Solskjaer (not hugely experienced in top flight football) is only the second manager in their history to pick up 4 wins in their first 4 games since taking charge.

They have won 2 lost 2 and drawn 1 in his charge and are still in bottom three, although a win against Arsenal and draw against Chelsea is impressive. Still a way to go though.

Those two losses were against Man city and West ham who had just found abit of form aswell. As you say still a way to go but I think theyll survive relatively comfortably

John Sheridan has resigned from Carlisle, to take over at managerless Oldham.

No, wait.

I've now read it four times, and it's not Oldham, it's managerless Chesterfield!

Couldn't think why until I read this bit:
"Chesterfield are in the National League drop zone, but Sheridan will replace Martin Allen to become the highest-paid boss across the fourth and fifth tiers. He is likely to sign until 2022 after Saturday's game against Ebbsfleet."

"Peterborough boss Steve Bans is the only manager to receive a touchline ban so far this season."

According to the BBC Steve Bans is in charge of Peterborough now.

I would recommend his book.
Only the one chapter on his time with Brentford, but the rest is also a very good read.

I really hope not, can't they hang on? Mind you, a lot of their fans think he's a dead man walking, along with just about all their players that need to be off-loaded, so their concern is how they get a whole new team in place for their new manager!!

I think he deserves one more game. lol Beware, though, with his back to the wall, the fella's default position is to park a couple of buses in front of the goal and apply hand break and wheel clamps. This match will not be fun if he's still there.

Rowett out. New man in visitor’s dug out Saturday.

One of the most overrated managers in the top two divisions.

Managerial Thread 2018 / 2019

Just our luck. He was toxic though. I listened to his post match on radio and it was clear his time was coming to an end. Shame it wasn’t after our game.

I think he'll find it tough now as has gone from a relatively successful manager at Burton and then Brum who made the most of limited resources to a dinosaur who seems to pack his teams with big, strong but past it players, serving up hoofball that ambitious bigger clubs seem determined to move away from? I think he will be limited to plying his trade in League 1 and below moving forward not unlike MA.

Agree though I can't help but think there could one more desperation Championship appointment left for him. Perhaps Wigan if they drop further and panic...

Rowett will find another job easily enough, he has a good CV still with decent track records at Burton, Birmingham and he did take Derby to the play offs (even if he tried to 0-0 against Fulham which was naive...). Stoke has gone badly but he'll be taken up by someone in the Championship still. It's not the style of football I'd want near my club but his record is still good enough to attract others.

As for the game on Sat...it may open up the game which could suit us. Rowett putting 10 men behind the ball may not have worked in our favour, especially as confidence still isn't 100% so we may have run out of ideas earlier on. An more open game could suit us.

Alternatively as a Pulis favourite he could decide that an aerial bombardment and hoofball is the way to gain quick wins and points in which case very pleased we are playing with 3 centre backs at the moment.
