At least we are not the only team he.was rubbish for and will be dropped for next Holland game.
Also a lot of Freiburg fans surprised he got a premiership move and doubt he will make it in the premier league.
Say he is error prone and don't dominate his box.

Thanks for supporting our no.1 goalkeeper.

FFS. Give it a rest.

I would wager a fair amount of money that very similar things were being said about Button early doors with us and Bentley during his season of horrors (“he’ll come good” / “he’s not good enough”.)

In the case of Button, he did improve a lot in the eyes of most, sadly in the case of Bentley the errors kept coming.

MF could have made a more convincing start for sure. However, he would not be the first goalkeeper we have had to begin badly and then become a fan favourite (Lee, Benstead to name a couple). Equally, I have also seen things in his game that worry me (ineffective punching and lack of domination of his area).

Whatever is written on here, the most important thing is that the fans get behind him every game. One way or the other, the next few weeks will be a big test of his character.

It’s been said before it’s all about opinions. It’s a discussion forum and presumably that’s the point .
Personally I don’t see that, for example, my views are going to be in any way detrimental to Flekken’s confidence or that in the extremely unlikely event that he read them he would consider that I was n any way qualified to judge him.
Neither do I think that it’s being disloyal to the club to criticise his performances to date. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that to a young player like KLP say but frankly a 30 year old six and a half foot keeper who probably earning more in a week than many make in a year shouldn’t be beyond criticism. As I said it’s all about opinions and we should be able to have a sensible discussion without having our support questioned.
I await the next deluge of ?s from the RTB.
You’re right about opinions, everyone has one , and people don’t always agree. I’d be lying if I said Flekken hasn’t made any mistakes, but it’s the people that constantly say that he’s sh!t like they want it to be true that grate.
I’m curious as to why you would feel uncomfortable criticising a 21 year old who earns more in a week than most people do in a year, but are perfectly ok criticising a 30 year old who earns more in a week than most people do in a year?
Surely, if either makes mistakes they’re in for the same amount of criticism.

"A lot of Freiburg fans" were saying this - where? Were there any other opinions offered on his five years there?
They're not in the link you provided. Do they go to another school?

One’s just starting his career as far as this level goes. He’s going to have good games and probably some bloody awful ones. The other has been playing in the top German league, capped for his country and as far as I’m concerned, which as I made a point of saying is only my opinion whilst respecting others who think he’s fine, had cost us an unacceptable number of points with errors that a keeper of his experience shouldn’t be making. I do however support the club and whoever happens to play for them and will happily cheer him on when he makes a series of world class saves and makes me look a bloody fool!

You misunderstood the point of the post. Its objective is to deliberately bait Brentford fans.

They come on here and say Player X is absolutely useless and has no future with Brentford. Regardless of facts.

The actual target is to get a reaction from fans to say something like ‘why do you bother? Why can’t you get behind the team?’.

They can then revert with their standard sh*t like ‘isn’t this a football message board? Aren’t I allowed an opinion? You rose tinted brigade lot are idiots’.

It validates them. It makes them feel special. They can then gaslight fans with the idea that slagging off the team makes them a victim, bizarrely. That they are denied a voice, whilst actually continually spraying their excrement across GPG threads unchecked. Challenge them, and it’s *you* who’s in the wrong.

Very strange behaviour tbh.

How is his age, his height or his salary in any way relevant? We are "supporters" of Brentford Football Club. That's all of it. From the tea lady to Matthew Benham and everyone in between. It's pretty basic stuff really, we show support and the club rewards us with, currently, the best 3 years of football most of us have ever seen at this little club. We could go back over that period and dig up all of the mistakes that any player or I'm sure if we look hard enough, even the management team have made. But I can't fathom what the point is of focussing on those errors? All it does it fester and grow within the fanbase as more negative minded fans go along with your crap view.

On the other hand you could find something positive to say and guess what, others might agree, that might breed some positivity that then filters through to the fans on the terraces and lo and behold, suddenly the mistakes aren't happening and we're pushing for a European place again. That's how this stuff works.

If any player makes a mistake in the next game, maybe because he's heard the moans and groans from the terraces, then in some very small way, you're responsible for that mistake. Just bear that in mind.

I’d never judge a player after seven competitive appearances - it’s actually a bit unhinged to do so. If there are still goal keeping issues in December then I’ll happily admit to being wrong though.

I’ve plenty of positive things to say about the team and club, management if you care to look at my history. Unlike some I’m not on player’s backs and if I do yell at a game then it’s either in support or against the other team or officials.
I’m no more responsible for a poor performance than you are or any other bod who watches the game. I’m sure you can remember many occasions in the past when people on here have rightly or wrongly slagged players off. I take it that you’re not one of them as you are obviously someone who never ever voices and has never ever done so either on here or at a game.
I do have a particular issue with our keeper. I don’t vocalise it when watching unless perhaps in a conversation with the bloke next to me. I’m assuming that when Bryan misses a sitter that you don’t issue a groan and that support is 100% positive throughout the game cos if it’s not then you really wouldn’t have the balls to come on here making accusations about me. So just bear this in mind at whatever game you next go to. No negativity whatsoever is allowed, for whatever reason and make sure that you tell anyone around you to shut the **** up if they have the temerity to utter a word of doubt or criticism. Have a nice day.

Think you've missed the point slightly mate. It's human nature to groan if a player misses a sitter, or hold your head in disbelief or whatever. But then you applaud them for the effort and go back to offering your full support. What I don't do, will never do and don't understand others doing, is spreading negative feelings about the team to their fellow supporters. If you could give me just one example of how doing so would benefit our club then I'll accept your opinion, in fact if it's beneficial to the club I may even try it. But I 100% guarantee you that there is no valid argument for any negative comments being made about our players. It doesn't help anyone barring maybe you as you get to vent. Perhaps just try kicking the cat instead though!

Unfortunately our moggie ?‍⬛ died a long time ago. Never kicked her and leave my disappointments behind at the ground the minute I leave. Not having the ok to groan etc comments or holding your head in disbelief. Your post suggested that any negativity had an adverse effect.
So once again I have to ask you if in the 15 years of being on the gpg or for whatever time you have been watching the club that I have loved for 68 years, you have ever made a post with a negative comment about one of our players or managers ( including the likes of Webb and Noades) or voice that opinion at a game. You state unequivocally that this is detrimental to the team that you are watching.
If that isn’t the case I suggest that you are a strong candidate for sainthood, if it is however then you have got a bloody nerve criticising me.

Correct. But I think this thread has made me realise something. When I started supporting Brentford as a 14 year old kid it was straight after a massive win in the FA Cup for us. The opposition were non league but that didn't matter to me as we still looked like world beaters and I truly believed that my club would be able to compete with anyone. It's taken a lot of years to get there but now we are. The problem is that I think some Bees fans preferred it telling their mates that they supported Brentford as no one knew who we were and they loved the siege mentality and the fact they could always get into games, and they could then sit there and complain about how sh*t we were to their mates when we were losing. I never understood those people, I even fell out with a guy that many on here will know (ironically he was also from Staines) for his constant negativity. I think the people now complaining about Mark Flekken, or Matty Jensen before him and a host of others are really just missing those days where they got to moan and complain and are using Mark Flekken as their latest scapegoat to hold on to the "good old days".

I'm probably wasting my breath but try having a positive outlook on life. Your life will be better for it.

Button didn't cost 13 million wasn't an international for the Netherlands and we were not looking for a Premier League Keeper. Button did a good just for us in League 1. Let's hope Flekken does but at the moment he looks way off being the answer. Maybe our coaches will be able to work their magic on him.

Don't forget the warm up games, he looked dodgy in those. It will take a long time for our coaches to get him so he commands his area. May take longer than December. At 6 foot 5 commanding his area shouldn't be an issue. I played in goal for 30 plus years. I was a good shot stopper and also good off my line but I was dodgy on crosses but I'm only 5 foot 11.

Difficult to pick keepers.

Our former goalkeeper coach moved to Arsenal and recommended Runnarson whom he knew and had worked with. Nice guy but was simply not good enough for the PL and has been shunted out on loans for several seasons.

There isn’t one. It’s a f*cking appalling post quite honestly.

[Read in a David Attenborough voice]

We have certain methods of communicating our feelings and emotions and one of them is to throw objects.

Like some humans, when chimps want attention they may stand up and wave their arms around to attract engagement.

They sometimes feel the need to throw objects too. This release of emotions and energy is very similar to how we act as humans when we just need to let it all out.

Throwing objects such as their own excrement is a natural way of reacting when chimpanzees seek interaction and want to be the centre of attention. Here, on the dusty plains of the GPG, we may witness a minority of posters engaging in similar, albeit electronic, behaviour.

It's good to be positive but being condescending is annoying. I've followed Brentford, like a lot of people on here, for what feels like an eternity and I don't recognize the fans you describe. I' m not surprised Burford Bee is a tad irritated.

Flekken is miles ahead of him.
This is a really good point. Onana cost £50m and seems to be struggling to adapt to the Premier League like Flekken. I imagine most non-Man Utd fans still probably think of Onana as a top keeper that will come good.

Maybe it takes a bit of time to get used to the style and pace of the Premier League?

No i wont shut up im entitled to a opinion and no need for that type of abuse. If someone is poor i will have a say when it is costing my team points every week. And our defenders are having ago at him when he doesn't come off his line and claim crosses.
Its always the same crap out of your mouth though, negative, attacking players, where are you when we do well?
I am just fed up of certain people never having anything positive to ever say, as i said to somebody before, if you think the club and players are that bad, it must be horrible having to be a supporter, so i dont know why you bother.
You are entitled to your opinion, as am i - my opinion is that yours are usually worthless.
I think i need to take a break from here for my mental health.
