I called it average and then a load of sensitive old people started getting upset
At least read the room mate.
We lose.
You persistently go on with a clear negative agenda about one of our players. Who had a decent game.
What reaction do you expect?
My last comment.

I didn't expect cult-like delusion from people defending Flekken better than he defends his own net.

My f***ing sides have split.

Will stop now, as I've got a very uncomfortable feeling you're getting off on the reactions you're getting.
Happy fapping.

Why comment when he has an ok game? Why slag him off before a game? That's odder than anything you might be reading.

Flekken certainly wasn't the issue tonight. He had a solid game. No chance with any of the goals at all and two good saves.
Yes, it’s funny how views differ. Until I saw those stats above, I’d thought Vic was by far the busier keeper interms of keeping the ball out/ away from his net!

Slow hand claps to all the pricks that sarcastically cheered his magnificent diving save in the 20th minute. What goes through people’s minds when that’s the first reaction they arrive at.

I just couldn't believe the group in front of me last night. They spent the first half alternating between sarcastic applause for Flekken every time he collected the ball, launching foul mouthed abuse at everything Spurs (I'm no prude but there are limits) and singing the 'how s**t must you be....' ditty that was utterly insulting to the efforts of everybody at the club. And then they scarpered when the third goal went in, not to be seen again. On 55 minutes. What a way to 'support' your club.

.............spot on..............numpties near us constantly digging him out.........Flekken makes that save and nothing said............next slightly misplaced ball from Flekken and bang they are on him straight away.............moronic behaviour...............Flekken suffers the Sawyers Syndrome...............

Was a good save but unfortunately he’s still massively underperforming on goalie XG table on -8.9, quite a bit adrift at the foot of that table .

Cos we block/don't allow high xG chances and he's conceded a few worldies with very little xG, it's a nothing stat

Thought he did OK last night on the Flekkometer. I'm not picking up much love for him amongst the fans around me at home in the West Stand or away like last night. His critics don't appear to be crazed nutters more like average Bees fans. The views are quite polarised on this forum but I feel for many he is still in the "yet to convince " camp.

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

The "xG on target" of those three goals - ie the proportion of the time a goal would be scored and not prevented by that shot from that position, were 0.84, 0.95 and 0.86.

How anyone comes away from the game even thinking of blaming the keeper is beyond me.

Even you don't do stats you could see they were all very close range shots that the defence allower.

I suspect that 5 years and the winning penalty save in the Champions League final will be needed to turn round some views. Let's not forget, Jensen is still on license with some.

He had a good game. His confidence seems to be growing as is his command of the box.

I thought that too. Couldn't have done much about their goals. Came and caught everything in the air and made one top save which he must have seen late.

Whilst that’s absolutely stupid, “magnificent diving save” is not exactly true either

I thought Flekken played well last night as he had more options available to him, especially with the long ball to Toney which gives the opposition something else to think about when pressing our defence. I also thought our defence had more composure when receiving the ball from him, which hasn’t been the case in recent games, and he looked more assured when coming for crosses. He made an excellent save in the first half and was unfortunate with the first and third goals where the ball fell kindly for the Spurs players (a bit like the x2 goals we conceded at Wolves last year).

Ok. I'll join you lot. Flekken deserves the golden glove for letting in 3 goals a game. Fantastic goalkeeping.

People who don't understand football tend to always blame goalkeepers for goals in my experience.

I would go as far to say that Flekken was good last night. Came and claimed a couple of crosses when he needed to, made a couple of good saves, distribution was good. Not at fault for any of the goals. I haven't been his biggest fan so far this season but last night I was impressed.

Someone should make a list of the names of all current culprits so that it may later be published to name and shame.

Yes I agree with that he was decent last night and hope that gives him some confidence to take forward and show us the excellent keeper he no doubt is to be a fully capped Dutch international.

Wasn’t sure where else to put this, but apparently we have the fourth fewest xG conceded in the prem this season, despite conceding so many, particularly the last few games.
Not sure how to interpret this, think loads of different ways… but as someone who would probably be labelled as in the ‘positive brigade’, I think this shows a lot of room for improvement and a good foundation that if we keep improving and as we get players back/a settled back line, we will start to concede less and our actual goals conceded will hopefully align more with our xG conceded.

Congratulations for winning most stupid person on the internet so early in the day.
Well done, you won the most triggered response…

stating he isn’t up to it is not akin to burning a bees flag outside the ground and I want him to get better as it doesn’t appear that we are going to drop him either.

It was generally agreed that Fernandez wasn’t up it to it, I can’t see much difference.

We spent £11m on Flekken, for a start.

He had a decent game vs Spurs, two excellent saves, caught most crosses that came into the box. Distribution was pretty good barring a couple of wayward launches. Nothing he could have done about any of the goals.

I thought he looked confident throughout, and maybe he's turning the corner. Either way, the management believe in him and Flekken's going to be our No.1 for the rest of the season. You might as well get on board with it, find something else to rage at.

It seems that with every goal we concede some people, including myself, are looking for a reason to blame Flekken.
The Spuds game, having not seen it myself, seems that he was not at fault.

Turning this conversation round a bit.
There has been debate (not agreement) on how many of the goals we've let in this season have been Flekken's "fault". I'd argue very few, if any.
But how many absolute "howlers" has MF committed this season? Compared, for example to the likes of Onana, Raya, Turner, Becker, Kelleher, Martinez, Sa, Pope?

For a clue, look here:

And I know stats sometimes lie, but I'd agree with that for Flekken....

No way he was at fault for any of the goals, just a couple of school boys errors by the team, I'm sure TF went potty at them after the game. I bet we don't see that again if we are winning again. I expect us to be more solid as the weeks go on because we always have a chance with Ivan in the team.

You didn't state that he 'isn't up to it', you tried to dig him out for conceding 3 goals that were in absolutely no way his fault. How hard is it to just not be a f*cking weirdo?

It rings true – although the penalty he gave away vs Newcastle hasn't been picked up by this stat (notwithstanding the fact it shouldn't have been given anyway).

And how is an 'error' defined? If a defender doesn't mark his man, is that an 'error'? What about if a goalkeeper stays on his line instead of coming to claim a cross?

Mark Flekken (Closed Thread)

…after Hickey had messed up initially anyway.

The flip side in that game was the harshly disallowed goal which would well and truly have been his fault.

Small margins, Clive.
