He's on trial at Southend at the moment. I thought he proved himself capable at League 1, surprised it looks like he's dropping down.

I guess you can only go where you are able to get a trial and maybe his injury record - but not his ability - go against him a bit

He's a southerner (born in lambeth) so might mean he doesnt have to up sticks and move.

I spoke to him after the title win at Darlington and he came across as a very likeable chap. He never really let us down but scotty is ruthless when needed. I wish him all the best. He is certainly capable of at least L1 football.

......................I thought that apart from being in imminent danger of being wound up/in administration, Southend were operating under a transfer embargo, yet I read that Phillips (and Prosser) are Sturrocks 13th (and 14th) signings - can someone please explain what is going on??.......................

Think they can sign players on a pre contract with the promise that they will have their registrations sent to the FA as soon as the embargo is lifted. Not sure what happens about wages during this time though??
