Shame i thought the GPG was a discussion thread all that happens is when certain people do not like other peoples views they put them down as scaremongering , moanie minnies and being negative well carry on being in your happy clappy mode . No wonder a lot do not post i have supported Brentford for fifty years and my father till he died foreover seventy years and i will carry on but on this forum!
It was last year wasn't it? ....he is not a conference player.
last year is no good, was my point.......grigg isnt a bad player but he's not scoring goals.

Absolutely! Only time we got ball in behind against Wolves was a combination of a lucky break and some decent movement from Grigg as the previous 85 mins had seen Trotta stand in a central position waiting for the ball.
3 games on the bounce now MW has moaned about the final third yet still only played Grigg in a few cameo roles - shoes he obviously isn't really in MW's plans, especially with a new striker on the horizon. Sure there are plenty of other League 1 clubs who would be interested in Will if he comes up for loan as can't imagine he will want to sit on bench permanently after last season.
Poor management from MW in my opinion, but hopefully his new options will be able to penetrate a bit more offensively than Trotta does as he has been poor for last 3-4 games now. Not entirely his fault as supply has been poor from midfield.
We have wasted so much money on other unsuitable strikers ,Hayes, Farid, and now at appears Griggs we could have splashed out on a decent striker. failure to score goals ha been a problem for this club for a number of years and has been the failure of a number of previous managers Wolves and Orient have both scored 30 to 40% more goals than us, on Saturday Rotherham scored 4 in the first 35 mins when was the last time we did this.
I do wonder how we select players that we sign:
Who In the management team pushed for the signing of Hayes did we actually watch him
Uwe was keen on him. He came to us seriously unfit and never really got going
Why did we sign Farid when it was obvious that he was used to a different style of play compared to ours.
We changed our 'style' when Farid was out for most of last season. I presume when Uwe signed him we were going to play in a more conventional 4-4-2 style. The main reason cited for him not getting a run before going out on loan was he is incapable of playing our pressing game for any significant period or being mobile enough post injury
Did we buy Griggs based on the number of goals he scored for Walsall, then play him out of position added to which he has not been given the game time to settle in that was given to both Clayton and Trotta.
A high percentage of Grigg gaols last season were spot kicks. He simply hasn't merited a starting berth given his performances this season. Look at the amount of game time he has had, I would argue he has had enough time to settle
Added to all of this it seem to be an age since we scored from a corner or free kick or even scored a headed goal.
The majority of our signings now seem to have. some old connection to Watford
and assuming that this is the case what is your point in this respect
I just wish MW would elaborate slightly more in his interviews instead of rolling out the same old answers, but I guess if he asked the SAME questions every week it's really not surprising....![]()
Think he picked that trick up from Uwe but no references to how great Bristol City fans are yet so MW's doing alright by me![]()
You still haven't forgiven him for outing Farid!
Look mate I've seen the photos of the Bird's Farid's had on his arm....he definately isn't going to be outed
As you know I'm a huge Farid fan but we've all moved on, I just don't get everyone bigging Grigg up. He's had plenty of opportunity this year and Sheff Utd and Notts County apart has delivered very little return. Sure argue to give him a chance as the current starters are strguggling a bit but posters accusing MW of mismanagement etc lot of tosh IMHO.

We usually agree on most things but I find your criticism of Grigg odd tbh. He's really had naff all chance to stake a claim for a starting spot for several months and I'm sorry but 15 minutes here and there stuck out on the left hand side is not what I consider to be an opportunity. If we'd stuck Farid out there when he came on, I'd be saying the exact same thing and I strongly suspect he'd have found it tough too.
I realise that Marcello's form up until recently has made it his spot to lose, and Grigg has turned in a couple of uninspiring cameos but he's also shown against Sheffield Utd and Notts County that he can be a polished performer when played in his favoured central role. With Trotta having been quiet for a couple of games, I want to see Grigg given a start down the centre and an opportunity to stake his claim. He's shown he can do it on a couple of occasions, and he's due a chance to show whether he can do it again.

What's poor management....trusting in the forward combinations that was predominantly in place for most of our 20 game unbeaten run. Grigg is on the bench for a reason and that because his form when he has played hasn't merited a starting place so to reinventing him as the messiah who will open up opposition defences at will and have a queue of potential suitors for his signature should he be surplus to requirements is not just not accepting the facts. He had another 20 minutes yesterday and unfortunately couldn't conjure up a winner so he is getting opportunities.
MW has made no secret that he is trying to bolster the forward options and in this respect I really can't see why he can be accused of poor management in his handling of Grigg.

Its Grigg not Griggs. Sorry to point it out but it is really annoying.
I think Grigg will soon show us why we invested in him.
I know I sound pretty insouciant but I have more or less discarded the Wolves result as the first goal as several have pointed out was going to shape the match. A draw at Carlisle, not a happy hunting ground for us, was good, as was keeping a clean sheet. Also we coped well with three key players missing. Their replacements coped well.
I was impressed by the decision to have both Calvert and Hutton on the bench. This demonstrates strategic thinking as clearly easing them into the set up. Given the demands of the end of season having a quality squad to chose from is excellent. We are bound to pick up more injuries and perhaps suspensions so need cover.
Scoring is not only about ability but confidence and luck. I feel Grigg will get several goals by the end of the season. Donaldson also will start hitting the net again as will Trotta. A few lucky breaks will energise us.
Another striker would obviously though strengthen our goal scoring threat.
As for teams defending in depth against us this is where Warburton does need to have a think. Two suggestions that will go down like a lead ballon. First we should not press so high up the pitch but make it easy for the opposition to move forward. This would open up space for us to counter attack into. This will be unpopular with us as we all like our forwards pressing hard. Second we have been mislead by three or four tremendous strikes from outside of the box. Overall the chance of scoring from outside the box is low. In the premier it is only 1 shot in 33. So restrict long shots. This again is not going to be popular.
Anyway something to think about and refute.
As usual time will tell. Bet you are pleased I am not the manager.

hope the breadman has plan b and c ready for our must win game at orient soon as the wolves result still sticks in my throat ??
The squad is in good shape. It's a squad game.I just wish MW would elaborate slightly more in his interviews instead of rolling out the same old answers, but I guess if he asked the SAME questions every week it's really not surprising....![]()

So you are agreeing with me that our bench isn't conference standard then?
Recall Farid![]()
.....what for........to sit on the bench again.........or do you think he should start from the off..........do you think he is the solution to our goalscoring problem.......i dont.
Maybe, maybe not, but any goals he may score will be benfitting Dundee Utd and not us. I for one would rather have our player with us right now.
fair enough.......but he might be happy where he is.........he does have a say in it........imagine bringing him back against his will.......thats not gonna work.......anyway he's still not the answer,he wasnt before........we need a NEW striker, not an old one.
Strange that people seem to think a player who is on the bench for Dundee Utd can have an impact at the top of L1. In his last interview he mentioned that Toumani was getting pitch time to enable him to return match fit. I believe Charlie Adams will also return in good match shape? Surely these guys have to be out playing as opposed to keeping our bench warm?
I would agree if we didn't have a player like Fillo on the bench who is obviously unwanted. We've dropped the ball on the loan outs imho.
Why, none of our loanees were first team choices.
Mac will be first choice rb other than him Nico
Toums was no where near getting picked
Farid is obviously not in his plans.
My worry with Conor seemingly coming back is that IMO he isn't what we need right now, we need a centre forward to compete or play with Trotta, forget Grigg, both management teams have told us what they think of him with so little minutes on the pitch. My head says that Conor is a replacement for Saunders or Judge, is he not, when we really need a good goal getting striker but who doesn't? Trotta was obviously on his weetabix and marmite for a while and became a CF with a bit strength for a good run of games, the weedy Trotta is back and not enough IMO to get us over the line, Clayton is playing terribly but excellent midfield play got us wins where he and Trotta weren't up to it. This is all IMO and I hope the chaps return to form but we need a striker breathing down their necks and it ain't Grigg or Griggs depending on what you want to call him.
But with injuries and poor form we're benching a player who is a footballing leper. so I'd say we're running out of options somewhat.
I agree he's not the messiah but if he only scores 2-3 goals before the end of season, I'd rather they'd be for us. Every little helps![]()
Calvet and Hutton have been immense in training and dev games by all accounts and maybe Fillo has earned a crack by his efforts. He is a Czech international after all.
I hope so, i'm not ITK but I would say he has been treated pretty poorly and surely has something to offer given his pedigree. I'm just saying we maybe aren't as strong as we think we are and need to not be overlooking potential under our noses before reaching out for another loanee.
