Good luck Mark

Re the recently closed new manager thread, people on here really tickle me - "underwhelmed", "unimpressed" etc etc

Please point to one mistake MB has made in his dealings with the club. Even if this proves to be his first he can be forgiven and it certainly isn't a "cop out" or "massive risk". The guy understnads risk more than any of us but is no gambler. This will be a precentage decision which MB sees, on balance taking into account available options as well as MW credentials, working in our favour.

So the model remains with a new Director of Football looking to be appointed. Someone like a Steve Coppell type character;)

Mark Warburton

Looks permanent to me, if they are considering getting a new sporting director in as well to replace him.

Mark Warburton

All the best, MW! Perhaps not the exciting appointment that some were looking for, but a sensible move IMO, given the timing of UR leaving. If PF and AK stay on as well, this will mean as little disruption as possible mid-season, which has got to be a good thing.

good luck MW.....lets hope we can finally get out of this division this season.....lets bleedin hope so......youve got the full support of all bees

Mark Warburton

Was the only sensible option really - evolution not revolution is the way forward...

I could not believe the number of "fans" voting for some of the names on the other thread - Appleton FFS :eek::mad1:

Just accept that people have different opinions.

None of MBs managerial appointments have got us promoted, even in the weakest league one anyone has ever seen last year.

Mark Warburton

Good luck Mark, This appointment looks to try and keep a bit of stability and keep the squad together for the rest of the season. On Saturday we ,the supporters need to get behind Mark and the team big time .

Mark Warburton

I'm happy with this appointment. We need to maintain our momentum and continue to build on our recent form.
There will be no "getting to know the team" period. Obviously there will be changes, MW is his own man with his own ideas but I feel more confident this morning.

Mark Warburton

Interesting comment on talk sport regarding MW from someone in football and knows how he works quote " very bright and forward thinking, likes passing football, could be the next Venger"

Would do for me

Mark Warburton

Mark Warburton will do for me. He seems to be well respected and has done a great job behind the scenes for us. Matthew Benham knows what he's doing. Onwards and upwards. COYR's

Mark Warburton

Hopefully BFC have made a few quid and Mark Warburton seems to be well respected in the world of football.
Lets hope the team can give him his first win on Saturday.

He certainly can use his loaf !!

Well he won't be the only owner not to find a manager to achieve promotion, quite a strange comment to make really

the original poster said MB hasnt made any mistakes, surely it was a mistake to appoint someone who couldnt acheive promotion in the worst standard division in recent times with such a large budget available?

Mark Warburton brown and white army...

All the best Mark, I believe it's a sensible /justifiable position in terms of continuity. Mark knows the players, and is a shrewd judge of the transfer market, being especially adept at bringing in new young talent. It would be foolhardy to put our recent success purely down to Uwe Rosler. The set up at the club is down to a team ethic which goes way beyond the role of team manager, we have many support staff whose roles, cannot be under-estimated , our current league position is very much 'a sum of the parts situation'.
Interesting that we will be appointing a new sporting director, Steve Coppell recently quit this at Crawley.

Onwards and upwards.

Sensible option in my opinion. Mark and the team need the fans more than ever on Saturday. Lets really get behind them!!!

Mark Warburton

As long as he tells the players to pass it across the back four for 5 minutes then hoof it to Donaldson he should do as well as Uwe :fishing:

In all seriousness I must be the only person pleased about this, I reckon he won't be any worse that Rosler and he was the second coming for a lot of supporters. Hopefully he will improve they way we play and take us to the next level.

Very good appointment. MB proves his worth again. Brings stability to the club and the players will respect him. Looking forward to Saturday now.

The club appear to be keeping open its options. There is no way that the club will appoint a DoF until MB is sure that he wants MW to continue as manager on a permanent basis. This looks like an opportunity for MW to have a shot at first team management and see how he gets on.

I'm somewhat surprised at this announcement because I thought that one of the DoF's duties would be to find a new first team manager....

i agree with you and i think he will be the man we will all get behind for that promotion push.

good luck Warbs! will be a great story if he makes it

Mark Warburton

Warnock in as Sporting Director?
The Warbs and Warns show?

Mark Warburton

Continuity makes sense. Will be interesting to see how the players respond to him as manager

Mark Warburton

Well done MB for making the right appointment, I'm sure the players will be pleased.

Yes, there are some issues with this appointment: For example: If things don't go well, will MW be willing to return to his role as Director of Football? Will he have free rein to bring in the players he wants in January?

Mark Warburton

I would guess that a managers job is 85.6 % motivation . Have you heard or heard of Slades team speeches at Orient ? Look how Moyes is doing with pretty much the same team as Ferguson .

Some one may have badges , been a coach , like to play the best passing football in the Southern Hemisphere , have the best tic tac ideas out side of Germany and Spain combined , but thats not what its all about ,I dont think so any way

Good luck of course Mark .If you need any help we're always here for you 24/7 .

Mark Warburton

Seems a sensible appointment and glad we haven't gone down the route of getting one of the usual names doing the managerial merry-go-round! Some awful names on that list!

My only hope is that he does put his stamp on the team and instills a passing game as opposed to some of the hoofball we saw earlier in the season. I also hope more than anything that he keeps players in their correct positions!

Team need everyone behind them for the big push over Xmas and through to the end of the season so no choice but to get behind Warburton and give him a chance. A good Christmas and we could really be in a storng position coming into the new year.

Coppell has just gone to Pompey with Richie Barker. Although with his track record for sticking things out, maybe we could look again next month :-)

You really need to move on, mate

Mark Warburton

I really support this appointment. On paper. The number one thing we needed was continuity at this time.

It's vital not to lose sight of the bigger picture. the bigger picture is MB's job. & the bigger picture says: we're on the up, our new ground is coming, we may not go up this year or the next, but the trajectory is in the right direction.

A manager's needed who is part of that trajectory. That could be MW.
