What should be in the Match Update threads

Match Updates Thread

OK it's mass debate time.

Should the match updates thread only contain updates and comments on Brentford's match, thereby diluting the content of the thread for those of you that want to follow the BFC game

OR

Should all other scores be allowed in the match updates thread? Thereby keeping everyone aware of all scores across the leagues?

i think it's a small minority that has a problem with this way of doing things, I mean come on, we need something to talk about in the boring bits :cool:

What about info from Bees and other Bees related games...

For example
Games that can affect us...
Action involving ex-Bees
News of QPR or Fulham losing

The updates thread should just be a blank canvas to talk about any old sh*t for the entire match. Simple :sorted:

All of the GPG is here since 2001. In fact it's here from early 2000. :wave:

Besides it won't have been my fault as I only started doing the job in November 2002 :D

When I do I worry about the GPG all the time. "Is it still working?" "I hope there's not a duplicate thread?" etc. etc.

I would just like to point out that the quality of the "BFC Updates only" voters are about 20 times that of the "Anything goes" anti-christ voters.

Obviously I will be paying attention to quality rather than quantity :)

Bees Games latest updates

Whilst not trying to suggest who posts what on certain threads(freedom of speech and all that)....,does anyone else find it irritating during Bees games on the Latest Updates Thread when certain posters bombard the thread with details of totally unrelated matches. A good example of this was last Saturday during the Huddersfield game, when,posts such as, "Gretna are 2 up" and "What do you think the crowd size is at some Scottish Second Division game?"I can understand matches closely related to Bees but Scottish

I actually quite like it. Work reasons prevent me from getting to a number of the games, but to have Beesworld on plus the GPG thread is a bit like being in a pub with my mates. Especially good if i am stuck in an impersonal hotel somewhere.

No problem with it at all. If you don't want that, why not just listen to talksport or watch teletext for score updates.

What is the point of the thread otherwise? So 50 people can hear that Willock has had a shot and post that? Leave updates as is.

Wrong forum and duplicate topic by the way :wave:

A good idea MAYBE be for a Mod to update the title of the thread with the score perhaps :computer: California is normally on line he may be able to do it. :computer:

Right, so actually in my opinion it's a ****ing pointless thread anyway :yes: if you've got the web you can get score updates elsewhere, so why not allow chinwaggery about stuff other than Bees? No-one posting is at the game so they by definition have nothing of any merit to say about the game whatsoever :wave:

I think a good idea to please everyone would be to run two threads on Bees matchdays,one would just be for "BFC updates" and the other for "other games" updates.
I believe such a simple solution would leave everyone happy.On one side people like myself could then just read about Bees and people who are interested in Elgin City. Gretna, Airbus UK, Porthmadog, Northwich Victoria etc. and other mighty teams would have their own thread to comment on.

Let's face it, bulletin boards like this here wee GPG chap just aren't designed for the kind of 'live event discussion' that happens in the Big Match forum on matchdays. Doesn't matter if you police out all the non-BFC / relevant game mentions (which is a colossal waste of mod time), there's still seven people posting at once about how they can't believe Ide has gotten sent off again.

Can't we use the chat room feature for the live matchday things?

I used to like that. :imwith:

However people never really got into it and seemed to prefer the free form refresh echo style of the update thread. :shrug:

However in suggestion to those who are getting upset by the inclusion of irrelevant posts in threads I suggest getting up 25 seconds earlier in the morning and using this time to catch up on all the tasks that you miss out on while reading one sentence lines about non bees related football matches. This won't significantly impact on your daily sleep requirements and will allow you to stay on top of your busy schedule :yes:

However some suggestions do have merit :sorted: therefore we at CBU's site news and views will now insist on all moderators splitting request for IT/directions/marital assistance into three threads. One for serious advice strictly on topic; one for people who want to rip the piss and one for puns. This should keep everyone happy :yes:
